Rep. John Conyers (D., Mich.), the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives, said he would leave Congress immediately, after facing calls to resign over allegations of inappropriate and lewd behavior toward female staff members.
Guess that he won’t be “stuck” in a meeting any longer.
Multiple former staffers have accused Mr. Conyers in the past two weeks of sexual misconduct. Both House Speaker Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) called on him to resign, putting pressure on the Detroit-area lawmaker first elected in 1964. Mr. Conyers, 88, endorsed his son to replace him. He denied the allegations of misconduct.
How can one endorse his own offspring? Does that mean that his own kid starts work tomorrow? Is this legal?
