When the Soviets concluded their pull out from Afghanistan in February 1989, the United States government abruptly lost interest in the country. A devastated economic infrastructure, entrenched poverty, deep-rooted factionalism and lack of international aid caused the country to descend into complete chaos. Internal violence also worsened, but it was no longer an American concern. All that mattered was that the Cold War rival had been defeated. Mission accomplished.

PHOENIX – MEChA clubs have infiltrated college and high school campuses from coast to coast since the late 1960s and early ’70s, promoting anti-white racism in favor of a “bronze continent,” while teaching Latino, Chicano or Hispanic students that assimilation into American culture, language and customs is tantamount to becoming white.

The new Kerry-Lieberman climate bill mandates a 17% reduction in US carbon dioxide emissions by 2020. It first targets power plants that provide reliable, affordable electricity for American homes, schools, hospitals, offices and factories. Six years later, it further hobbles the manufacturing sector itself.

Randall O’Toole Misses the Fine Print

At a recent property rights conference in Bozeman, Montana, anti-Smart Growth spokesman Randall O’Toole was taking part in a panel discussion when he was asked a question concerning my opposition to Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development. Said the questioner, “DeWeese calls the sustainability doctrine ‘a complete agenda of control,’ that has been largely embraced by most aspects of the government.” O’Toole was asked to comment on that.

rossOn May 5th, five students were sent home from Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill California because the were wearing T-shirts displaying the American Flag. For those of you unawares, Morgan Hill is about a half hours drive south of San Jose CA.

The students say that school officials claimed that their t-shirts were incendiary because they were displayed on a day which celebrates the Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo.

The collapse of the dollar to less than a 1,200th of an ounce of gold is emerging as one of the astonishing stories of our time.

Yet even more astonishing is the lack of focus on that story by the intelligentsia in our press and politics. It is a silence on which these columns have remarked a number of times of late, including on March 14, 2008, right after the value of the greenback toppled below a thousandth of an ounce of gold.
