Many read the Revelation and some accept it as prophetic. Others look at it and classify it as a bunch of bunk. Let’s look at it again. Specifically, let us look at Revelation chapter eighteen and rather than viewing it as a dream by some mystic, let’s look at it in light of history. Prophets, fortune tellers, and seers into the future understand and believe the axiom that history repeats its self. Perhaps, just perhaps the demise of Babylon in Revelation chapter eighteen is not speaking about historic Babylon but a modern day Babylon who is in the process of repeating the fate of the historic Babylon thousands of years ago. Further if there is indeed a modern day Babylon, America fits that profile to the tee. Join with me as we go through this chapter in Revelation and see how America could very well be the modern Babylon spoken of in the book of Revelation thousands of years ago.

Revelation 18 from the New American Standard Bible translation

Rev 18:1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illumined with his glory. The one being called the angel is a witness to the events which would soon follow.

Rev 18:2 And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird. Babylon is a name given to the worst of sinful nations upon the earth. Taking this definition of Babylon, can there be any doubt that the United States of America, Inc., as it is in these days, is a type of Babylon? It seems likely. We have murdered and continue to do so countless million unborn babies, virtually everyone of our elected representatives has sold into corruption, the president of the nation is nothing but a figure head, the court systems at all levels are corrupt, under color of law they kidnap our children, we have polluted dozens of nations with depleted uranium which will destroy the land and lives of others for tens of thousands of years, we have countless undeclared wars and kill millions of civilians in dozens of countries for absolutely no valid reason, there is no wealth left for everything has turned into debt and we have polluted the world with our worthless paper currency, the morals of the people have left them, homosexuality which once was not tolerated in our society runs amuck, as does transvestitism and transsexualism, our people no longer worship the God of the bible but worship false gods … the gods of materialism, everyone covets their neighbor, sexual immorality and divorce are at all time highs, and the people care more about their make believe pleasures than they do about the generations they produced which will follow them. Yes indeed, the once great America has become a type of Babylon and as such will suffer the fate, the judgment of Babylon as foretold.

Rev 18:3 “For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality.” This has also come to pass. In America’s formative years it became the envy of the other nations of the world. It had sound money and it could be trusted, it amassed the greatest manufacturing capability and technology the world had ever seen and it was known for quality. Everyone wanted to be like America. Everyone dreamed about coming to America that greatest of nations the world had heretofore ever seen. America then truly was a beacon of light sitting upon the highest panicle of the world for all to see and admire. Then it was hit with corruption. That corruption spread like wildfire and in a few short decades the once great America that was admired became a decadent nation which was despised by virtually every other nation. America’s lust for power and control did not stop at its own borders. It began to export its corruption, its immorality, its filth around the world to the other nations, bringing them into its evil web of corruption and immorality. America became drunk on the wine of its own corruption and so did many other nations. Those who resisted importing America’s corruption and immorality were targeted to be blasted off the face of the earth with its bombs. America became rich, on paper, through its corruption and those nations which played along with America in its worldwide acts of terrorism likewise enriched themselves while the rest lie in abject poverty and its people left to die of disease and starvation

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. - Revelation, 20: 11-12

Rev 18:4 I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues; Those with a conscious left heard that small still voice within them from time to time showing them what was really going on in Babylon, this America, which they lived in. When that small voice inside cried out to them to come out of her, it did not mean to flee to some other nation in the world, because America had exported its immorality throughout the world and there would be no place to flee to. Rather come out of her meant that they should begin to break free from its corrupting influence. To stop listening to its continual propaganda spewed from its mouth 24/7 via the television, radio, print media, and internet. It means to begin to live honest and moral lives again. Most who live in America, despite what they might see themselves like, have also fallen into lives of corruption and immorality. It means that we must set aside what we currently think about ourselves and get inside of us and commune again with that still small voice that resides there and begin to sort things out, to see things as they really are, to see us as we really are and then rid our lives of all traces of corruption and immorality which has taken up residence in us. And in the place of the corruption we have cast out from our selves, we learn again what it means to live lives where we truly love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Come out of her my people and don’t participate in the sins of this Babylon of today else the judgment which is about to, and has already begun, to strike it down will likewise strike you down with it. Recall the man named Lot, he was a moral man who was not corrupt living in a city state which was another type of Babylon and because he came out of her, did not participate in its corruption and immorality, he was spared, go and do likewise friend.

