The only “common sense gun control” that its advocates are eventually going to agree on is to take your guns away.
How do I know that? That’s exactly what they did in Europe.
Much has been said in recent week in the United States about “common sense gun control,” and not being a U.S resident is likely going to get me a great deal of vitriol. After all, it happens to be a regular occurrence that when Europeans comment on the American gun debate, they do so with a big deal of ignorance about both guns, gun culture, and the United States as a whole. A noticeable difference in history education between my American friends and myself was that we weren’t taught American independence as something fundamentally important, but as more of yet another lost war in European history. You win some, you lose some. That this loss has brought about one of the most fundamental state philosophies of freedom goes unnoticed in the European education system. Continue reading
A phenomenon born of three seismic forces of change…
Thousands of years of agriculture married 95% of the population to the soil. In less than a century the miracle of Industrial Revolution reduced agriculture to 5% in the U.S leaving 95% dependent on the industrial world. The new economy witnessed the first decline of the economic and social units that were the mother centered extended form families – the backbone of culture for centuries. Continue reading
It is said that “no man is taken for a prophet in his own country”. Yet sometimes evidence overcomes this negative presumption. In my recent NewsWithViews commentary entitled “The Irrelevant Second Amendment”, I predicted that the decision in Kolbe v. Hogan — that so-called “assault firearms” such as the AR-15 are not protected by the Second Amendment in any way, shape, or form — would become “gun-control” fanatics’ legalistic weapon of choice for banning possession of those firearms, and much more besides, by average Americans. So was it written; and so has it come to pass. Continue reading
Instead of sitting back and waiting for the anti-freedom crowd to come along with more gun bans and ammo restrictions and background checks, all designed to curtail our right to be armed against tyrants who would propose such things, we should be on the offensive. Continue reading
Everything that means anything is local.
Many people think national news is what makes all of our futures. This is wrong. Where we live defines how we live. What our neighbors believe and what our children are being taught defines what we are and what we will become. In other words, what kind of a world do we want our children and grandchildren to live in.? Continue reading
No Laws Broken, No Warrant, No Charges
A man in Seattle has had his gun confiscated by police after breaking no laws. The police took his gun without a warrant and without pressing any charges. Tyranny has officially taken hold on American soil. Continue reading
Sagacious gun owners have always known that the ultimate goal of gun control extremists such as Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, et al., has always been gun confiscation. The plan is not to “control” the private ownership of firearms; it is to PROHIBIT the private ownership of firearms. Enacting ever-encroaching gun control laws is simply an incremental means to the ultimate end of gun confiscation and prohibition.
Donald Trump was elected on the promise of protecting the Second Amendment (among other things). Instead, he has become the poster boy for one of the most egregious gun control machinations of all: gun confiscation. Continue reading
New York Times columnist Bret Stephens says (again) it’s time to ditch the Second Amendment.
Mass shootings have become almost a regular occurrence in modern America.
Every few months, we watch the television reports in horror: a lone gunman descends on some location—a concert, school, church, or nightclub—and opens fire on a group of unarmed people. Continue reading
Another shooting, another day in America ~ or so it seems.
With alarming regularity, the nation is being subjected to a spate of violence that terrorizes the public, destabilizes the country’s fragile ecosystem, and gives the government greater justifications to crack down, lock down, and institute even more authoritarian policies for the so-called sake of national security without many objections from the citizenry. Bring back 1968…
Rahm Emmanuel – Gutless Jerk!
At last we know why Chicago’s homicide level is so out of control: Gangs, not police control the streets. The gangs know it; the police know it; and now, thanks to DNAinfo.com/Chicago, we know it. A week ago, Chicago street gangs held a huge party in a park, with a thousand people attending, some brandishing firearms, terrifying neighbors for hours. The police sent 25 squad cars, yet were outnumbered and unable to really do anything. Stephanie Lulay wrote:
A raucous and “very dangerous” gang party that brought 1,000 people to a Near West Side park late Sunday was so out of control, Chicago police struggled to shut it down, one alderman said. Continue reading
The 9th Circuit Court is at it again, showing that they are, as most of us are well aware, a leftist activist court for which the Constitution means nothing. The nutty ninth overturned the ruling of a lower court which found that a cooling off period after the lawful purchase of a firearm was an infringement on the Second Amendment.
