May 2003 – In 1785, the young republic of the United States stood on shaky ground. The colonists had won their fight for independence against the Crown, however, the new concept of self-government by the people was still an experiment in the making. The long fight against British rule had created inflation, and following the war, the country suffered a paralyzing depression which led to internal revolts.
Everybody should know what an earthquake is. It is how they are caused that I would like for them to think about. Earthquakes occur when pressure that has built up between tectonic plates in our earths crust is finally released. This sudden release of tension can be felt in the form of a mild tremor, or a violent shaking which is capable of causing catastrophic damage.
That same principle can apply to people as well. I am sure you are familiar with the old saying, “The straw that broke the camels back.” When applied to a people it often means that a persons threshold for dealing with stress has been reached, and any more stress causes them to react violently to any more stimulus.
Do the names Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris ring a bell? They are the two students who went on a shooting rampage at Columbine High School. According to official police reports, bullying played a large part in pushing them to go on to commit their suicidal attack. Who knows what was the final straw that pushed them over the edge?
An essay that appeared in Science magazine back in the 1960′s explains clearly and concisely the self-destructive path we’re on in our country today.
The essay, “The Tragedy of the Commons“, showed how individuals, rationally pursuing their self-interest, could unintentionally destroy their own common existence.
A simple problem is put forth: A common grazing field is available to a community of herders. Everyone brings his or her cows there. Because there is no clear ownership, the only incentive each herder has is to bring all of his cows to graze and consume as much as possible.
Editor’s NOTE: In my opinion, protocol be damned! It’s about time someone in CONgress called a spade – er – uh – a spade.
What? ‘insensitive’ you say? Sorry folks, but the man was right. I watched it. I listened to it, as did my radio audience. I was proud of the man from South Carolina. The hell with congressional decorum – the time for the niceties are over. (Ed.)
AP News – In an extraordinary breach of congressional decorum, a Republican lawmaker shouted “You lie” at President Barack Obama during his speech to Congress Wednesday.
~ Foreword ~ It’s always an honor to have writers from other publications and/or email lists reference the Federal Observer in their writings. It’s the old adage that it’s better to have them say something, rather than nothing at all.

Say what you will, believe what you want, tell others of your deep “in the gut” support for Dictator-in-Chief Obama’s vision of change while you continue to wave good-by in the rear view mirror to the once really free America.
Keep rejoicing at the trillions of wasted and unaccountable dollars that have gone nowhere except in the deep pockets of bankers, social activist groups, radicals on the left who view entitlements as one of the eleven (you just thought their were ten) commandments of God Himself and of course do not dismiss the well-oiled police state environment that continues to arm and use every conceivable branch of government they can find or invent.
100 Stories of Victims of Government Health Care Expose Truth About President Obama’s “Public Option.”
Washington D.C.: If President Obama is, as he said in his speech tonight, concerned about “heartbreaking” examples of a health care system gone wrong, he can find plenty by looking at the countries that have already adopted his so-called “public option” for health care, says the National Center for Public Policy Research.
The National Center has just released a compilation of 100 stories of victims of government-run health care, “Shattered Lives: 100 Victims of Government Health Care”.
Just how stupid can Americans be? Evidently, it hasn’t occurred to them that if the government is paying the bill, they can dictate the terms of your behavior, or deny the service. If you owe a debt to someone, you are indebted to them and they technically own you and can set the terms of repayment as well as your behavior, as long as there is a remaining balance on the debt.
When a person borrows money to buy a home or a car, take a look at the fine print in the contract. Every word, every line, every sentence and every paragraph is written in favor of the lender and it is written by high-paid lawyers who have a long history of tying people up into legal knots. If you violate the terms of the contract, you can end up in a peck of trouble that could cost you thousands to “fix”. And this is just a private lender. Just think if it was the government you were beholden to?
Beware of those on the right who attack the left but ignore what those on the right are doing! Likewise beware of those on the left who attack those on the right while ignoring what those on the left are doing!
They have only the agenda of keeping us battling one another while they take us to the “New World Order”. Do you see much difference in what these leaders have to say?
