Sometimes People Say the Stupidest Damned Things

The day after Mr. Obama gave a press conference explaining his reasons, and plans for our militaries involvement in Libya, I had a discussion with a co-worker regarding the President’s authority to wage war without a declaration of war by the Congress. The person I was talking to was a regular reader of the articles I bring to work. In fact, this person often gets on my case if I do not write anything for a week or so, saying, “C’mon Neal we need you to educate us.”

As I was saying, I was explaining that the President cannot just deploy US troops to another country, or engage our military in attacks upon a foreign nation without a declaration of war from Congress. It was at this point in the conversation that my co-worker said something along the lines of, “He is the big dog; he can do whatever he wants.”

When I heard that I thought to myself, “What the hell is the use in my continuing to write for people like this when they just refuse to learn?” You see, all this time I have been hammering away upon the limits imposed upon the Congress, and the President, by the Constitution, and this guy comes out and says that the president can do whatever he wants because he is the big dog! Has anything I’ve said sunk in?

That’s just it, neither the president, nor the Congress can just do whatever they please, no matter how much the public, or the world, clamors for it. Patrick Henry once said, “The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government—lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.”

Anytime the President, or the Congress, oversteps the boundary imposed upon their powers by the Constitution, their acts are, not only, unauthorative, but they are criminal as well. You see, these people swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, and if they violate that oath, they are guilty of violating the trust of the people, and of abusing the position of their office.

If you were to grant me a power of attorney to pay your bills while you go away on vacation, only to find out when you return that I have sold your home, I would be guilty of a crime, for I would have overstepped the powers granted me by the power of attorney. The same principle applies to our government; whenever they overstep the specifically designated powers granted them by the Constitution, they become simple criminals.

So, now you see why sometimes I get so frustrated and dejected. It is because no matter how hard I try to teach people the simple truth about the limits imposed upon their government by the Constitution, they say the stupidest things, which only prove they haven’t learned a damn thing.

I hear ya Bro! It is hard to persevere when comments made out of ignorance persist, but PERSIST we must! Well done for your tenacity, you now join the ranks of thousands here in CA who finally awoke and educating everyone they meet on a daily basis! Some people can only see past their own nose and thinking outside the box is just a quote from somewhere else in another timezone.
On another note, has anyone noticed that SCI FI movies tell more truth than lies? However, it takes someone fairly awake to ‘see’ the purpose behind the thin lines given to actors by the ‘Writers of the Future’.
If you think it’s tough to enlighten others about law and history, TRY SCIENCE! We’re a dumbed down society in Science, and have met those who not only will not but cannot find the courage to REeducate themselves.
We have stuff going on in our sky here most wouldnt believe, except those of us eye witnesses taking pictures and videos…and no…I dont mean UFO’S. Think Agent Orange in Viet Nam, then you’ll have a little hint.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK NEAL…all is not in vain, and the more aware the more they care about what happens to all of us enough to DO something about it. God Bless
