With renewed pressure in the US Senate to pass illegal alien amnesty in the form of Senator Dick Durbin's (D-IL) DREAM Act, newspapers present stories of illegal alien honor students in the US "through no fault of their own." Readers are subjected ad-nauseum to a parade of these deserving illegal aliens whose parents brought them here as toddlers, have no memories of life before the US, and are "American in every way." "These young people deserve a chance," we're told. "We want to give back to the US" claim these illegal alien young people who demand that they receive special privileges not even given to legal American native-born citizens. "Many want to serve in the military," we're told.
“Droopy” and DREAM
Don't expect Senator Dick Durbin to tell you about Erik "Droopy" Martinez, another of the illegal alien young people who would receive amnesty under Durbin’s DREAM Act. Even if confronted with the facts about Droopy, Durbin would back-pedal and then claim you can't punish everyone because of one bad apple."
Durbin would actually be pleased that attention is focused on "one bad apple" rather than the feature that makes DREAM even worse than any previous amnesty bill: Unlike the "one-time only" amnesties that have surfaced recently, DREAM is a continuing program that will become a permanent part of US immigration law to be used by illegal alien parents who have yet to jump the border with their children!
Who is Droopy?
Droopy is the gang name for Erik Martinez, who on September 18 shot and murdered Phoenix PD Officer Nick Erfle. Although Senator Durbin wouldn't claim Droopy as his DREAM poster boy, it should embarass Durbin that despite being an illegal alien, a gang member and murdered. Durbin's DREAM parameters are so easy that Droopy would have easily qualified:
(1) came to the US before age 16
(2) lived continuously in the US for 5 years
(3) graduated from a US high school (Phoenix's Camelback High)
(4) gang members can also receive DREAM amnesty simply by signing an affadavit (unsworn) that they renounce their gang ties.
There's only one reason that "Droopy" will never obtain amnesty - he's dead. After he shot in cold blood and murdered Phoenix PD office Nick Erfle on Monday, September 18, Droopy then hijacked a nearby car (with the driver as hostage) from those waiting in the 24th Street rush-hour traffic. When 4 tactical police cars surrounded Droopy in his hijacked car several minutes later, the police took him out on the spot. The Phoenix PD gave its citizens good value for their tax dollars that day. Not only did they permanently remove a violent criminal from the streets, they saved the taxpayers the cost of his trial, most likely his defense attorney as well, and prevented one violent illegal alien from ever obtaining amnesty to remain in the US and continue killing Americans.
For those outside Phoenix, 24th Street (the site of Officer Erfle’s murder) has a "history." 24th Street is a 6-lane street, and a major north-south street . In the spring of 2006, this very section of 24th Street was the site of a "surprise" mass march by 30,000 illegal aliens who closed down the city from 11am-4pm. That’’s after their leaders told the Phoenix PD that their "small, peaceful march" would be only 3,000 or so.
The phony indignation of Mayor Phil "Flash" Gordon when his office was flooded with phone calls from outraged citizens and businesses fooled no one, and certainly didn't prevent Gordon from accommodating another mass march of over 60,000 people. (3) Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon has another name for Droopy. Hurriedly returning from a post-reelection vacation to practice damage control for Phoenix' "Illegal alien sanctuary" policy that he denies exists, "Flash" Gordon trumpeted a different spin for the media and gullible citizens: "This individual that took our officer's life today is a perfect example, poster child, of the failed Washington policies in terms of securing our border."
But let's go back to when Phoenix PD officers first saw Droopy in the middle of one of Phoenix's main surface streets, backing up rush-hour traffic while flashing gang signals to the commuters who tried to avoid hitting him. By the time officers came close enough to see his gang tatoos, Droopy was on the opposite side of 24th Street.
No one was surprised that the Arizona Republic's first sketchy accounts of Droopy didn't include his gang affiliation, previous criminal convictions that led to deportation, or his gang activity. Only after later radio and TV accounts told Droopy's true history did the Arizona Repugnant finally come clean about someone they first tried to depict as just another "undocumented migrant here to do the jobs Americans won't do." (6)
Unfortunately, there are thousands more "Droopys" waiting out there for their DREAM amnesty; law enforcement groups estimate 800,000 illegal alien gang members are currently in the US.
