Evil. It has always been there, pushed back in the United States by American exceptionalism and the Judeo Christian traditions of what Ronald Reagan famously called — borrowing from the Bible — a “shining City on a hill.” “God bless America,” Reagan would say, emphatically and often. But God is not in fashion among our political and media elites and, with the presidency of Barack Obama, the lights of the city are dimming and evil has been drawn from the shadows.
During a friendly hello call to Paul, he mentioned that oil was a topic of real concern for him. I know Paul he’s a level headed fellow with a great guitar boutique in Cave Creek, AZ. Paul like all of us is suffering from the economic catastrophe. He is a true news hound so when he told me that the price of oil is expected to hit $200 a barrel because of the unrest in the Middle East, I took notice. I knew it would go over $100 but not that high. Being the curious about this I did a bit of research on the internet. I discovered a site that had information about the top 15 exporters of oil to the US.
“Democracy … arises out of the notion that those who are equal in any respect are equal in all respects,” said Aristotle.
But if the Philosopher disliked the form of government that arose out of the fallacy of human equality, the Founding Fathers detested it.
“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule,” said Thomas Jefferson, “where 51 percent of the people may take away the rights of the other 49.” James Madison agreed, “Democracy is the most vile form of government.” Their Federalist rivals concurred.
Better known as “teacher bonuses” or as Greenwood Superintendent Kay Johnson refers to them as “supplements”. $90 MILLION! Wow.
December 22, 2010 it was announced that Obama was awarding the state of Arkansas $90 million printed out of thin air to be dispensed to the government school system, formerly known as the public school system. This federal theft was listed as part of the AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009. Translation: A vote buying scheme by and for Democrats.
I can explain why so many Americans are angry about President Obama and dislike or hate him with passion, and why it has little to do with his actions and policies. But first I must examine the confluence of two historical inflection points that explains so much resentment and opposition to Obama.
We all see the world through the prism of where we live. Most of us live in the cities and suburbs. From the early 1940s when my parents moved to the picture postcard town of Maplewood, N.J. that is where I grew up and have spent most of my life.
There is not much to be happy about these days in Happy, Texas. Main Street is shuttered but for the Happy National Bank, slowly but inexorably disappearing into a High Plains wind that turns all to dust. The old Picture House, the cinema, has closed. Tumbleweed rolls into the still corners behind the grain elevators, soaring prairie cathedrals that spoke of prosperity before they were abandoned for lack of business.
A lady by the name of Megan Sampson was named the outstanding first year teacher in Wisconsin. One week later this lady received a layoff notice from the Milwaukee Public Schools.
Why you ask, would one our best and brightest new teachers in the state, be among the first to be cut?
