PROGNOSIS: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Update on Clay Douglas

By Jeffrey Bennett

Clayton Douglas

May 26, 2004 - One week ago tomorrow, Clayton Douglas, Publisher of The Free American, was critically injured in a motorcycle accident. It has been determined, as was previously reported.

As of this day, the Douglas family, have not received a copy of the accident report, yet the hospital has. Apparently, there is a question of a lack of “Power of Attorney”. From a wife? Hmmmmmmmm!!! Is this city, county, state or Federal? Go figure.

As was stated by the Neurologist, according to the accident report, upon arrival of the police and para-medics, Clay was vocal and belligerent (that’s our Clay), indicating that at no time was his brain cut-off from oxygen. This is very positive news.

Now, to satisfy the unquenchable thirst for information from those truly concerned, as well as those of you, who pick up those tabloids in the grocery store line at the Great Wal-Mart of China, I offer the following prognosis, as relayed to The Federal Observer by Janet Douglas:

  • Temperature has decreased from 102 degrees to about 99.

  • There is bruising on the brain.

  • Multiple contusions to the head.

  • There is a blood clot on the right-side of the brain.

  • Clay has pneumonia, however fluid from the lungs has turned from brown to light-carmel in color.

  • Pneumonia is still a major concern.

  • Overall condition is holding steady with nothing worsening.
  • The above is the basis of the good news.

    Long-term prognosis:

  • Within six-months, we’ll know how well his full recovery is progressing.

  • Within one-year, Clay should have an 80% full recovery.

  • Within the second year, he should recover fully.
  • The above will all be based upon Clay waking up.

Keep in your prayers and assist in any way that you are able.
