Iwo Jima provided a vital link in the United States chain of bomber bases during World War II.
"No other island received as much preliminary pounding as did Iwo Jima," according to Admiral Nimitz, CINPAC, Commander.
Incredibly, this ferocious bombardment had little effect. Hardly any of the Japanese underground fortresses were touched.
The US sent more Marines to Iwo Jima than any other battle, 110,000 Marines in 880 ships. It was the largest armada invasion up to that time in the Pacific War.
In 36 days of fighting there were 25,851 U.S. casulties. (One in three Marines were either killed or wounded.) Virtually all 22,000 Japanese perished.

So... if 6,825 united States Marines shed blood and gave their lives to secure our liberty, at a place made famous in a flag raising that symbolized American patriotism and valor... then just what the HELL, does the cowardly act of banning the American flag on public school property stand for?
Oceanside California? I should have known. I was stationed next to that arm-pit in the 60's, at Camp Del Mar, on the Pacific Ocean, across from Camp Pendleton, home of the famed 1st Division Marines. It was a typical military rip off town then, now it is worse, it's run by Girlymen.
Legend has it, during the 50's, the famous Marine Corps. Commandant; Lieutenant General, Louis B. Chesty Puller, put the town of Oceanside off limits to the troops after reports of homeowners displaying lawn signs that read: Marines and dogs, keep off the lawn.
It didn't take long for the bar owners and shop keepers to get rid of the disrespectful signs, as they frantically pleaded at the main gate of Camp Pendleton, to welcome the Marines back into town.
History seemed to be repeating itself last week, as this insidious immigration anarchy led Oceanside educators to ban the American flag at school.
"Emotions are running high in the aftermath of last weeks immigration protests," squealed Oceanside School Superintendent, Kenneth Noonan, a nitwit, who can't seem to control the children in his schools.
Tempers flared as American and Mexican students walked out of school in defiance of the law, so Mr. Noonan's remedy was to ban Old Glory from public school, while the Marines next door at Camp Pendleton, were having a memorial service for the families and friends of nine Marines who were killed in the same unit - fighting over in Iraq, for the same flag that Kenneth Noonan, banned at his schools.
Apparently, Mr. Noonan, an idiot, doesn't understand history, our heritage, or anything else about our freedom, not being free.
He is ignorant of the fact that the United States Flag is held in such high esteem, that our law makers codifed a section of flag etiquette into law: United States Code; Title 4
Chapter 1. section 8A states: “The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a sign of distress in times of extreme danger to life or property.”
We've all seen the pictures being circulated around the internet and in news papers, showing gang banger thugs hoisting a Mexican flag over an American flag upside down, flying the distress signal.
What distresses me is, Mr. Noonan and his staff of cowards, should have called the police and had these thugs arrested, not for disturbing the peace, but for causing an insurrection; an act of war by foreign nationals on American soil, then had them deported back to their country of origin.
Make no mistake about it, what we are witnessing over these past few weeks is an invasion, and these intruders now feel emboldened by the huge numbers of foreign nationals who are trying to sabotage our national security in time of war.
While our jack-assed senators are jerking around in meaningless foreplay, our public health, safety, and national security, is being surreptitiously compromised.
Our president can stop this tyranny by issuing one executive order to enforce our present immigration laws, but he is part of the problem, not the solution, therefore, his behavior demands impeachment.
The mealy mouthed Noonan's of the world, want to appease the wrong people.
A Mexican flag has no business flying above the stars and stripes, unless we have surrendered this country. The same country that those 6,825 Marines perished for at Iwo Jima, and thousands more, standing tall for the privilege of protecting that sacred symbol of America, and had no compunction about laying their lives on the line for it.
Noonan is a disgusting symbol of what this country turned out to be... a country without resolve, standing for nothing, willing to surrender our sovereignty. He has succumbed to political correctness, an abominable Nazi concept that has no place in a free society.
Our Bill of Rights and the United States Constitution gives us the right to fly our flag freely, and express our freedom of speech.
It doesn't give illegal invaders the right to interfere in our democratic process or our immigration policy.

The American people will decide who we want entering our country and they had better enter lawfully, not as trespassers encroaching on our soil.
This subversion just didn't happen overnight. It has been brewing for a long time, induced by our timid and greedy public servants, willing to give somebody something for free, at the expense of American tax payers, through foul trade agreements with corrupt countries.
Our government has been infiltrated by global socialists, and Marxist's, who have contaminated our system, now aiding and abetting foreign nationals, in breach of their oath, while they violate the trust of the people.
Their polluted and delusional ideas, only serve to undermine our founding principles and tarnish the efforts of our honorable troops, serving to protect our liberty under the colors of the United States of America.
Our public servants need to seek redemption, then show a firm resolve instead of portraying America as a wounded puppy, stalked and preyed upon by ignorant misfits trying to rip us off. They must acknowledge our internationally recognized borders, and the rights of United States citizens to determine our immigration policy.
They need to enforce our present immigration laws, which incidentally makes felonies out of intruders who enter our country illegally.
A message must be sent by our leaders as a warning to hostile immigration rights groups, such as La Raza, and to any activist public servants, whose allegiance lies elsewhere, to issue a statement in support of respecting our laws, or be barred from receiving any federal funding, or be impeached from public office.
These people didn't just come here to work, they are an invasion force, encouraged by their government so that they don't have to deal with them in Mexico.
They give them books and maps to help them infiltrate north to send back billions of dollars to Vicente Fo and other corrupt politicians who don't do anything for the betterment of their people.
Mr. Noonan deserves to be fired, he is a despicable human being. Our president and Congress better take heed.
The secret is out of the box over this superfluous illegal immigration legislation farce.
The truth of the matter is that our political structure got caught with it's funky fingers in the cookie jar of global greed. Our leaders have violated the public trust, putting their jobs in jeopardy, now they are scrambling for cover as an irate citizenry targets them for removal from office.
I'm getting weary over being tolerant of treasonous politicians, foreign nationals with nose problems, and quasi-religious extremists, who have no respect for our flag or for our heritage.
If they don't like it here abiding by our laws, they should leave.
Maybe the time has come to give our country an enema?
I'd suggest sticking the needle into the town of Oceanside California first, then into the ear of Ken Noonan, and our feeble senators.
