THE NEED FOR FEAR

A couple of days ago a friend (thanks Wendy) sent me a video of discussion from the floor of the US Senate on S1867, or the National Defense Authorization Act as it is commonly known. The video can be found HERE.

In this video you will notice some of our elected officials advocating for “enhanced” interrogation techniques to be used on those whom some bureaucrat in our government might deem to be potential terrorists. If past performance may be used as an indicator, the fact some like-minded bureaucrats once determined a 14 inch shoestring to be an automatic weapon, should not inspire anyone with confidence in the ability or discernment of any bureaucrat.

In this video there are three senators who are advocating strongly for this Bill of Rights shredding legislation. You remember the Bill of Rights; those first Ten Amendments added to our Constitution to protect the rights of the people; the rights our Declaration of Independence claims are endowed to ALL by our Creator, and are, in fact, unalienable.

At least one of the senators so advocating is a dyed-in-the-wool Marxist Socialist. Another is some bimbo from New Hampshire with an R after her name and another repub from South Carolina who has never seen an unconstitutional war he couldn’t support. I’m sure the bimbo from New Hampshire and the scalawag from South Carolina both received votes from citizens who viewed them somehow as the “lesser of two evils.” In what alternate universe could that be true? Most revealing was when the bimbo referred to the Marxist as her mentor in the Senate. God help us when the “lesser of two evils” considers a Marxist to be a fit political mentor. And there are those who really believe there is a substantive difference in the two major political parties. Yes, Virginia, there is. All of them live with the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy in never-never land.

These so-called potential terrorists whom our wonderful representatives desire to be terrified of our “enhanced” interrogation techniques would most likely be currently housed at Gitmo. I can’t help but ask: what exactly should I fear from those now incarcerated at Gitmo? Not one of them has ever threatened to take my guns? Not one of them has ever molested a Mother or child at an airport, or declared a Medal of Honor a weapon. Not one of them has ever stolen over half of the money we make? Not one of them charges me to live in my own home? Not one of them has given billions of dollars in bailouts to their cronies who are foreclosing on good people’s homes throughout our country? Not one of them ran a house of ill repute for homosexuals from his congressional office. Not one of them sent billions of our tax dollars in C-130 military aircraft to Iraq in 2004, all of which mysteriously disappeared? Not one of them is responsible for 2.3 TRILLION dollars that is somehow missing from the Pentagon. Not one of them has refused to guard our borders against invasion. Not one of them supports those who enter our country illegally with my tax dollars. Not one of them has allocated millions of taxpayer dollars to recreate Sesame Street in Pakistan. Not one of them has insisted I no longer use the phrase Merry Christmas or have a Nativity Scene at my local park, although they have no problem with the observance of Ramadan or the phrase “Happy Hanukkah.”

What folks like Lieberman, Ayotte, Graham and others such as Juan McCain, our former “lesser of two evils” candidate actually fear is a country of citizens who demand their rights, those granted by their Creator, be honored and respected. What folks like us need to understand is who is actually the enemy and who poses the greatest threat to liberty: some person at Gitmo whom the government has no verifiable evidence against, or the elected socialists in this country who would like to see those who oppose their socialist agenda, in Gitmo, or a conveniently located FEMA Camp.

Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence, maintained, “The most effectual means of preventing the perversion of power into tyranny are to illuminate so far as possible the minds of the people.” He stated “if a nation expects to be ignorant and free…it expects what never was and never will be.” Not being able to look into the future and envision our Public Fool System and the self-inflicted paradigm of the acceptance of evil if it comes in a smaller package, Jefferson could not see how possible it would be for a literate population to be much more ignorant than those whom he saw as illiterate, and how they could be so invincibly unintelligent and incapable of determining whom they should fear: the government’s boogey-man du jour, or the government that creates them?
