Let Me Set The Record Straight
A Patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.
The writings of our nation’s founding fathers are full of similar comments as the above quote by Edward Abbey. They all felt, as did Samuel Adams, that, “The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks.”
Often people peruse over our nations historical documents without actually paying attention to the words being used. The founders were quite meticulous with their choices of words, each word was chosen carefully to express a particular meaning.
For instance, from the Declaration of Independence we read, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
