In Congress, a harder line on illegal immigrants

~ Notes from Granny ~
The political leanings of a person aren’t governed by their race or skin color. There are liberals, conservatives, middle of the roaders in all shapes and colors.

It is GREED that governs far too many folks – HOW MUCH CAN I GET FROM (insert name or party). The GOP should be concerned about governing according to the Constitution not how many (insert race or color) voters they can round up. Their JOB is to GOVERN – not campaign or count votes. They are to READ and UNDERSTAND the Constitution and then carefully study that OATH they swear to when they take office and from that point on they need to perform their job according to the Constitution and that OATH they swore to. If they lose the votes of those who are only seeking how much they can GET from the Tax Trough then they have lost a class of people who are nothing more than a BURDEN to all of America… they have lost PARASITES – blood sucking vermin who need to be removed from the benefit roles they now feed off of.

It is one thing for a person to be so disabled they can’t do anything but we have far more who are living off the backs of Americans who (1) ARE HERE ILLEGALLY – (2) ARE TOO LAZY TO WORK – (3) ARE DOUBLE DIPPING THE SYSTEM – (4) ARE OVERPAID FOR THE WORK THEY PERFORM.

This ‘new group’ entering Congress need to take a hard look at the pay and benefits of all who are drawing checks from tax funds. Start at the TOP in WDC and each State. Work down the list and begin the REDUCTIONS IN PAY at the TOP in each area. That means not only that monthly paycheck but the benefits, pensions, travels, anything that gets paid for by tax funds. All those things need to be drastically trimmed back – America has NO MONEY TO PAY THESE WITH.

What has been going on is the TOP DOGS (and I do mean DOGS) keep all their pay and benefits and make the cuts on those who are doing the work – those who can’t do a thing about the costs at any level because they are the ones holding it up from the bottom and their voices can’t be heard over the bullhorns of the TOP DOGS HOWL.

Performance Auditing is a MUST – it is time to dig out the weeds, rake off the leaves and other debris, time to AERATE and let some AIR and nutrients reach the roots – time to decide if it is more important to have lawn or a food crop growing in certain areas. Those areas (agencies and departments) that exist simply because they have been there for 50+ years need to be examined to see if they are really even needed. We have far too many ORNAMENTAL plantings in government that need to be removed.

We need to root out all those noxious weeds so they don’t grow back. We have been fertilizing them for so long they really think they are the best crop in America when in fact, they are overtaking the good plants and smothering them – much like Kudzu in the South has done to native vegetation and Scotch Broom in the Pac. N.W.

Reduce the FOOD (pay & benefits) and that will cause many to die off and seek nourishment elsewhere and then dig out the rest and pave over those areas that aren’t of any useful purpose.

And let no one forget (cause I am going to keep screaming this point) to tell Boehner his FIRST job is to force Obama to PROVE he is a NATURAL BORN AMERICAN and is eligible to even be on American soil mush less sit in OUR White House. There is NO OTHER SUBJECT OR MORE IMPORTANCE to the nation. Until it is proven beyond any doubt to all Americans that Obama is eligible to legally sit in the Oval Office nothing else must take place. We must have a Legally eligible man sitting in the oval office to act as our President. All others are FOREIGN OCCUPATION FORCES and all they do, sign, mandate is under the force of a foreign dictator. IF you fail to hammer Boehner daily with this one demand then you are as guilty of treason as those who sit in political office who refuse to do their job and make sure we are being governed according to the Constitution. His phone number 202-225-6205

We do not need a Homeland Security Dept. All that has done is PROTECT ILLEGALS and destroy more of our RIGHTS. We do not need a TSA either – what we need are men in office who will enforce existing laws related to immigration and close the borders – begin PROFILING – and cease all foreign aid to any nation that allows their people to illegally enter America. Foreign aid shouldn’t be to begin with but at this point in time we can use it to *persuade* those nations who think America is their personal teat to suck off of.

If Boehner and the new guys fail to demand PROOF of where The Fraud was born, that he is a *NATURAL BORN AMERICAN* – then you all know that the new guys are the same as the old guys – AGENTS OF DESTRUCTION.

In Congress, a harder line on illegal immigrants

WASHINGTON (AP) — The end of the year means a turnover of House control from Democratic to Republican and, with it, Congress’ approach to immigration.

In a matter of weeks, Congress will go from trying to help young, illegal immigrants become legal to debating whether children born to parents who are in the country illegally should continue to enjoy automatic U.S. citizenship.

Such a hardened approach – and the rhetoric certain to accompany it – should resonate with the GOP faithful who helped swing the House in Republicans’ favor. But it also could further hurt the GOP in its endeavor to grab a large enough share of the growing Latino vote to win the White House and the Senate majority in 2012.

