Although my last article did not receive the amount, and type of comments that I had hoped, there was one comment that I felt was worthy of discussion. I won’t bother quoting it, but it can be found HERE.

While this individual did not come out and say it, he implied that we must vote for Republicans so as to stop the agenda of the Democrats. He did say that, “…it is necessary for Republicans, whether the best candidates or not, to gain control of, at least, one house of Congress.” That statement is what I found most disturbing, and leaving me with little optimism for the future of our once great nation.

I find a tone of defeatism in that sentiment, that we must settle for second best in an election just so we can slow the destruction of our rights and liberty, instead of halting it altogether.

It is almost like if you are a foster child and you have the choice of choosing between two families, and in one family you would be beaten daily, and the other you would be beaten only once a week. You are still going to get beaten, only not as often.

That is the way I feel about voting for the lesser of two evils in an election, you are still going to get screwed, only with one choice they might use some lubrication so it doesn’t hurt so much.

Furthermore, we had 8 years of a Republican held Congress, with a sitting Republican president, and what did we get for it? We got 8 years without any action being taken to close our borders and stop the flow of illegal aliens into this country.

We got two wars which were unconstitutional, in that Congress did not declare war on either Iraq or Afghanistan. I would love to have seen Congress issue a declaration of war, stating that we are now at war with the nation of Terror. I don’t know about you, but I have checked the maps, and there is no country called Terror.

You know, James Madison once said, “It is a universal truth that the loss of liberty at home is to be charged to the provisions against danger, real or pretended, from abroad.”

Also, John Quincy Adams clearly stated, “Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be. But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.”

I have asked this a thousand times, and I have yet to receive a satisfactory answer, why did we attack Iraq and Afghanistan when the majority of the so-called suicide bombers were either from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, or Egypt.

I can maybe see Afghanistan, as they allowed terrorists to operate training camps within their borders. But Iraq, None of the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqi. If you want my opinion, I think we invaded Iraq because Bush had a score to settle.

To date these wars have cost us $1,093,674,000,000 and climbing by the second. Are we any safer from terror after spending all that money? You would think with that much money being spent to protect us from people that want to see us dead, that they could have spent some of it to build a fence that could have prevented anyone with that intent from easily sneaking across our border.

On top of that we saw all kinds of new laws passed which, we were told, were written to protect us from these frightening terrorists. Now they can read our e-mails, listen in on our phone conversations, go through our financial records, and worse, declare us domestic terrorists just because we believe in the same principles as our founding fathers.

I don’t want to get too involved in this, but dammit we need to tell people who, or what, we are at war with, if indeed we are at war. Are we at war with Iraq and Afghanistan? If not, why did we go in and topple the existing regime in Iraq? Just because they were a perceived threat to us? Shit, I bet North Korea feels the same way about us. How would we feel if they sent their army here to topple our government? I bet we would be mighty pissed too. Maybe pissed off enough to start randomly killing a few Koreans. Then who would be considered terrorists?

I am not saying that there may be groups who despise us, and want to see us all dead. But for crying out loud, that is no excuse for invading two countries, and infringing upon the God given rights of the citizens whom you represent!

So no, I cannot see that the Republicans are ANY better than the so-called evil Democrats and their agenda. If you believe that, you are either naïve, or a fool. I will let you decide which for yourself.

I think that the only way this country can be saved is by a civil war by patriots who, just as were those in 1775, are willing to fight for their liberty. I also think the government knows this, and knows that there are certain issues which we will not tolerate, such as stricter gun control laws.

I think they will continue to whittle away at our other rights until someone gets pissed off enough and starts shooting. Then they will come down with all their might and impose martial law, restricting the remaining rights of everyone else.

Either that, or they will patiently await while the few remaining patriots die off of natural causes, and then the sheep who still believe that our country can be saved at the ballot box are the only ones remaining.

Whichever happens, they will have gotten what they want, complete control over us, leaving us at there complete mercy. So go ahead, keep voting for the lesser of two evils if you choose. But the way I see it, evil is evil, no matter what raiment it puts on. Just remember, as the Greek playwright Sophocles once said, “All a man’s affairs become diseased when he wishes to cure evils by evils.”

Me, I intend to stand up for what is good, and what is right, no matter whether I am a majority, or a lone voice. As Robert E. Lee once said, “I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing, than to incur the reproach of our consciences and posterity.”

So, to all those who think the Republicans hold the answer in the upcoming election, go ahead, vote Republican. Me, I’ll vote my conscience, and I’ll sleep soundly at night knowing I didn’t settle for second best.
