Last night there was another GOP debate between the Republican candidates seeking the nomination for president. After the debates for the 2008 election I have lost any hope that the media will give each candidate an equal amount of time, and exposure so that the people in this country could make a truly informed decision as to whom they would like to see get the nomination.
C’mon man, this is 2011 and you’re STILL tricked by “liberal vs. conservative” American politics?
Let me guess, do you LOVE Coke but HATE Pepsi?
Do you LOVE Burger King but HATE McDonalds?
That’s what we’re talking about here, politicians are puppets, it’s a controlled duopoly.
Republicans vs. Democrats is as real as WWF professional wrestling……..they pretend to hate each other, than they go wine & dine & golf together afterwards…
Whenever I sit down to write I am merely trying to take information that I have learned and express it in a way that is easily understood by those who take the time to read my commentaries. As I continually learn new things I find that positions I once took may have been flawed, but that is part of the learning process and I accept that I may not always be right in my assessment of things. I truly wish that people would, instead of relying solely upon me for their information, seek to educate themselves as well.
As I stated in my last commentary my journey in learning what has been happening in my country has been an ongoing process, and one in which will continue until the day I take my last breath. Some people are further along in this evolutionary process than I, and maybe they see things different than I do, but at this particular point in time I am filled with a sense of dread for what lies in our countries future.
I am constantly being told that people are waking up, that people are beginning to get it. Maybe, maybe not…
I remember how exhilarated I felt when I was told I was old enough to fast for the month of Ramadan. My feelings had little to do with abstention from food and drink between dawn and sunset each day. For a child, there is little joy in that. The meaning and implications for me were much greater. I believed that the occasion signaled I had now become a man. I wanted to share this news with all my brothers, friends and neighbors.
Last Saturday, Texas Governor Rick Perry unofficially launched his 2012 Presidential candidacy in Houston (in my opinion). Speculation is he will officially announce his intentions this weekend in South Carolina. If he does declare his candidacy, many election-watchers say Perry will become the GOP frontrunner, due to an extremely weak field of declared candidates. If Perry does declare his candidacy, everyone will know that the Houston event was staged for the purpose of launching his Presidential bid, rhetoric to the contrary notwithstanding.
Those who follow my commentaries know that I rarely discuss race in America. I find it an unhappy topic at best and, from my readings in U.S. history, I feel safe in saying there was never a good time to be Black in America.
Slavery before, during and after the American Revolution was a stain on the nation and, though some were slave owners, the Founding Fathers knew it. To get the new Constitution ratified among the thirteen States, they had to trim their sails to the point where Article One, Section Two refers to “those bound to service” and, for the purpose of taxation of “free persons”, the slaves were counted as “three fifths of all other Persons.” Ugh.
This latest soap opera debacle over the debt limit ceiling has changed my entire philosophy about government.
President Obama has made me see that my understanding of American precepts such as personal responsibility, and self reliance, were an illusion.
According to this inexperienced president, the real essence of being an American is shared sacrifice.
Hmm … I’ve heard of self sacrifice, most American tax payers experience this every day as our pockets are being picked by the tyrants in this nanny state government.
“Shared sacrifice,” that must be some kind of new spin to an old game.
For weeks, months and even years I have been reading of the failure of the public education system to produce EDUCATED students. Many fail – many drop out – and the quality of most of those left is far below what they should be. In Texas there have been more articles than I can count about the FAILURE of one school district after another to meet the standards deemed to be acceptable — ‘Adequate Yearly Progress’, or AYP, a federal school rating system.
In spite of the money that has been thrown year after year for education the quality continues to decline. We are told there aren’t enough engineers – scientists, doctors, etc., to meet the demand so we need to import foreigners who have the needed skills. This is way past INSANE.