Apparently the 9th Circuit sees the Second Amendment and the pesky Constitution as cumbersome impediments in their crusade to overhaul the United States in their leftist image. Continue reading
She’s gunnin’ for YOURS!
One of the most frustrating political arguments for libertarians and conservatives is that of the Second Amendment. To any logical person, it should be abundantly clear that there is no reason to infringe on this right in any way, shape or form. Our country was founded on the right to bear arms and we all utilize this right in order to ensure our own safety. Sadly, the Regressive Left has recently waged war on the Second Amendment and it now seems as though they are getting closer and closer to victory.
If there was ever any doubt that the leftists of the ruling class have been trying to disarm us, it should no longer exist in the wake of the recent WikiLeaks email leaks that show just how corrupt and evil those on the left can truly be.
In an email chain released by the whistleblowers, it is revealed that the Clinton campaign was trying to utilize mass shootings to exploit her gun control agenda. During the back-and-forth conversation, Campaign director of engagement De’Ara Balenger wrote, “The only flag here is that Jordan Davis was killed by a white man, so arguably – this crime was racially motivated, which takes this outside the discussion of gun violence. Was there another mother in the Chicago meeting where the shooting was NOT racially motivated? If yes, we should use that story instead of Jordan Davis.”
A high school student was suspended and ordered to undergo a psychological exam because he made a video with the message “guns save lives” for a class project, his family says.
The student, Frank Harvey, received an “A” despite the controversy.
“What the response of the school tells me is that I’m allowed to do my schoolwork as long as it agrees with their point of view on an issue,” Harvey told NJ.com, referencing administrators at Manville High School in New Jersey.
Harvey had created a short video that spotlighted examples of people who used guns to defend their homes. The video also showed anti-gun control political cartoons.
“I don’t understand why I’m being disciplined for following the instructions of my teacher and no one else is,” Harvey told NJ.com. Continue reading
Declarations from Donald Trump and Mike Pence that gun rights are in danger is no longer hypothetical. It is now certain. If Hillary Clinton wins the presidency, the Second Amendment can be effectively erased from the U.S. Constitution.
For the first time in U.S. history, a federal appeals court on Friday struck down a federal gun-control law for violating the Second Amendment, meaning that next year the Supreme Court will hear a case that includes the opportunity to abolish citizens’ right to bear arms by overruling the Court’s famous Heller precedent. Her rationalization to Wallace when called out on the matter is nothing more than classic Clintonian attempt to conceal her true beliefs and intentions.
Following her recent interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, Hillary Clinton suffered justified ridicule for falsely claiming that FBI Director James Comey declared her private email server explanations truthful.
Unfortunately, what received far too little attention were Clinton’s damning contradictions regarding Americans’ Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
During a fundraiser just last year, Clinton declared unequivocally to a friendly audience, “The Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment.” So quoting her own words, Wallace asked, “In the 2008 Heller case, the Court said there’s a constitutional individual right to bear arms. What’s wrong with that?”
In response, Clinton attempted her trademark routine of word salad obfuscation: Continue reading
Today, I placed my Glock .22 pistol on the table right next to my front door. I left its clip beside it, then left it alone and went about my business. While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor’s son across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the “stop” sign near the front of my house.
After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was quietly sitting there, right where I had left it. It had not moved itself outside. It had not killed anyone… Continue reading
The threats we face today are showing themselves more and more. You can assign it to whatever you want; Obamunism, availability of prescription drugs to be abused, unchecked and undiagnosed mental health issues, easy access to guns and trucks, or cats and dogs living together. Whichever…
But there is no doubting that interesting times are upon us. The reality of the threat today versus the fantasy that most want to live in is that there are newly emerging kinds of threats that require a different response than what we would have done not that long ago. Continue reading
