Ewart: The Widening Gulf Between Left and Right!

The other day, mostly out of curiousity, we Googled our organization, the National Association of Rural Landowners. We were somewhat taken aback by the first few websites that came up, that took us to task. One might wonder why Google would put several negative websites immediately after our website listing? Was it by accident, or on purpose? We tend to lean towards the latter.

One of the websites stuck out more than the others, as it was labeled Crooks and Liars. One of the articles that caught our eye on that website was an article by David Neiwert entitled: “Brown Shirts: Town Hall Meetings Are Indeed Riddled With Right Wing Extremists“. The article was from August of 2009, in response to the sometimes heated town hall meetings over Obama Care at the time.

Now we fully expect the other side to attempt to demonize any other position than their own, so the comments in the article itself about our organization, were typical of the liberal position. Here is the opening salvo:

“Along with their extremist beliefs — including a bevy of conspiracy theories and scapegoating narratives, as well as an unmistakable racial animus — the violent and thuggish tendencies of the Patriot movement is a matter of well-established public record. So it is not a surprise to see such behavior bubbling up whenever and wherever they are involving themselves.”

“A prime example of this is a 10-minute rant advocating a “Second Civil War” if President Obama is able to enact his “socialist” agenda, delivered by a man named Ron Ewart, a King County resident who runs an outfit called the National Association of Rural Landowners, which has been built off the bones of the organizations left behind by the late crackpot Aaron Russo.”

“NARLO, you see, is not only a big “Tea Party” supporter, it is also a major sponsor. It’s listed by ResistNet as one of the sponsors of the Sept. 12 “Tea Party” in Washington, D.C.”

The only thing accurate about Neiwert’s allegations are that we are a “Tea Party” supporter, a national co-sponsor of the 9-12 March on Washington DC in September of 2009 and we did create the video. Beyond that, it is pure fiction.

Neiwert goes on to say:

“In addition to calling for open, armed revolt against the Obama administration, Ewart and NARLO have produced videos, which indulges a number of ugly racial stereotypes in attacking President Obama as “the essence of evil” and a man who intends to “destroy America.”

Let us emphasize, never have any of our articles or writings called for open revolt against the United States Government, nor have there been any racial overtones. Just the opposite is true. These assertions are total fabrications. The video Neiwert refers to is the one entitled “The Coming Civil War”, (produced by NARLO Galaxy Productions) which was a prediction of a “possible” outcome, if America stays on its current path. If there is going to be a civil war, it will have been the government that started it by purposely dividing people up between the producers (who have to pay) and the takers who get to receive from the all-too-generous with other people’s money, our benevolent government.

But it wasn’t the article that alarmed us. We expect this kind of fear response when one side sees their “golden cookie” melting away in the blazing sun of truth. Instead, it was the 185 comments in sympathy with the article, that opened up a window to what the other side really thinks about those Americans that carry the conservative label. If you don’t know what the other side thinks, you should read the comments following the article. It is an eye opener, at least it was for us.

It would appear that the government has been very successful in splitting Americans into two camps, whose differences widen almost by the day and using those differences to increase their power. One side has been bought off (literally) with irrational compassion, a guilt trip, government free lunches and a set of rules that can change at the whim of those in power, or worse, by establishing a quasi Democracy (in direct contrast to a Constitutional Republic) that borders on mob rule.

The conservative side would just as soon see government get the Hell out of the way and let America be the great, exceptional country it was meant to be, under a proud flag of freedom and a set of solid principles (the U. S. Constitution) with which free men and women can co-exist with one another in peace, productivity, creativity and generosity.

Albert Einsten stated that: “Peace cannot be kept by force, it can only be achieved by understanding.”

