I’m Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen. I want to explain SB 1070 which I voted for and was just signed by Governor Jan Brewer.

Mexico’s president criticized the new Arizona immigration law for being discriminatory. How tough are Mexican immigration laws?

Mexican President Felipe Calderón criticized the new Arizona immigration law on Monday, saying that it “opens the door to intolerance, hate, and discrimination.” * So how tough are Mexican immigration laws?

They’re pretty strict, but not often enforced. Until recently, entering Mexico without proper documentation was a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, as codified in the country’s General Law of Population.

Whenever I’d watch old WWII movies and saw the occupying Nazi soldiers demand papers from French citizens I’d think how lucky we are that here in America we don’t have to be subjected to this treatment. Since the Arizona governor signed an immigration law, Democrats and their fellow alarmists in the MSM are desperately trying to equate it with Nazism and the civil rights abuse of Hispanics. President Obama hinted that the federal government may have to circumvent the law.

While politicians such as President Barack Obama denigrate the government of Arizona and “activists” attempt to punish that state’s citizens, these so-called social justice paragons ignore the fact that the U.S. is Mexico’s de facto penal colony.

Complex problems are associated with illegal aliens who commit crimes. Criminal aliens tend to be drug-oriented and violent, often preying on members of their own cultures. If deported, they frequently use new names to reenter the United States and establish residence in different cities.

This week we’ve seen a flurry of supercharged rhetoric after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law a bill which merely seeks to strengthen state law on immigration.

Boiled down, what the new Arizona law does is to duplicate federal immigration law, making the commission of what are now federal crimes to be state crimes. It’s illegal under federal law to walk the streets without documents of immigration status anywhere in the country, including Arizona; this law just makes that illegal under state law as well.

Open borders advocates are livid that the State of Arizona has enacted a new law authorizing State law enforcement personnel to arrest illegal aliens. The Reverend Al Sharpton is threatening to march. The mayor of San Francisco has declared Arizona off limits as a travel destination. The national government of Mexico has issued travel warnings. President Barack Obama is contemplating bringing a federal lawsuit against the State. Some are calling for a boycott of the State.

So, why all the fuss?
