Letter to an Editor: Hasta la vista, baby!
The following was a letter to the editor of the LA Times. I must say he is a little ticked off, as you can tell. He also pinpointed California’s financial problem without saying so.
Hector,
I can’t believe that a major metropolitan paper like the LA Times would publish drivel like your distortion-laden column I had the misfortune to read today. The citizens of Arizona passed a law that makes it necessary to prove you are in their state LEGALLY. They are tired of paying TWO BILLION taxpayer dollars a year in medical and educational benefits to people in their state ILLEGALLY. They are tired of the Mexican drug traffickers, kidnappings (389 last year), traffic accidents, and crime caused by ILLEGAL immigrants in their state. They are tired of citizens of a foreign country overcrowding and bankrupting their emergency rooms and schools. They have the ABSOLUTE RIGHT to defend their state when the federal government fails to do so just like I have the right to put three hollow-points in the chest of the guy who’s trying to kick in my front door when the cops don’t show up.
It has been the law in this country since 1940 that foreign nationals be able to produce proof that they are here LEGALLY by way of visa, green card, etc. This “Produce your papers” and the allusions to Nazi Germany is a bunch of dishonest claptrap. If you took time to read the Arizona law (assuming you can read English) you would see that police officers may only inquire as to an individuals immigration status in the course of a “legal contact”. The problem with you and Mexicans like you is the fact that you have this sense of entitlement that you can enter OUR COUNTRY as you please. You come from a culture and a country with no respect for the law or the rule of law. The United States is a sovereign nation with the ABSOLUTE RIGHT to decide who does and does not enter our country.
What amuses me the most is the fact that if our illegal immigration problem was due to the influx of SWEDES, you wouldn’t have written ONE WORD in the defense of their rights. It is only because they are Hispanics like you that you leap to their defense. I find it ironic that you are truer to your Hispanic roots than you are to your American citizenship, especially since the Hispanic culture is a broke-dick, busted-ass, ignorant-ass, uneducated, going-nowhere culture and has been for the last 500 years, and in all likelihood, will be for the NEXT 500 years.
When I moved to California in 1969, Los Angeles was a clean prosperous city. Now it’s broke under the weight of massive entitlements. Now we need concertina wire to protect our freeway signs from Hispano-moron graffiti “artists’. What an enlightened culture you come from that believes that vandalizing anothers property is an art form. Over 400 California families have lost loved ones to ILLEGAL immigrant murderers. 40% of the criminals incarcerated in our prisons at CALIFORNIA TAXPAYER EXPENSE, are ILLEGAL immigrants. Thank you so much for our overcrowded ERs, schools and freeways. Thanks also for the gangs and the drive-by shootings. In all fairness though, I like the tacos.
If I want to enter Mexico , France , England , Germany or ANY country on this earth, I need to produce a passport to do so. It’s THEIR COUNTRY and I need to ask permission to do so. HOW DARE you and your brethren think that they have some God-given right to flout our laws and come into our country of their own accord. You and people like you are the textbook example of why the fewer Mexicans we have in our country, the better our country will be. We manage to produce a steady supply of home-grown idiots on our own, thanks very much (Exhibit A – Obama).
Good luck with your boycotts and your protests. Just remember; amigo, 70% of the people in Arizona and 65% of Americans LOVE this law. Every time you put together thousands of protesters, you piss off MILLIONS of people like me.
Hasta la vista, baby!
Tom Edwards

Lindsay Lohan has again been brought before the courts to answer to her breaking of the law and DUI activity. I like most believe people should be given a second chance but third and forth are two too many when it comes to public safety. I for one feel if the star struck legal system wants to give her probation, a day or two in jail, or other minor slaps on the wrists then fine but if this poor little star should just happen to have a few drinks or hits of whatever and drives her car into someone or their child or loved one then I think the Judges need to be held accountable. I mean they should be removed from the bench, fined or even do their little miss muffets time for her. Don’t play with my safety just get her autograph and give her the proper treatment, jail time, or whatever other activity appropriate for those that can not honor and respect the law.
Stars get enough special treatment, High salaries, adoration, best seats in the restaurants, perks and more perks…They get more than enough but I don’t think a free Get out of Jail free card should be one of them…from a former Hollywood talent agent who knows just how “special” they are not…