Legislation to test interpretations of the 14th Amendment as granting citizenship to children of illegal immigrants will emerge early next session. That is likely to be followed by attempts to force employers to use a still-developing web system, dubbed E-Verify, to check that all of their employees are in the U.S. legally.

There could be proposed curbs on federal spending in cities that don’t do enough to identify people who are in the country illegally and attempts to reduce the numbers of legal immigrants. Democrats ended the year failing for a second time to win passage of the Dream Act, which would have given hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants a chance at legal status.

House Republicans will try to fill the immigration reform vacuum left by Democrats with legislation designed to send illegal immigrants packing and deter others from trying to come to the U.S.

Democrats, who will still control the Senate, will be playing defense against harsh immigration enforcement measures, mindful of their need to keep on good footing with Hispanic voters. But a slimmer majority and an eye on 2012 may prevent Senate Democrats from bringing to the floor any sweeping immigration bill, or even a limited one that hints at providing legal status to people in the country illegally.

President Barack Obama could be a wild card.

He’ll have at his disposal his veto power should a bill denying citizenship to children of illegal immigrants make it to his desk. But Obama also has made cracking down on employers a key part of his administration’s immigration enforcement tactics.

Hispanic voters and their allies will look for Obama to broker a deal on immigration as he did on tax cuts and health care. After the Dream Act failed in the Senate this month, Obama said his administration would not give up on the measure. “At a minimum we should be able to get Dream done. So I’m going to go back at it,” he said.

The president has taken heavy hits in Spanish-language and ethnic media for failing to keep his promise to address immigration promptly and taking it off the agenda last summer. His administration’s continued deportations of immigrants – a record 393,000 in the 2010 fiscal year – have also made tenuous his relationship with Hispanic voters.

John Morton, who oversees Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said in a recent conference call that there are no plans to change the agency’s enforcement tactics, which are focused on immigrants who commit crimes but also have led to detaining and deporting many immigrants who have not committed crimes.

The agency also will continue to expand Secure Communities, the program that allows immigration officials to check fingerprints of all people booked into jail to see if they are in the country illegally. Both illegal immigrants and residents can end up being deported under the program, which the Homeland Security Department hopes to expand nationwide by 2013.

Many of those attending a recent gathering of conservative Hispanics in Washington warned that another round of tough laws surrounded by ugly anti-immigrant discussions could doom the GOP’s 2012 chances.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a possible 2012 candidate, cited Meg Whitman’s failed gubernatorial bid in California despite her high spending. When 22 percent of the electorate is Latino, candidates can’t win without a vigorous presence in the Hispanic community and a “message that is understandable and involves respect,” Gingrich said. Even so, Gingrich was unwilling to call on his fellow Republican senators to drop their opposition to the Dream Act, saying the legislation should not have been considered without giving lawmakers a chance to amend it.

The next Congress will be populated with many newcomers elected on a platform of tougher immigration enforcement. They’ll have ready ears in Republican Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, who will chair the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. Steve King of Iowa, who is expected to chair the committee’s immigration subcommittee.

That’s a recipe for more measures aimed at immigration enforcement, including requiring businesses to use E-Verify rather than eyeballing paper documents to check workers’ citizenship and legal residency status.

“I’ve already told the business community it’s going to happen,” said Beto Cardenas, executive counsel to Americans for Immigration Reform, a coalition of business leaders who support overhauling immigration laws. Changes to immigration law contained in appropriations and authorization bills, where immigration enforcement hawks are likely to tuck some measures, would also be tough to reject.

But more controversial measures such as attempts to deny citizenship to children of people who are in the U.S. without permission could be tempered by GOP leaders aware of the need to curry more favor with Hispanic voters.

Above is the constant mantra of the pro-amnesty, open borders crowd; politicians must embrace massive illegal alien immigration in order to win elections. The trouble with that approach to frame the issue is that the American people are more and more having none of it. The GOP has only about 35% of the voters and the same is true of Democrats. It is Independents that hold the balance of power, not Hispanics. The inevitable consequences of CHEAP LABOR economic policy enacted over the past 30+ years are hitting the US economy hard, and middle class workers are bearing the brunt of the near economic collapse. They are beginning to look at the consequences of pro-illegal alien policies on their lives.

Nothing can be more toxic to CHEAP LABOR massive immigration than public knowledge of its consequences. There are many sites on the web quite able to provide that information. I personally really like NumbersUSA.org for its unbiased approach that provides reliable information and was to take action without bashing illegal aliens.
