A fresh perspective on American life
I was sent the following video link by a reader. It is well reasoned and factual. It says what I have been preaching for many years. America as a free, well disciplined , and wealthy country is on the down side. When any civilization has become too soft, too lazy and too complacent, they have failed.
We not only demand the niceties of life, we also are willing to give them to anyone who wants them. In our comfort, safety and complacency, we believe that we can solve the problems of poverty and hunger by giving our wealth and our food free and ask for nothing in return. The youth of today, camped out in their tents on lawns and parks in cities across the nation are suffering a little with the cold, the inconvenience and the pressure of city governments to make them disperse. They feel righteous and in their own small way are trying to make a statement. They cry about the problems and do not realize that they are the problem. (VIDEO)
These same students who can’t find a job and owe a huge debt for their education, that they can’t use, never stop to realize that they are among the voters who elected the political hacks who have created their despondency. We have sat quietly and well fed and allowed a small group of professional politicians, carve out their empire. They don’t work very hard, they live exceedingly well and they have an assured future. All of this on the backs of the students who know something is desperately wrong but fail to recognize what and where the problems lie. Instead of attacking a faceless corporate world, why don’t we attack a known cadre of worthless politicians? Honest politicians can cure the excessive greed of the corporation. We can’t do it with “Tea Party flakes” or unorganized and wandering protests.
Until this country rises up enmasse and gives a mighty roar the decline and rot of America will continue. We are misled by small issues and no one has the ability or foresight to go to war against the real culprits. Our enemies are our elected officials. Until we resolve that issue, there can be no hope of recovery or progress. Instead of worrying about the religion of a candidate, let’s worry about the honesty and integrity. Contrary to popular opinion, the two are not necessarily the same. When do we realize that the declarations of faith are not a testament to honesty in many cases?
I would suggest that with the next election coming up, we demand a pledge from any candidate, that they rescind all perks and privileges of the elected official and revert to the same level as their constituents. No special health care, no guaranteed wage increases, no special retirement packages ( social security is good enough for all) and finally term limits so they serve as citizen patriots and then go home and revert to private life. Professional politicians are the result of poor oversight by the citizenry. If the “Occupy” protesters want to make an impact, they need to refocus their goals. Everything could be set right by the simple process of electing honest and trust worthy people. The only catch being that there may not be that many left.