Rev 18:5  for her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. In the world we live in, there are a few immutable laws we have come to know. One such law is that if we throw an object upwards, it will fall back down again. Another such immutable law is that for every reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction. Don’t think for an instant that the powers that be that govern this universe and put its laws into effect will not bring a just compensation to the wicked, immoral, and corrupt nation that America has become. There is no doubt in this writers mind that such compensation will come. Some people call such compensation righteous judgment. America over these past several decades certainly has piled up enough sin to its account to make it ripe for such a righteous judgment.

Rev 18:6 “Pay her back even as she has paid, and give back to her double according to her deeds; in the cup which she has mixed, mix twice as much for her. If our witness to our future in making this proclamation is correct, America will not only be judged a compensation for its sins of corruption and immorality but will receive a two fold penalty for all the misery it has brought upon the world. All the more reason to come out of her to escape such a horrible wrath to come.

Rev 18:7 “To the degree that she glorified herself and lived sensuously, to the same degree give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, ‘I SIT as A QUEEN AND I AM NOT A WIDOW, and will never see mourning.’ We are all guilty in the sins of America, some more and some to a lesser degree, but I doubt there are any of us that do not harbor a measure of guilt. How many times have we sat eating our meals, hardly if ever in want of anything, knowing in the back of our minds that literally millions starve in the world daily and rarely do anything to help them? How often do we pay taxes to a government we know is corrupt and is using that money to kill and injure millions of innocent people around the globe? How often do we vote for a person to represent us to our government when we know they are not the best person for the position. We may justify such to ourselves by saying that a particular person was not good but the lesser between two evils. Friend, evil is evil got it. How many times do we do things we know are not right but do them anyway? How many times do we pay a fine or go along with something we know was not true and just because it was easier to pay the fine? The list is endless friend. You get the picture, we get the nation we deserve and we deserve this corrupt Babylon we are now in possession of because we chose to take the easy road, to live the easy life, to continually live the life of perceived luxury and entertainment with its seemingly endless thrills rather than listen to that small voice inside and come out of her … come out of Babylon. We sat on our individual thrones saying I am so grateful I am not like that pitiful soul over there – rather than lending a loving hand to that pitiful soul. Because the majority of us still refuse to come out of her, Babylon, the required just compensation is sure.

Rev 18:8 “For this reason in one day her plagues will come, pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her is strong. Our witness informs us that America, a type of Babylon’s compensation or judgment will be strong and swift. America has already begun its compensation. The banking system has all but collapsed, we have virtually no manufacturing left in the country, the jobless rate continues to climb … etc. But these friend are but the warning signs. Just as a storm begins out with a sprinkle and then fashions its self into a lengthy flash flood in moments, so to will our judgment be. What we see now around us are but the sprinkles of the coming storm. The flash flood of destruction as compensation for our collective sins will follow and America the modern day Babylon will fall and with it all those who remained to stay with her rather than leave her while they still had time.

Rev 18:9 “And the kings of the earth, who committed acts of immorality and lived sensuously with her, will weep and lament over her when they see the smoke of her burning, And those other nations which allied themselves with America the modern day Babylon, who adopted its ways and partook in its corruption and immorality will likewise fall into judgment and will receive their own compensation for their sins. For they, the other nations, did not ever foresee a day when America would cease to be and by their aligning themselves with this modern day Babylon they became an extension of it. So when America falls so to will all the other nations which aligned with it since they were dependent upon it for their corrupt existence.

Rev 18:10 standing at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in one hour your judgment has come.’ Those few nations who remained in the world and did not allow themselves to become contaminated by the corruption and the immorality of America the Babylon, will be spared judgment. They will watch Babylon fall along with all her offspring and weep and mourn for the America that once was and could have been if it had remained the light of the world and could have lifted all nations of the world into the same light which it had once been blessed with. These few remaining nations mourned for the lost potential to humanity that could have been, had America the Babylon remained clean, pure and moral nation state.

Rev 18:11 “And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargoes any more– In America’s lust and greed for more and more perceived wealth through corruption and immorality, it was a major importer of goods from other nations. With the fall of America, that great export income to other nations was lost and the merchants and production plants around the world weep and mourn for their new found poverty for their markets had dried up.

Rev 18:12 cargoes of gold and silver and precious stones and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood and every article of ivory and every article made from very costly wood and bronze and iron and marble,

Rev 18:13 and cinnamon and spice and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and cargoes of horses and chariots and slaves and human lives.

