Our Foundation Is Rotting

There is one thing that homeowners never really think about, but which, if left untreated, can cause devastation to their property…termites. Termites, once they infest a home can eat away at the foundation, leaving the house in ruins and uninhabitable.

In a way, you could say that our nation has been infested with termites. However, instead of the kind that eats away at the wooden foundation which supports a home, these termites are ideas, beliefs, and principles that eat away at the foundation upon which this nation was built.

Our founding fathers, collectively, were the architects who drew up the plans upon which this republic was to be built. The writings they left us, if they had been read and understood, would have ensured that our nation would have endured, and prospered.

Our nation’s first president, George Washington once declared, “The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon.” Instead, we have seen not only Presidents, but Congresses as well, overstepping the limitations placed upon them by that document.

Washington, furthermore, provided us with a warning when he said, “Let the reins of government then be braced and held with a steady hand, and every violation of the constitution be reprehended.”

John Adams, our second president, once said, “We have no government armed in power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.”

The termites that I spoke of, which have infested this nation, are a undermining of these principles, leaving us with the commonly accepted belief that government is there to take care of our every need.

Political correctness, multiculturalism, the continued erosion of our rights, and the continued growth of our government into areas in which they regulate almost every aspect of our lives, have eroded the foundation built by our founders over two centuries ago.

What we are seeing on the news now, with the various governments attempting to cut back and reduce their spending, is only the beginning of the collapse that has become almost inevitable.

Thomas Jefferson once said, “We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude.”

Well, it appears that we made our choice, and now we are going to reap the rewards of that choice. For the most part, we have become a nation dependent upon government for services and guidance. We have lost the self sufficiency, the can-do attitude which built us into the once great nation we were.

The only question remaining to be answered is what will become of America when it crumbles? Will anarchy and chaos reign, while the government attempts to control its people with an iron fist? Or will there be enough carpenters left, who can interpret the blueprint left us by our founders who can rebuild what once was?

Thoughts to ponder…

Mr. Dickens…Getting rid of the scumbuckets in D.C. would only be half the problem. Weaning people off government handouts would be far more difficult if you ask me.

  2. “Saint Peter don’t you call me cause I can’t go. I owe my soul to the company Store.” We will all be serfs of the FED. Banks will eventually own this country, they already control it and soon they will have deed to it. Feeble attempts to balance a budget that will not balance. The idea is ridiculous to think that a balanced budget carries a $25 Trillion Dollar debt.

Our founders are spinning in their graves because of what we have allowed in this country. They offered their lives to give this country substance. We have completely dishonored them through our inaction.

We have seen what is possible in Egypt by using a few well designed and effectively executed protests; we can bring a halt to this madness; but what then. Once the carpetbaggers are out of government, can we ensure that those that replace them will be equal to the task or equal to the predecessors?

Regardless, we certainly need to do something.

Would our own armed forces refuse to fire upon our own citizens as did the armed forces in Egypt? The police? My beliefs…..this armed carpenter is becoming more prepared every day.
