Foreclosure battle leads Gilbert homeowner to tangled trail

Katherine Christensen was sitting in the kitchen of her Gilbert home when she opened a packet from a lender. She wasn’t prepared for the sheet of paper slipped in among several other letters and documents inside. Christensen knew she was in trouble with her house, but didn’t think it had come to this.

In Congress, a harder line on illegal immigrants

~ Notes from Granny ~
The political leanings of a person aren’t governed by their race or skin color. There are liberals, conservatives, middle of the roaders in all shapes and colors.

It is GREED that governs far too many folks – HOW MUCH CAN I GET FROM (insert name or party). The GOP should be concerned about governing according to the Constitution not how many (insert race or color) voters they can round up. Their JOB is to GOVERN – not campaign or count votes. They are to READ and UNDERSTAND the Constitution and then carefully study that OATH they swear to when they take office and from that point on they need to perform their job according to the Constitution and that OATH they swore to.

Obama Returns to End-of-Life Plan That Caused Stir

When a proposal to encourage end-of-life planning touched off a political storm over “death panels,” Democrats dropped it from legislation to overhaul the health care system. But the Obama administration will achieve the same goal by regulation, starting Jan. 1.

Under the new policy, outlined in a Medicare regulation, the government will pay doctors who advise patients on options for end-of-life care, which may include advance directives to forgo aggressive life-sustaining treatment.

My Christmas Gift To America

I told myself that I was not going to write anything on Christmas Day, that I was going to give people a rest from my incessant nagging. But this story angered me, and now I need to vent that anger. I know that very few people will even check their e mail today, but at least I’ll have gotten this out of my system.

A few days back a women had her Christmas plans ruined when the TSA jackboots handcuffed her for not allowing them to grope her breast during a patdown. Claire Hirschkind could not pass through the backscatter x-ray machine due to a pacemaker type device in her chest.

Dickens: Our “Flea” Market Economy

No, this is not a misprint. I think we are now living in a Flea Market Economy. The idea for this post came from a friend of mine, Chicago Johnny Vegas (his stage name) who during a conversation this morning mentioned that there is no such thing as the “Free Market” economy any more. His comment struck a chord with me. He’s right. We now live in the world’s largest “Flea” market. American is for sale for the best discount and cheapest price. This is our new mantra and it is now the way of the economy. Everything we do is driven by cost and profit. The only way to survive now is to make whatever financial arrangements you can for the lowest possible price.

Fail: Politics, Law And “Free Enterprise” – Aka “Monkey See, Monkey Do”.

During my “post Marine Corps”, 29 year career (1-25 -1960 through 12-31-1988) as a Federal Correctional Officer in three Federal Prison Facilities , including Leavenworth, I “absorbed a college education” about one of most powerful “psychological triggers” of contempt for the system –, and the law —, in “rank and file” Americans . Especially Americans who are -, or who have been politically, legally and financially exploited by “the PAC money powered and protected ruling class”. Tens of millions of victims of the Wall Street Meltdown recently got a very bitter and revolting taste of -, AND THE BILL FOR–, the PAC money politics and unfettered, un-regulated, unchecked -, and unscrupulous “free enterprise” that millions of other Americans have been laboring under for decades.

New Rules: You And The IRS This January

The new ObamaCare1099 rule for reporting of all cash, credit and check business transactions of $600 or more is scheduled to begin January of 2012. This is really an extension of the 2008 Housing and Recovery Act IRS rules that start this January when merchant banks and PayPal will report business sales directly to the IRS (the reporting threshold is $20,000 and 200 transactions a year).

Ross: More Gloom And Doom

On April 11, 1912, the unthinkable happened; the luxury liner the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank. Many people felt the Titanic was unsinkable, yet two and one half hours after striking that iceberg, it was on it’s way to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean.

Although it took a single iceberg to sink the Titanic, other ships have been sunk by multiple objects penetrating their hulls. For instance, on 6 July, 1943, the USS Helena ( CL 50) , a light class cruiser, was sunk at the Battle of Kula Gulf by three Japanese torpedoes. I know this because my father was aboard that ship and survived to tell the story to me.

Caruba: Making Predictions for 2011

In ancient times a soothsayer could make a good living divining the meaning of chicken bones and shiny pebbles. The modern version is usually some journalist who, looking back over his shoulder, decides he can predict the future. These are often the same people who fail to predict the outcome of elections, sports team rankings, and, of course, the weather.

Who, for example, could have predicted that, in November 2009, the world would be treated to thousands of emails between a handful of utterly deceitful “climate scientists” who were rigging the data in computer models to ensure that everyone remained scared to death of “global warming”?
