NULLIFICATIONThe resistance to Obamacare is writing a new chapter in U.S. history. It may well become the most unpopular law since Prohibition became an Amendment to the Constitution in 1919. By 1933, another Amendment repealed it.

Obamacare passed by a straight Democratic party vote on Christmas Eve in 2009. No Republican voted for it and, as one poll recently revealed, a third of Americans are still unaware it is the law of the land. A divided Supreme Court gave it a pass, calling it a tax, but it is a profoundly unconstitutional law insofar as the federal government may not pass a law that requires Americans to purchase something and to fine them if they do not. It is also playing havoc with the economy, delaying recovery as it deters hiring and encourages firing.

Nonetheless, a number of states have gone on record seeking to nullify its enforcement and some are doing the same as regards gun control. Arizona became famous when it passed its own immigration law in response to the federal government’s failure to protect its border with Mexico. The proposed “Gang of Eight” immigration law is facing stiff opposition for its various provisions, most of which do not address the central issue of security on the southern border.

Whether Jodi Arias gets her wish — to be executed rather than spend her life in prison — is now up to the Arizona jury that on Wednesday found her guilty of brutally murdering her one-time boyfriend, Travis Alexander, in a jealous rage on June 4, 2008, in a Phoenix suburb.

The jury must consider whether the cruelty, brutality, and depravity of her attack on Mr. Alexander deserves a sentence of death, a finding that would make Ms. Arias the fourth woman to be awaiting execution on Arizona’s death row. (The state has not executed a woman since Eva Dugan, a cabaret dancer, was hanged in 1930.)

Against that possibility, jurors will weigh potential mitigating circumstances, such as Arias’ allegations of abuse, which she outlined at length during the trial.

Education department eliminates the terms ‘mother’ and ‘father’ in favor of less gender-specific ‘parent 1′ and ‘parent 2′

The U.S. Department of Education is replacing the terms ‘Mother’ and ‘Father’ on student loan forms with the less gender-specific ‘Parent 1’ and ‘Parent 2.’

The changes will be introduced on the 2014-2015 federal student aid form (FAFSA) and the move is designed to better accommodate students who are brought up in gay homes where there are two mother or two fathers.

All students should be able to apply for federal student aid within a system that incorporates their unique family dynamics,’ Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said in a statement.

It’s 3 AM; and the phone is ringing

That is the reason for the hearings on Benghazi, and the difference between a civil, and animalistic society.

In spite of all of the rhetoric from the media and the Democratic party about these hearings being politically motivated, we are learning just the opposite. The betrayal was politically motivated to help Junior get re elected.

So now we know.

It’s 3 AM and your children are safe and asleep, but there’s a phone in the White House and it’s ringing. Something is happening in Benghazi, and this isn’t the old ad Hillary Clinton ran against Barack Obama during their 2008 presidential campaign.

It’s 3 AM and the White House phone is ringing off of the hook, but our Commander In Chief is fast asleep with visions of hundred dollar bills dancing in his feeble head.

He’s off to a fund raiser the next day in Las Vegas, so nothing is going to disturb his beauty rest.

Across town at the Clinton residence, the phone is also ringing…

Ross: As Requested?

It is not that I don’t know what to say, it is that I don’t know if people are ready to hear it. I think I have said all that can be said about our system of government, how it was supposed to work, and about the nature of our rights. If people haven’t understood by now, they just aren’t going to. But I have never really sat down and written about the reason I believe our country is in such sad shape, the why of it all if you may. Well this is why I think America is in such sad shape right now.

In 1989 Justice William Brennan offered the following ruling, “If there is a bedrock principle of the First Amendment, it is that the government may not prohibit the expression of an idea simply because society finds the idea itself offensive or disagreeable.” I know that what I am about to say may offend some, while turning others away. I don’t care, I feel that what I am about to say NEEDS to be said. In fact, I think it is long overdue that I do say it. So steel yourself for Neal’s thoughts on why America is so screwed up.

NBC News is in the process of appointing a new chief. The purpose? To rearrange what is already false reality, to make it more interesting and dramatic.

The desperate networks are grasping at straws. Their ratings reflect a continuing audience exodus.

I once wrote that, if tomorrow the top news anchors admitted they were drag queens, the whole country would immediately collapse. That’s how fragile America actually is.

I’ve updated that comment, because the USA is now so tolerant the top anchors could come out as collies or toasters and everyone would feel compelled to consider the revelation with warm regard.

Rural America, In The Crosshairs!

Back in 2004, we were involved, with several other rural landowners, in opposing a particularly onerous proposed environmental ordinance in our county. We gave testimony at several public hearings and we organized quite a few public protests at which several dozen landowners turned out. We even got some of the local media to attend our protests. We also wrote many guest editorials and letters to the editors outlining our objections. In spite of a fairly significant turnout by the effected rural landowners, the Democrats on the county council, that held the majority, passed the ordinance into law literally in the dead of night, in spite of vociferous opposition and over 100 amendments put forth by the Republicans.

National ID system comes a step closer to reality after ‘plan for biometric database of all Americans’ is revealed in immigration bill under review in the Senate

biometricsThe immigration bill under review by the Senate Judiciary Committee could mandate the creation of a national biometric database to identify residents in the U.S.

The technology referred to simply as a ‘photo tool,’ in the proposed legislation presented on Thursday, would be used to verify the identity of employees before they were hired to ensure they were in the country legally.