At the sunset vigil for Officer Nick Erfle, a neighborhood resident told me that Droopy attended local Camelback High School; one of the man's sons was in "Droopy's" class. The man wasn't sure if Droopy actually graduated, but such "details" wouldn't have mattered had Droopy applied for DREAM amnesty.
And is anyone naïve enough to believe that his LPR (Legal Permanent Residence) would have ever been revoked, even if convicted of future felonies? No, Droopy would have received and retained his amnesty, would have gained amnesty for his illegal alien parents, and likely for dozens of fellow gang members masquerading as "family members."
Did Droopy want to serve in the military? Not likely, since Uncle Sam excludes convicted felons from military service.
Did Droopy want to attend college? Classes would interfere with the demands of his gang activities and behavior. Nonetheless, Droopy would likely have applied for and received every possible dollar of financial aid even if he never appeared to register for classes.
ASU and its ultra-liberal President Michael Crow (who continues to defy the voters who passed Prop 301 denying college benefits to illegal aliens) certainly wouldn’t force Droopy to repay the loans and grants so eagerly given to him by educational bureaucrats who fall all over themselves squandering public tax dollars on illegal aliens. Rather than risk exposure of their being cuckolded by an illegal alien gang member and swindler, Crow and his liberal minions at ASU would have written off the loss and hoped it remained hidden from public view-at least until they were safely retired and collecting their fat pensions paid by taxpayers they defrauded by aiding and abetting illegal aliens in violation of 8 USC 1324.
That he was a gang member, drug trafficker and convicted felon, previously deported wouldn't have hindered Droopy's DREAM amnesty application in the least. Remember that US Homeland Security's Citizenship & Immigration Services (CIS) is the same agency (although renamed) that so promptly and conscientiously mailed renewed student visas to each of the 9/11 Islamic terrorist hijackers six months after their identities and death had appeared on worldwide TV and news media.
Authors of recent illegal alien amnesty legislation build into their laws penalty fines of $10,000 and more against any government employee who might question the integrity of verbal claims or documents submitted by illegal aliens with their amnesty application. The typical requirement that the US government has only 24 hours to obtain criminal background documents to support rejection of amnesty applications means that LPR amnesty is virtually guaranteed to anyone who submits an application, however incomplete, inaccurate or fraudulent.
(Remember the image copies of the sloppy and incomplete applications of the 9/11 Islamic terrorist hijackers that the US Embassy issued to Saudis under the "Visa Express" program? Expect a "DREAM Amnesty Express" if Senator Dick Durbin and his pro-illegal alien Senate allies get their way.)
If the demonstrated level of incompetence and fraud at CIS (duly reported in repeated audits by the Congressional Government Accountability Office), didn't save the day for Droopy, he would have easily shifted to threatening and intimidating CIS employees.
Because of Droopy, Arizonans have a new variation of their traditional "No illegal alien amnesty" phone calls to our Senators for their vote on the DREAM Act: "You couldn't choose a worse time to vote YES on giving illegal aliens anything but The Boot! No Amnesty. Not now, not ever. Never!" _ _After the most recent defeat last week in the US Senate of Durbin's DREAM Act as an amendment to a Defense bill, Senate Majority Leader "Dingy Harry" Reid (D-NV) has promised that DREAM will return as a standalone bill and be passed by November 16. (6)
When making phone calls to your US Senators, include a call to "Dingy Harry" with this article, and ask him why he's so insistent that 800,000 "Droopy" clones be given legal residence in the US. And to your own Senators and Congressman, ask this question: “Does the Senator/Congressman know that DREAM isn’t one-time only but a PERMANENT amnesty for any illegal alien who crosses the border?” “You say the Senator/Congressman does know? And yet still supports DREAM?”
