I hadn’t planned on writing anything for a while as I felt I needed a hiatus from it to recharge my batteries. Yet there was this one quote I had read from that piece of shit who calls himself our president that kept nagging at me until I couldn’t take it any longer. So here I am, at it again.

The quote I am referring to was made by Obama, in reference to his Jobs Bill, on a campaign stop in Asheville, North Carolina, and it reads, “We’ve decided, let’s let them do the right thing one more time. We’re going to give them another chance to do their jobs by looking after your jobs. So this week, I’m asking members of Congress to vote. What we’re going to do is we’re going to break up my jobs bill. Maybe they just couldn’t understand the whole thing all at once. So we’re going to break it up into bite-size pieces so they can take a thoughtful approach to this legislation…”

The day after I found that quote I printed it out and showed it to a few people. None of them saw anything wrong with what Obama had said. I think it is the combination of what he said, and the fact that nobody found anything wrong with it, that drove me back to this keyboard once again.

If you have been reading my articles for any length of time now, you should have a rudimentary understanding of the Constitution. Therefore, to keep it simple, I will simply say that it is not the job of the president to write legislation; he may make suggestions to Congress, but they are the LEGISLATIVE branch…they write the laws. I am sure he is not the only president that has done it, but who do these assholes think they are that they can write laws, and then demand that Congress pass them? That we don’t write our Congressmen and tell them to grow a set of balls and tell the president to stick to his delegated powers speaks volumes about us as a citizenry.

In 1789, James Madison stood before the House of Representatives and said, “The Constitution is the charter of the people in the government; it specifies certain great powers as absolutely granted, and marks out the departments to exercise them.” I’m sorry, the president cannot write laws, and then send them off to Congress for their approval. He may only make recommendations, or suggestions, but it is up to the Congress as to whether they will take action upon those recommendations. For the president to do otherwise is a usurpation of power…plain and simple.

But there is more about Obama’s statement that bothers me, and it should bother you as well. Obama went on to say “Maybe they just couldn’t understand the whole thing all at once.” Am I the only person to see that the president, subtly said, that Congress is STUPID? He then says, “So we’re going to break it up into bite-size pieces so they can take a thoughtful approach…” If you ask me that is the language one would use when talking to a two year old, not members of Congress.

There is something else about that though that bears consideration. If a piece of legislation is so huge that it needs, broken up into bite-sized pieces, to be understood, then maybe there is something wrong. In Federalist 62, James Madison wrote, “It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man who knows what the law is today can guess what is will be tomorrow.”

Much thought was given to the legislative process by our founders. In a letter he wrote to Madison, Thomas Jefferson said, “The instability of our laws is really an immense evil. I think it would be well to provide in our constitutions that there shall always be a twelvemonth between the ingrossing a bill and passing it; that it should then be offered to it’s passage without changing a word; and that if circumstances should be thought to require a speedier passage, it should take two thirds of both houses instead of a bare majority.” (emphasis added)

How many times have we seen bills FAST TRACEKED through Congress because of political expediency? If you recall, the Patriot Act was passed without members of Congress having had a proper amount of time to read it.

Rep. Bobby Scott was quoted as saying, “No one has really had an opportunity to look at the bill to see what is in it since we have been out of our offices.” John Conyers, the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee at the time, said, “…we are now debating at this hour of night, with only two copies of the bill that we are being asked to vote on available to Members on this side of the aisle.”

And we call this representation, voting on bills that they haven’t even read? We all recall what Nancy Pelosi said about the Health Care legislation, “But we have to pass that bill so that you can find out what is in it away from the fog of the controversy…” Pass it first, read it later, that could be the mantra of Congress as far as I’m concerned. Maybe it ought to be engraved in the marble above the entrance to the capital. All it shows me is that all Congress cares about is expanding its power and control over our lives, that they don’t care what the laws they pass say, just that they have MORE power over our lives; more rules, more regulations, and more taxes.

There is one final thing that bothered me about what Obama said. It was not in the wording, but in his choice of wording and the overall tone of his statement. It has been said that Obama is a classic example of a narcissistic personality. If you read between the lines of the statement under discussion, you will see that it supports that point of view; that he is saying, “I am right, and you are wrong; I am smart and you are stupid.”

What bothers me about this is the fact that Obama is most likely going to lose his bid for re-election…at least I hope he does. The problem lies with what will happen from the time the votes are counted in November, to the time he is replaced in January? If he truly is a narcissist, then he could quite possibly fly into a narcissistic rage and do even more damage than he has already done. After all, there are hardly any checks left upon the powers which a president may wield. He could do all kinds of damage by Executive Order, or by the deployment of our military in to areas of the world that may initiate World War III.

I know a lot of people have a lot of hope and expectation for Ron Paul to get elected and finally see a return to some form of government based upon the Constitution. But we still have to survive the remainder of Barack Obama’s time in office. Think about that would you?
