Christ, as Cypher: Xmas Greetings From The Living God

By Barbara Stanley

Although I don’t recall exactly when it happened, I do, vividly, remember the day I first saw Christ’s name replaced with an X. Pop and I talked about it, for he had become dismayed at the commercialization of Christmas. That which used to be was fading away. Time to be joyful at the birth of a Saviour, at the gift of this Christ living within every heart, awaiting its own awakening and birth was replaced with the Biggest!, the Newest!, the most expensive for those who ‘kept up with the Joneses’ - as the advertisement copy and nuance of the day.

When I was very young, Christmas was a time centered around the birth of Christ, the arrival of the Magi and their precious gifts, in effect, the first Christmas presents. Precious and presented in a special way, these gifts gave us the pattern for this holiday to come. All that Christ represented, the commandment he gave, Love, the wisdom of a Sage and the benefit of a Redeemer—what is called The Way. And the only way to live your life if you want to evolve and the most precious gift, of the knowledge that this Christ is truly the Indwelling God, the Light which is in the center of the heart, all these things were thoughts dwelt upon then, back in the good old days before we forgot.

Decades of this religious cleansing, years and years and years of the coin held too closely to the eye, left some folks’ vision limited in scope. What is held in the mind becomes the reality, eventually and impaired sight left us to now, today, actually take the Christ out of Christmas virtually, completely with the banning of any public religious expression. Well, maybe that’s not totally correct. I should have written, take the Christian out of the realm of the tolerated into the banned. So, what does that leave us?

If we are admonished to remove Christianity from the holiday, along with, I might add, the Hebrew traditions with the removal of the Menorah, what are we left? I’ll tell you what: Islam. There are three modern religions in the world (although my personal opinion is that Islam is not so much a sacred religion but pretty much a war manual of ethnic cleansing): Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

If we are to forbid Christmas and Chanukah, this doesn’t seem very tolerant, safe or practical. So much for tolerance, though. Just as in the case of affirmative action which, today, has devolved into being only about one’s skin colour, we are selectively turning on its head any thought of equality in religious matters.

It seems a puzzlement to me that most folks don’t understand the simple fact, that, were you a Jew or Christian in an Arabian country, chances are you wouldn’t be advertising that fact, less you cease to exist completely. Over here, in America however, mention any religion, preach anything you choose and the First Amendment protects you, even if you are an enemy of the country.

But that raises another question in my mind: why are we allowing Christians and Jews to be persecuted selectively as they choose to speak and celebrate their faith? There is no mention of “separation of Church and State” in the Constitution. That is a myth that few seem to eschew, though it is a simple fact. In point of fact, it is quite the opposite. We are actually protected by freedom of worship and the free speech of that very religious belief.

Save for the public schools, government run and run down by the NEA, et al, more people would see the forest for the trees, see the idiocy that is affirmative action and separation of church and state. It is true, due to the plethora of adults who had never been properly taught, never become acquainted with the user-friendly computer between their ears, too many folks seem to be driven by the polls and the markets, rather than creating those polls and markets. More’s the pity. But this is the reason Mrs. William Jefferson Blythe Clinton Rodham is adored: her cult-like followers actually hear the lies as truth. This is what happens when folks are never instructed in how to think by the process of, well, actually thinking as they learn how this is accomplished, truly the way things used to be in school.

Even so, some managed to fall through the cracks and are the conservatives of today. Zounds! The Left can’t have this happen, lest they lose their necessary slave class (we all know they can’t support themselves), so they push the psychotropic, behaviour-modification drugs and the toddlers’ parents say, “Fine, you deal with ‘em.” But what else can we expect idiots to say… they never learned how to parent. The Democrats confiscatory tax rate, which grew from two percent in the forties, to a combined total (State and Federal) of today, around fifty-two percent, drove women out of the house and the gender feminists began the destruction of formerly powerful women (who we termed homemakers and mothers) when they demeaned mothering and keeping a good home. When you think of the power the person possesses who was raised up in the old way, the nuclear family, of course it makes sense that the Liberals just can’t afford this.

Sadly, but expectedly, we arrive at today and the so-called religion of our avowed enemies, Islam, is the only one allowed. Cripes. Just shoot me now. My head is sore from the conundrum of the folly that has become the Communist ‘politically correct’ aspect of socialism. Remove the concept of the individual by any means necessary. Am I the only one who recognizes this for what it is? Can’t be. The last election proves that. Even the expert thieves who routinely steal votes didn’t win the last one. And that’s the good overcoming the bad, the Light of Christ overcoming the darkness of Islam.

Ashcroft is reported to have said one religion’s god asks your child to die for him; another God sent His child to die for you. Seems like a pretty easy choice and at the very least, reason to wish a Merry Christmas, no matter how mad the terrorists get. Consider that a knife in the heart of the most radical pseudo-religion on the face of the planet, Islam and here’s a twist: Happy Chanukah too! Sorry about the hurt feelings, but what do you expect when some think the Christ in Christmas is going to be replaced with the Christmas Clown, or maybe that should read, the Winter Holiday Clown. Sure!

And something else: there recently has been the question going around: What would Jesus drive? My trooper buddy has the perfect answer: A Harley. And so would the disciples. Without helmets or regulations and most likely at the Daytona rally, ministering to the children of God as they search for the road home. More Godliness there than at the United Nations, what?
