When I took my first screaming breath of life, Dwight D. Eisenhower was president of the United States. America was a nation filled with hard working, patriotic people, who, for the most part, still held on to the belief that the Constitution prevented their government from doing certain things. That was the environment that I was raised in, and that was the America that I grew up to love.

Now I see my government doing things that 5 decades ago would have never been permitted and I have to ask,” What the fuck is wrong with this country?” I have to ask, “What the fuck is wrong with the people in this country who sit idly by while their government shreds the Constitution and strips them of their liberties?” If those words offend you, I’m sorry. No, in fact, I am not sorry, I am pissed that your ignorance, your apathy has led to this! Our government could not do a single thing without the explicit consent of the people. Whether that consent comes in the form of people supporting unconstitutional legislation, or ignorance, the end result is the same; we get laws that violate the Constitution and infringe upon our rights.

There is a short four minute video posted on You Tube that people need to watch. It is of Judge Andrew Napolitano on FOX News. Go take a look, then come back and finish reading the rest of what I have to say.

When I was nineteen I enlisted in the United States Air Force, and for the next 13 years I served my country, having taken an oath which primarily states, “I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic ; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…”

It is only after someone has sworn to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that it states, “…and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”

Currently, our armed forces are engaged in combat on three fronts, all of which are highly questionable, if not downright unconstitutional. Yet anyone who speaks out against them is said to support terrorism, or is unpatriotic. Fuck that! I would die for my country, at least the country I grew up to love. I don’t know if I could say that today, not with the complete lack of regards for my rights given me by my government, and the citizens who inhabit this land.

Now we have this bullshit, signed into law by a man who ran for the office of President saying that he would end these wars. Instead he has involved our military in combat on a third front and signed into law legislation which can detain a person for life…even if they are found to be INNOCENT. What kind of shit is this? My God, is this still America, the land of liberty, or are we a socialist state in which anyone who is PRESUMED to be a threat can be locked away for life?

At the end of that You Tube video, Judge Napolitano said, “Why should you care about this? Because if the government gets away with it by demonizing these prisoners, and making it the popular thing to happen, it might happen to you.”

Over two centuries ago, Thomas Jefferson, a former President as well for those of you deficient in your American history, once said, “It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others: or their case may, by change of circumstances, become his own.” Just as Judge Napolitano said, if the government can do it to them, they can do it to someone else, maybe even you.

Maybe that doesn’t worry you, maybe you feel you have nothing to fear, that you are an honest law-abiding citizen, that the government would never come after you. During World War II there was a priest who was an outspoken foe of Adolf Hitler, his name was Martin Niemroller. Most of you probably have never heard of him, but something he said is worthy of your consideration.

Niemroller is quoted as saying, “First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out –Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out –Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out –Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.”

By Mr. Obama declaring that these, so-called, terrorists have forfeited their rights, he has said that you too have forfeited your rights as well. In the Supreme Court case of U.S. v Robel, the Court stated, “It would indeed be ironic if, in the name of national defense, we would sanction the subversion of one of the liberties … which makes the defense of the Nation worthwhile.”

As I said, I would be willing to die for this country. But that, in truth is not correct. I would die for the principles that this country once stood for. I would not, however, die for the millions of idiots who populate this country. I would not shed one drop of blood for the ignoramuses who continue to vote for Republicans and Democrats who toe the party line and disregard their moral, and legal, obligation to uphold the Constitution.

In fact, I would rather die than live in the country that I see America becoming. The people of this country do not want to hear from people like me. They do not want to hear that they are ultimately responsible for all that ails this country.

And that is why I do not write as much as I used to. I have come to the realization that people have become too brainwashed, too filled with propaganda and rhetoric that they cannot see the truth through all the lies they have been told. So, when this country does fall apart at the seams, don’t come knocking on my door for help. You’ll be lucky if all I do is slam the door in your face. For it is all of you who continue to vote for these corrupt politicians who neglect their sworn obligation to uphold the Constitution, that I will hold accountable for the things that are most assuredly coming.