Rev 18:14 “The fruit you long for has gone from you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and men will no longer find them.

Rev 18:15 “The merchants of these things, who became rich from her, will stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning,

Rev 18:16 saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, she who was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls; In the place the once great and wealthy nation of America stood is now nothing but a pile of useless rubble.

Rev 18:17 for in one hour such great wealth has been laid waste!’ And every shipmaster and every passenger and sailor, and as many as make their living by the sea, stood at a distance, When America, modern Babylon, is destroyed by judgment, it will not fall alone. Those who had aligned themselves with it and partook of its unjust and corrupt ways will also fall by judgment, a compensation, of their own. But even those few nations who did not partake of her wine of corruption and immorality, while not undergoing a judgment of their nation, will nevertheless suffer greatly. These other nations did business with the late great America. They sold their goods and services to it. A good deal of their income was derived on providing the American’s, with their never ending lust for stuff, all the material gadgets they wanted. This afforded many in their countries to live higher quality of lives. But when America falls, all these countries, while not being judged, will suffer for there will be no America remaining to buy any of their wares and they will over night be forced into poverty and want.

Rev 18:18 and were crying out as they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What city is like the great city?‘ Everyone in every nation, especially those in America could never in their wildest imaginations see a world in which there was no America. Everyone, and especially American’s, in their own minds eye, see America existing forever. They say that America is the greatest nation that ever existed and is too great, too large, too rich, and too powerful to ever fall. But in the aftermath of its judgment, when this modern Babylon is destroyed beyond recognition, then they will come to realize that no nation is too powerful to fail. All nations who thrive on corruption, fraud, and immorality have and will continue to fail, that is a given by the law of just compensation. Only those nations which truly are governed and its people live on the premise that they should love their neighbors everywhere as they love themselves continue to endure.

Rev 18:19 “And they threw dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea became rich by her wealth, for in one hour she has been laid waste!‘ After the judgment, the fall of America the modern day Babylon and the nations who endorsed its corruption and immorality, those nations who remain, who were not part of its judgment because they refused to accept its sinful ways wept and mourned. They were not weeping for the former United States of America, which had perished. Rather, their weeping and mourning was for themselves. For the loss they would now have to endure, for the hardships which would now befall them without anyone remaining to purchase from them. They were mourning not for the once great America but for the poverty and want they foresaw would shortly befall them as a consequence of America’s fall.

Rev 18:20 “Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, because God has pronounced judgment for you against her.” Then, after those initial days of mourning, by the nations who did not fall into judgment because they chose not to follow the ways of the corrupt and immoral Babylon, their tears will dry up and their crying will turn into gaiety, laughing and rejoicing because they turned their hearts from their loss of income to a much broader vision, that of a future new world. They could now see that they had a world, even though one somewhat in ashes and rubble, that was going to be the foundation for a new world, a world free of the greed, the corruption, and the immorality that had previously prevailed. Their hearts were glad to have been the chosen ones to partake in such a noble cause as this.

Rev 18:21 Then a strong angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down with violence, and will not be found any longer. America was given a chance to truly become and remain a beacon of light to the world. America was not up to the challenge. It got off to a good start but then became arrogant, selfish, better than everyone else, and then corruption and immorality began to run amok. Failing in its calling to be that beacon of light to the world, when America finally falls in its judgment, those who remain, who escaped its judgment will not care to remember it. The once great America will be as a stone cast into the depths of the sea never to be found or thought of again. It didn’t have to be that way. But America, its people, preferred to live in the lies and deceptions of an evil ruling class than to live out lives that would keep America’s shining light burning bright not only for it and its people but the denizens of all nations of the world.

Rev 18:22 “And the sound of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters will not be heard in you any longer; and no craftsman of any craft will be found in you any longer; and the sound of a mill will not be heard in you any longer; The day America, modern Babylon died.

Rev 18:23 and the light of a lamp will not shine in you any longer; and the voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you any longer; for your merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery. The day America, modern Babylon was buried.

Rev 18:24 “And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of all who have been slain on the earth.”

And as American, modern Babylon, is buried, buried with it will be the guilt of the blood of hundreds of million babies who were aborted, the blood of the millions of soldiers who were killed in its needless wars, in the blood of hundreds of millions of other countries who were killed in its needless wars, and the blood of the countless lives ruined both on and off its shores by its corruption, fraud, and its immorality.

America, modern Babylon has fallen … has fallen.
