Free Trade Treaties/Zones and The Sell-out of the US Worker
Free Trade Treaties have resulted in encouraging US manufacturing to move overseas, with the accompanying elimination of 7 million manufacturing jobs in the US, in the last decade. One needs only to examine the products sold at Big Box Stores to discover they are made overseas. Cars, tombstones, large fragile clay garden urns, motorcycles, frozen foods,furniture and medicines are but a sample of what CAFTA. NAFTA, GATT, G8, and “Most Favored Nation Trading Status” given to China, have wrought. Our elected officials cheer these trade treaties and expound on how these treaties will open foreign markets to US products. How is that working out?
We have 46 million Americans on Food Stamps, about 400,000 persons a week filing for first time unemployment benefits, and real unemployment at about 17%. Unemployed pay no taxes, they no longer pay into social security, and their purchasing power is severely limited. College students graduate with Tens of Thousands of student debt loans and cannot find jobs. 10 Million mortgaged US houses are behind at least one payment, at a minimum.
Free Trade Zones are the next step in the elimination of the US Middle Class.
The US State Dept. estimates there are 100,000 N Koreans working in foreign countries under government minders. Their wages are sent to the N Korean governments. Labor is provided at slave wages and a guarantee of no required sick leave, days off, retirement, union strikes, etc..
Der Speigel reports in Prato, Italy there are 25,000 Chinese workers in the Merino Woolen Factories. The products are truthfully labeled “Made in Italy”
Edinburgh(Scotland) Woolen Mills sells cashmere jumpers, made in China, but labeled Designed in Scotland.
The state of Idaho is contemplating selling a 50 square mile area near Boise,as a Free Trade Zone to China. The Governor speaks favorably of the project because it would create a few jobs for the locals.This would be sovereign territory of SINOMACH, an arm of the Chinese government. There would be factories, warehouses, retail stores, and worker housing. It is a self contained city direct from China.
Citizens need to directly ask those in state and federal elected positions; Why are you selling out the United States, and the future of our children and grandchildren?
