Army Ranger 1st Lieutenant Michael Behenna is serving a twenty year sentence in Leavenworth for defending himself against a known terrorist. Michael deserves a fair trial where all evidence is presented.

Dear Senator Durbin;

As a constituent of yours, It is much to my chagrin, that I have to take the time to admonish you of your responsibilities as a United States Senator, to represent all of the citizens of our country, whether residing here, or serving to secure our liberty over seas.

My concern is with the negligent legal defense of our United States troops, particularly; Lieutenant Michael Behenna, and a group of convicted soldiers known as The Leavenworth 10.

While you were getting your education in one of our finest schools, I was spending my time crawling around in the elephant grass in Viet Nam.

I never complained, I felt that it was my duty to serve, and a privilege for being lucky enough to be a citizen of the United States

I’ve often heard you make the statement that you didn’t serve in the armed forces during this era, because you weren’t drafted.

You could have volunteered senator, that option was always open to you, but obviously, you chose the easy way out, and that is what brings me to this point.

Veterans have always felt a spirit of comradery, or an es-sprit de-corps, towards one another, and a person who did not serve wouldn’t understand this concept of looking out for one another’s well being.

It just wouldn’t be in your nature to go that extra mile to make sure justice was served, as in the case of Lt. Behenna, and the Leavenworth 10, I’m afraid their convictions were the result of the governments easy way out to appease a foreign government.

When I served my country as a United States Marine, I felt that I had the country’s full faith and credit behind me.

Now it’s a different story, with both the Bush, and the Obama administrations, your rules of engagement defy any logic to engage in combat, the last result of redress.

When you send troops off to engage in combat, you don’t have time to second guess a situation, or you risk putting your troops in peril. Combat isn’t a police action where you make arrests and bring a defendant to court. It’s a life and death situation where quick thinking results in life or death, and the life we want to save is the life of an American “volunteer.”

We send our young sons, daughters, and neighbors, off to secure our liberty. Our tax dollars are used to transform these young children into instinctive fighting machines. When they go off to war, following orders to engage in what they have been trained to do, a wide margin of latitude must be given to them if they error, acting under the color of law, and it has become obvious to me, that this is not what is being done.

Instead we find our leaders appeasing foreign governments for expediency, the easy way out, and this I find to be reprehensible, Senator Durbin.

How do you expect to keep a viable military to serve as our governments primary duty when the United States government keeps on bringing our troops up on charges for mistreating the enemy. It’s like a form of entrapment, join the army so we can bust you and put you in jail, perpetuating jobs for our penal institutions, and our legal dynasty.

The true mark of a leader is to not ask any subordinate to do something that you, yourself,  can not do. The next best mark, if you can’t bring yourself to perform the task, is to follow up and seek justice where an injustice has occurred.

I realize that you feel safe in office, but the tide is turning in our country as citizens are getting disgusted with this oligarchy usurping the peoples interest.

An investigation is in order to see exactly why these honorable troops have been brought up on charges, if due diligence has occurred, if all witnesses have been called, if all evidence has been made part of their trials, and to see if justice has been served, rather than a witless decision by a Kangaroo court.

Senator Durbin, you can help your constituents by investigating these injustices and seeking a remedy for the release of these troops who volunteered to secure our liberty, but remain in the precarious situation of being forsaken for government expediency.

Veterans vote, and I’m going to do everything in my power to remind my radio listeners, on radio station WJJG AM 1530 Chicago, that Lt. Michael Behenna, and the Leavenworth 10, have been sold out by pandering politicians, appeasing foreign governments, who in total, aren’t worth the life of one American serviceman.
