Ross: A Very Short Civics Lesson

I just can’t believe it. After all the lecturing I’ve done on the subject, I still hear people refer to our system of government as a democracy. Folks, for one last time, we are not a democracy, we are a republic. There is a difference, and it is rather substantial.

Do you remember going to school and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance? Think back, can you remember the words? I can, “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands…” (my emphasis added)

Dvorak: Muslim Sharia law for America? White House rally March 3rd

Only in America could a radical Muslim group be granted permits to rally at the White House and call for Sharia law to be implemented in the United States.

Preparations are now underway for the ‘Shariah4America’ project that will inshaa’allah (God willing) become an unanticipated wild card for the West, galvanizing the immense support for Shari’ah in the Middle East and bringing it directly to the doorsteps of the United States of America,” Shariah4America posted on their website.

Avery: FEARING EPA’S CARBON TAX

Churchville, VA — Farmers, along with the rest of us, could get hit with a triple jolt of regulatory shock if the Environment Protection Agency goes forward with its announced controls on carbon emissions. Consumers are already paying heavily for the federal mandate that puts a huge chunk of our corn crop, as ethanol, into our gas tanks instead of into our meat, milk, and eggs. While food costs soar, along with fuel costs, it is a waste of good corn as it contributes almost zero to our energy independence.

Ross: My Final Thoughts On The Defense Of Marriage Act

The other day I received an e mail that had been forwarded to me by a reader of my commentaries. The originator of this e mail stated that the most important thing we, as a nation, can do is to get Barack Obama out of the White House. This person stated that because Barack Obama had decided to no longer require the government to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act that he was in violation of Article 2, Section 3 of the Constitution, which states, “…he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed…

Driessen: Wind power: questionable benefits, concealed impacts

EPA trumpets dubious shale gas risks – but ignores environmental impacts of wind turbines

America is running out of natural gas. Prices will soar, making imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) and T Boone Pickens’ wind farm plan practical, affordable and inevitable. That was then.

Barely two years later, America (and the world) are tapping vast, previously undreamed-of energy riches – as drillers discover how to produce gas from shale, coal and tight sandstone formations, at reasonable cost. They do it by pumping a water, sand and proprietary chemical mixture into rocks under very high pressure, fracturing or “fracking” the formations, and keeping the cracks open, to yield trapped methane.

Baroud: Till September: The PA’s Meaningless Deadlines

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and his supporters in the Fatah party want us to believe that dramatic changes are underway in the occupied Palestinian territories.

This is part of a strategy intended to offset any public dissatisfaction with the self-designated Palestinian leadership in the West Bank. The PA hopes the ‘news’ will create enough distraction to help it survive the current climate of major public-regime showdowns engulfing the Middle East.

Travellin’ Man — On the Road Again: Opportunist du’jour

Senator John Boozman, hardly in office 2 months and he has launched into another international travel extravaganza including Burkina Faso, Uganda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Israel, Turkey and Germany. Politicians evidently have an obligatory duty to stop by Israel to get their marching orders from Benjamin Netanyahu and the little postage stamp of terror, Israel, subsidized by U.S. forced redistribution to the tune of about $15 billion per year.
