Codevilla : America’s Ruling Class – And the Perils of Revolution

As over-leveraged investment houses began to fail in September 2008, the leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties, of major corporations, and opinion leaders stretching from the National Review magazine (and the Wall Street Journal) on the right to the Nation magazine on the left, agreed that spending some $700 billion to buy the investors’ “toxic assets” was the only alternative to the U.S. economy’s “systemic collapse.”

Bentley: In Arizona, illegal aliens, felons and multi-state residents vote unabated

‘His office ensures that only legal state residents are able to register to vote’

PHOENIX – Although Arizona voters passed Proposition 200 in 2004, which, in part, was supposed to require proof of citizenship to register to vote and require voters to present ID at the polls, those who shouldn’t register or vote continue to do so unabated.

According to Maricopa County Elections Department Director of Communications Yvonne Reed, unless a felon checks the box on his voter registration form stating he is indeed a felon, there is no system to flag felons to verify if their voting rights have been restored.

Ross: I’m Not That Smart People, I Just Care More Than Most

The other day I paid a visit to my chiropractor to see if he could reduce some pain I have been experiencing in my lower back. His partner and I have been corresponding regularly about politics, and I often send him copies of my articles. As I was walking back to the waiting room, the partner saw me and said something along the lines, “Hey Doc, you want to know anything at all about the Constitution, or the writings of the founding fathers, ask this guy, he is the smartest person I know when it comes to those things.”

Fail: Democrats and Republicans

Democrat and Republican strategists all vie.
for the “honor of crafting the best camouflaged lie”.
Then point their fingers at America’s youth,
For their “me first values” and contempt for the truth!

“Hurray for ME, to Hell with YOU,

Hirschhorn: How Voting Perpetuates Evil

For many years Americans have justified voting for candidates they were not especially thrilled with by convincing themselves that the lesser evil deserved to win office. The fraction of people totally committed to one of the two major parties is small. Most Americans see themselves as independents, liberals, conservatives, progressives or libertarians, but not as loyal Democrats or Republicans. Most Americans are fed up with both major parties, not just incumbents.

Baroud: The Violence Debate: Teaching the Oppressed How to Fight Oppression

An American activist once gave me a book she wrote detailing her experiences in Palestine. The largely visual volume documented her journey of the occupied West Bank, rife with barbered wires, checkpoints, soldiers and tanks. It also highlighted how Palestinians resisted the occupation peacefully, in contrast to the prevalent media depictions linking Palestinian resistance to violence.

Ewart: The Widening Gulf Between Left and Right!

The other day, mostly out of curiousity, we Googled our organization, the National Association of Rural Landowners. We were somewhat taken aback by the first few websites that came up, that took us to task. One might wonder why Google would put several negative websites immediately after our website listing? Was it by accident, or on purpose? We tend to lean towards the latter.

Caruba: NPR Fires Juan Williams for Telling the Truth

The headline on the National Public Radio website said, “NPR Ends Williams’ Contract After Muslim Remarks”, but it should have said, “NPR Fires Williams for Telling the Truth.”

I am familiar with Juan Williams as Fox News Channel’s designated liberal. I have often wondered how Williams found time for NPR because he is on Fox morning, noon and night.

Ross: Two Weeks Till Election And Some People Still Don’t Get It

I was watching NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams last night. During the broadcast Mr. Williams and Chuck Todd were discussing the upcoming election and the fact that the public is expressing a lot of anti-government sentiment.

I got the feeling that, although they were reporting on it, they couldn’t comprehend it. It is almost as if they thought it were an aberration, something that reasonable people should not be feeling. I thought to myself, these people just don’t get it, do they?