Privacy experts have sounded the alarm that the national database would further usher in the era of ‘Big Brother’ government by allowing authorities to track residents, described by one analyst as ‘a government version of Foursquare.’

Alarm: Privacy experts fear the technology would become increasingly required for ordinary activities like boarding a plane, buying a house or attending a sporting events.

The Gray Riders Remain

Organizations who claim roots to slavery in this country (whether their ancestors arrived before, or after, 1865, it doesn’t seem to matter) deride the SCV and that beautiful old battlefield emblem the Confederate Battle Flag.

It would seem that the truth doesn’t matter. Their hatred for all things Confederate even includes some of their own ancestors, as it is a fact that African-Americans served in the armed forces of the Confederacy. We know this. We can prove this. But try to convince the campus elite who gain favor with minorities for lambasting all things Southern. The fact that blacks served in the Confederate armed forces can be documented… means nothing. They have made up their minds and we have been unable to dent their armor of ignorance.

Standards of Conduct

potomacIn 1974 a young female attorney help draw up the rules under which Richard M. Nixon would be tried by the Congress for impeachment.

Impeachment,” she wrote, “did not have to be for criminal offenses – but only for a “course of conduct” that suggested an abuse of power or a disregard for the office of the President of the United States.”

She wrote, “that a person’s ‘course of conduct’ while not particularly criminal could be of such a nature that it destroys trust, discourages, allegiance, and demands action by the Congress.”

She wrote that “the office of the President is such that it calls for higher level of conduct than the average citizen in the United States.”

This young female attorney who helped write the standard under which Presidents are to be judged by the House of Representatives has a unique perspective about the present situation in the White House.

Grassley: Baucus Retiring Because He’s ‘Fed Up’ With Obamacare

baucus-31162-20090705-8Cedar Rapids, Iowa ­- Democratic senator Max Baucus is retiring because he is “fed up” with the Affordable Care Act, according to his Republican colleague Chuck Grassley. Speaking at Friday night’s Lincoln Day dinner in Iowa, Grassley told the audience the Montana senator is leaving office ”because he’s so fed up with the possibility of the implementation of Obamacare being a train wreck.”

Baucus, the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, played a key role in writing the 2010 law.

Grassley said that dissatisfaction with the health-care bill exists across party lines, describing a “bipartisan coalition in Washington” that considers the implementation of the law a disaster. “It’s a shame that a trainwreck even left the station a couple years ago,” he added, referring to Baucus’s now-infamous statement of frustration.

Cantor: Another Piece Of Phony Legislation

Don’t forget that if they get citizenship they will then be able to sponsor their relatives into the country and we will no longer have a country.

The Senate immigration reform bill aims to apprehend 90 percent of potential border-crossers in high-risk areas within five years after passage, but Republicans question the plan.

I question it too, THEY CAN’T HANDLE IT NOW, and five more years will see thousands upon thousands of new illegals crossing the border, and the Bozos in Cesspool D.C. want to give these lawbreakers a path to citizenship when we are having a helluva time sustaining our own population.

The Pain of Bangladesh: T-shirts Made with Blood and Tears

His face, wrinkled before its time, was a picture of utter anguish. It could only be understood by a parent whose child was dying under giant slabs of concrete where nothing could be done.

“If she is dead,” he said, “I just want to bury her with my own hands, so at least in my mind I know that I have finally found my daughter.”

Then the despairing man succumbed to his uncontrollable tears.

Getting the facts and being the first one to expose a momentous story to the public was like playing in the Super Bowl for journalists whose total intent was to report the news, not push an agenda.

In the days before television, radio and newspapers were the only way the masses could keep up with what was going on in the world and honorable men like Gabriel Heatter and H.V. Kaltenborn were trustworthy father figures to a news starved nation during the dark days of the Second World War.

Men like Ernie Pyle imbedded with the troops and stalked the front lines for the latest on what was happening to the sons and daughters of America serving overseas.

Today is Confederate Memorial Day in the Carolinas

csa_flags_comp_blogToday, May 10th, in North Carolina and South Carolina, is Confederate Memorial Day.

I am reminded of the local “Sons of Confederate Veterans” Confederate Memorial Day celebration, which I attend every year. When last I spoke to the gathering I spoke of the Confederate Soldier, or as I sometimes refer to them, the “Southern Knights.”

As it was a celebration of the southern warrior, I spoke on the attributes of the Confederate soldier… who he was, what he was like, what he did, what he felt, why he did what he did, and why he felt he MUST do what he did, and so on, and so forth.

When one studies the Confederate soldier, one quickly comes to understand that there has never been, before or after the American “War Between the States”, a warrior quite like the “Southern Knights”. As a combat soldier, he was more akin to the various “special forces” of numerous militaries around the world than he was to the “regular” soldiers we are acquainted with today. He was a killing machine… with good manners.

The Other Big Winners in Gang of Eight Immigration Bill: Lawyers, Lobbyists and Advocacy Groups

Within six months of enactment of the bill, millions of illegal aliens would be eligible for Registered Provisional Immigrant (RPI) status – the first and most important step in the amnesty process. They would be granted permission to remain and work in the United States while they wait for green cards and eventual citizenship.

Also obvious winners in the 844-page bill are business interests that would gain easier access to foreign labor. S. 744 provides for significant increases in guest workers who would be made available to businesses, as well as new flows of low-skilled and skilled permanent immigrants.

But there are still others who would hit the jackpot if S. 744 were to become law: lawyers and an array of groups that advocate on behalf of illegal aliens.