Given that, how do we bridge the widening gulf between people with diabolically different view points? How do we achieve peace through understanding, as Mr. Einstein admonishes? How do we reconcile an ideology that rationalizes un-constitutional government “stealing” (at the point of a gun) from one segment of society and handing it over to another segment, when the receiving segment (in the millions) has determined that it is easier to live off of the labor of others, rather than work for their own needs? How can we achieve understanding when one side is perfectly ok with alien invaders coming into our land and immediately reaping social benefits that other legal Americans must work to pay?

As a case in point, we encourage our readers to watch the interview with President Obama’s Aunt, with Jack Williams and Lisa Hughes of CBS. This Kenyan lady has resided in the Boston area for years as an illegal alien, while engorging on America’s safety net. Her belief is, she is entitled to it. You can view the video:

The equally disturbing part of all this, is that millions of legal Americans (mostly on the liberal side) hold this same view. But we digress.

On the environment and energy issues, how do we convince the other side that shutting off our oil reserves, not adding new power to our already over-loaded electric grid, not building new refineries so that we have more gasoline for our cars, trucks, trains and airplanes, (along with plastics, paints and resins, all coming from crude oil) is a dead-end policy? How can we get them to understand that their radical environmental policy has rendered constitutional property rights virtually non existent? How many articles by credible scientists debunking man-caused global warming will it take before they finally give up this planet-wide racketeering and income redistribution scheme?

What will it take before they realize that the second Amendment was never designed so that hunters could go hunting with rifles, pistols, or bow and arrows? It was designed by the Framers of our Constitution so that the populace would be armed in case the government decided to enter into the world of tyranny. Even Japan knew better than to invade the Continental United States in World War II, as they feared there would be a gun behind every tree and they were right.

How many United Nations socialist initiatives will be adopted and ratified by the United States government before American sovereignty is blurred beyond recognition? If American sovereignty is blurred, then its wealth, resources, freedom and liberty are blurred as well. Blurred freedom is slavery by any other name. How can the other side not get it?

Why does the other side not understand that it was the states that created the Federal Government, not the other way around and that all powers not specifically enumerated to the Federal Government in the Constitution, belong to the states and the people? And as such, the states have a constitutional right under the 9th and 10th Amendments, to reject federal government advances, when those advances clearly go beyond the 17 enumerated powers? We submit that the federal government has gone so far beyond its enumerated powers, that it has entered the world of tyranny and will approach, in time, absolute power, if not held in check by the states and the people.

Given the wide gulf that separates the American people, can understanding itself (whatever that means) preserve peace and our Constitutional Republic at the same time? In what areas should the two sides compromise? Should we, who strongly believe in constitutional principles, give up property rights? In exchange for what? Should we continue to allow the grand theft by the Federal Government of the sweat and labor of those who work and are responsible for their own lives, so that government can hand over their ill-gotten booty to those who do not work, illegal aliens, or those that are not deserving? What would we, who want less government, have to give up to stop the theft? If we agreed to give up our guns, what would the other side give up in return? (Giving up our guns will never happen ….. willingly!)

We submit that if those who wear the conservative label have to give up hard and fast, hard-won constitutional principles that were paid for by the blood and treasure of the millions who sacrificed their lives for freedom, what would we have left? What we would have left, ladies and gentlemen, is indentured servitude to the mob who would rule America without any rules. In such event, eventually, and make no mistake, there would be civil war between the producers and the takers. The outcome of that war is pre-ordained. The producers would win, as they always do and the takers just might be forced to get off their dead behinds and join the ranks of the producers.

    Ron,

Just read the article by David Niewert and the comments that followed, as you suggested.

All have voiced, almost verbatim, the same “arguments” (for lack of a better word), as do my hard-headed, “intellectual”, liberal, progressive friends. I say almost because my friends arguments, even though equally senseless, have less profanity and more class.

I have found it useless to get any kind of thoughtful, reasoned answer to questions such as you have posed above. I conclude the reason to be because either people have impregnable scales on their eyes, or they are on the “dole”.

    It’s pointless….so, come what may. I’m ready!