Pretty ignorant stuff.
I respect your right to have an opinion but I have to disagree with the constitutionality of SB1070. Specifically the problem I see is the initial stop (lines 20-27). It specifies that “For any lawful stop, detainment or arrest…in the enforcement of other laws…where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien and unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of that person.”. Now the issue that I see with this verbiage is the following:
1) Why does the verbiage state “For any lawful stop, detainment or arrest” instead of “For any PERSON who is lawfully stopped, detained, or arrested”? The verbiage “FOR ANY PERSON” is in the federal law but for some reason not present in SB1070.
2) The lack of the word PERSON in my point above makes me feel that this was intentionally worded this way so that an officer could scrutinize those present at the lawful stop, or in other words, everyone in a vehicle, even though the driver is the only one who allegedly committed a violation for instance. Guilt by association leads to guilt by suspicion?
3) Where in the federal law do we find the words “WHEN PRACTICABLE”? How are we supposed to believe that this law will be enforced without racially profiling an individual if we are leaving the decision of WHEN to enforce that law up to an officer?
4) How is a Hispanic citizen such as myself supposed to feel comfortable knowing that my wife, my kids and myself can be scrutinized at any time on an officer’s whim? Many supporters say that an officer already has this power. If so, then what is the point of SB1070?
5) Many supporters of this law state emphatically that SB1070 mirrors federal law yet as I have pointed out above, that isn’t exactly true.
In conclusion, I do not support open borders or amnesty but I also do not support any legislation that seeks to violate the rights of citizens. I do not support any extremist groups, Latino or otherwise, that condone divisiveness in our society and nation.
I dont get it, Crime rate in Arizona is at an all time LOW
and 2 billion is spent on Illegals? what about the 9 billion they have contributed to Social Security which they will never claim?
Nice try, I know you wanted to impress your neo nazi tea bagger friends, “your trailer park buddies,’ but you FAILED

Good ole’ Me-he-co…. hypocrites of the HIGHEST order…..
HELL YES!!!!! Spot on Mr. Edwards….. FYI Phoenix is SECOND ON EARTH IN KIDNAPPING….. let me say that again…SECOND IN THE WORLD..ahead of Bogota, Columbia….ahead of Afghanistan… (Mexico City is number #1). Phoenix has no Russian Mob, no Japansese Yakuza, No Cosa Nostra orchestrating the kidnappings……. It’s “THE CULTURE” as we Arizonans know the code word for our THIRD-WORLD FAILED NARCO STATE neighbors to the South…….. M E X I C O……… We are tired of the third-world invasion….. Brilliant Piece Mr. Edwards…. How dare you not have the liberal white guilt syndrome and dare speak up against the poor, law-breaking, entitled Mexicans.. And for something you might find very interesting……. Mexico is about to pass an immigration amendment called “Article 67″ which TIGHTENS their already STRICT, draconian immigration laws…. What would be great is if the U.S. adopted Mexico’s immigration laws…..
Thank you Tom Edward. As a current resident (and native) of Phoenix, It amazes me the comments people make about our state from their comfy arm chairs in Chicago. You know those who feel they understand runaway illegal aliens (Canadians) over-running their states and depleting the money meant to provide services to their own, legal citizens.
Thank you for actually getting it.
Funny thing about this passionate letter, is that this guy actually thinks that 1070 even begins to solve the porous border problem or the illegal alien problem in AZ. I wonder how long it will take him to realize how misplaced his passion is.
Great letter, Tom Edwards. I live in New Jersey, but have been following this whole Arizona Law situation pretty closely, as i have a good friend living out there who keeps all of us up-to-date. I am a caucasian male who can’t for the life of me figure out how Mexican Nationals can believe that it is not only ok, but their God-given right to invade our country. They are more than welcome to come here, as are all peoples, but, for God’s sake, do it legally. And please learn the language! Nothing is more aggravating than watching on tv the interviews of Mexicans who have been in this country for 15 years, have a whole car full of off-spring, and having to talk through an interpreter. Yet, they seem to be able to speak English when it comes to financial matters. As far as crime is concerned, I would like everyone to know that if I were to drive a car illegally, being a white 58 year-old male, born-here, the cops would have me in jail so fast it isn’t funny. Obumma (intentional) and his asinine cohorts had better step up to the plate, or there isn’t going to be a ball-park! Right=on, Arizona
The ONLY reason why California and it’s liberal media are against the Arizona Law, is because once inacted, California will be the recipeint of several hundred thousand illegals aliens “immigrating” from Arizona.
How very rude of Mr. Edwards to speak the truth!
What will it take for America to throw out these idiots that think they can come and go as they please? Too bad we can’t just secure our borders. Maybe after Ogama is gone, and a real American is our president.
I bet they love you at work, don’t they Neal? hb Florida Cracka Boy.
YEAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Leave it to my brother, Neal! I love it.
Does it give any of the rest of you ideas????
Rock ON!!!
I know one place it will be hung come Monday Morning…hehehehe
Hung on the walls? Hung next to the engraved Scriptures? Hmmmmm…
I’d like to see it hung around the neck of our gaggle of ‘swinging‘ traitors – as in ROPE!
Louis Turner is RIGHT ON! ! ! This letter shouldbe framed and hung on the walls in Washington DC…next to all the engraved Scriptures!
I find it absolutely fantastic that the L A Times or any other California paper for that matter, published this letter. Bravo L A times! hb
This whole letter should be framed and hung on the walls of Washington DC and every home in The United States Of America.
