Ross: I know I’m an insignificant pissant that nobody pays any attention to…but still

I am not what you call an active member of the Tea Party movement, having only attended one meeting. I went to get a feel for what my local chapter stood for and what their vision for America was.

My first meeting left a bitter taste in my mouth, but still I hope that maybe if I continue to make blog posts here I might possibly influence some peoples thinking.

If anyone has been watching the news they will see that there has been a lot of coverage over candidates winning primaries who are so called ‘Tea Party’ choices.

Why is it that this chapter of the Tea Party Patriots refuses to endorse a candidate that represents the same values they do? Surely Jerry Brown doesn’t. But if you look closely at the issues, neither does Meg Whitman.

The only logical choice is Chelene Nightingale. I know, I know she doesn’t stand a chance in hell of winning and we need to do whatever we can to make sure no democrats win.

I have heard all that before and it makes me want to puke! When are people going to grow a spine and do what is right, not what feels good? When are they going to support a candidate who stands for their beliefs, not one who might be able to win?

If the Tea Party movement would all fall in behind Chelene, she might just win. Has that ever crossed any of your minds? Didn’t think so. You people are so brainwashed into believing that it is right versus left, liberal versus conservative, Republican versus Democrat, that you have forgotten what it means to stand up for what is RIGHT!

In Patrick Henry’s famous Give Me Liberty speech, he said, “There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free– if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending–if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained–we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of hosts is all that is left us!

They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? ”

While we have not YET come to arms, the principle still applies. When are we, and by we I mean those who wish for a return to limited government, going to be stronger? Next week, next year? When are we going to stop trying to win for the sake of winning, and stand for a candidate who is what this state needs?

Go ahead, keep worrying about finding a candidate who can beat a democrat, and watch our state continue to whither away. When it does it will be because people didn’t have the courage to put their money where their mouths were and stand up for their principles.
