How Much Government is Enough

As our US Republican form of government has evolved over the last 232 years, our population has grown from 4 Million to 311 Million today. Within the last 50 years there has been an explosive growth of government and its agencies. Every new swarm of elected officials at every level, seek to make their mark on history. They do so by funding an Agency, new buildings, and it names every new building/bridge/highway/forest/etc. after them. One need only look at a state map,or inspect the cornerstone of any government building, and you will see names of unknown and long dead officials, known only by their living relatives.

The spending however continues, and at an accelerating rate. Many legislatures abdicate their law making authority to the agencies they have created. In Washington these are the RCWs agencies create to enhance their power and control. Woe be it to any citizen, cities, towns, or counties that fail to comply with the bureaucratic created One size fits all RCW. They will be hounded by a zealous agency administrator, justifying his existence and a bigger budget. The recent GSA $850,000 Las Vegas party disguised as a conference is only the tip of the iceberg.

In Wisconsin 20% of the population is receiving state supplement food. Everyone knows a substantial portion of the recipients are not eligible, but it would cost more to eliminate them, than just keep giving them food. The same is true at locals schools that provide free meals. Many of the children are ineligible, but who wants to be mean spirited and deny them.

We have even reached the point where because of ever changing laws and complexity, most of us cannot fill out our own income taxes.

We have reached a point where there are not enough workers in private industry paying taxes, to support those employed by government at all levels. Recent immigrants and illegal aliens know how to make it work. They do your yard work, paint, auto repair, etc. for cash, No W-2 or checks. The ideal opportunity is a combination gas station, deli, w/motel. Only family members work, eat, sleep there. They love cash customers and pay no Unemployment/Disability/Workman’s Comp tax or no benefits.

This entire bloated bureaucracy is unraveling at an accelerated rate. 50% of college graduates cannot find jobs and thus pay no taxes to support the bureaucracy. They cannot even repay their student loans. If you think the November elections will change anything, you have not been paying attention.
