Boy have Americans been played by their government. For some reason the American people aren’t much smarter than a dog. It seems that if you put a moving rabbit out in front of a bunch of greyhounds, they will run their hearts out trying to catch it. Dangle a carrot in front of a pig and he’ll go through Hell and high water in pursuit. Put a free meal out in front of an idiot American and they will beat a path to your door and be your slave forever.

Distribute an un-employment check to the un-employed and they will find reasons not to get a job. Provide welfare to the undeserving and they will procreate generations of welfare recipients. Take money from the young by rule of law and dole it back to them in monthly checks when they are old, with no benefit for interest earned during the interim, they will not plan for their old age. Offer an illegal alien free food, free clothing, free housing, free health care and free education and millions will pour across our borders, at minimal risk, in search of the great American pig trough, offered by no other country on the planet.

Make promises to the multitudes with other people’s money and eventually other people’s money will run dry. When the pig trough is no longer full, the pigs will riot in the streets, burn cars, break windows, trash businesses and trample their own in the rush and demand, under threat of un-bridled violence, that the pig trough fillers keep their promises. That is the evolution of a socialist government, which will, in time, break down into chaos, mayhem, financial bankruptcy and angry, unruly mobs. That is America’s future if we stay on the course of entitlements that we have no way to pay for, except by borrowing money we don’t have, or can ever pay back. It is already happening in Europe under the same failed, governing model.

But to the hapless idiots that buy into the “free” everything mindset, especially if the “free” everything is being provided by government, their path will take them inside the high, fortified fences government installs around the pig trough and they become prisoners for life. In return for their “free” everything, they promise undying loyalty to the providers and their vote come election time. Far worse than being locked in the prison surrounding the pig trough, their decision to take the “free” everything, robs their soul of pride, self-reliance and independence and robs their body of freedom and liberty. They won’t even try to break free, being happy and content in their new-found comfort and security. In the end they become weak in spirit, bereft of conscience and wholly dependent on an entity that has no honor, integrity, honesty or morality, nor any allegiance to the rule of law.

For over 100 years, government has been buying off different constituent groups with promises of free lunches and subsidies for not working, or not producing. Because we are such a rich country, government has gotten away with providing the free lunches from the public treasury. But as the throngs of idiots with their hands out clamored for more, government went to borrowing to fund their promises. As long as their were countries that would fund our growing debt, all was well. That is until now.

No lender will continue to lend a borrower money, when the borrower never pays back the principal and accruing interest. Eventually, the lender will cut the borrower off. When that happens is when the lender decides that the borrower is no longer a good risk. America, with its debt at or above its gross domestic product, is no longer a good risk and either the lender will cut America off from any more borrowing, or the lender will increase the interest rate on the rising debt to make it commensurate with the growing risk. In either case, the borrower goes into bankruptcy and becomes another failed experiment, in a very long list of countries who toyed with socialism and lost. Unfortunately, those that called the shots run away in the dark of night, in the hopes of avoiding the very chaos they created.

We, as a country, either unravel the entitlement spider web in which we are now entangled, or find ourselves on the street with no money, no job, no assets, no order, no stability, no freedom, no liberty, no sovereignty, no pursuit of happiness, no country and no hope, except the hope of those who would rather die in battle, than be a slave to a tyrannical government.

If we don’t become a little smarter than a dumb dog chasing a rabbit it never catches, we deserve everything we get. Their are some of us in the multitudes who will not accept this as the final end to the only truly free country on Earth and will do whatever it takes to re-claim our unalienable rights that are a gift from our creator. If we have any hope of re-claiming our freedom, we must wean America off entitlements before it’s too late, or we might just as well kiss a free America goodbye and succumb to mediocrity, waste, fraud, abuse and perpetual corruption, along with the institution of global governance. If that is our choice, the shining light on the hill will be snuffed out forever and freedom will have been relegated of the scrap heap of forgotten dreams, as a side-bar in some dusty old history book.
