Someone Please Stop This Train, I Want Off

ross_authrAugust 3, 2009I sometimes get the impression when I tell people that I believe that America will cease to exist, that suddenly the entire country is just going to vanish off the face of the earth, like the lost continent of Atlantis. I know, it sounds far-fetched, but that is what people seem to think when I tell them that this country is dying.

America is not going to vanish, it will still be on the maps. The difference will be that it will not be the America that our founders had hoped for, or the America that I grew up to love. You see, America was more than just another country, it was more than just a land vast land with bountiful resources. It was a place were people could live that was built on the principle of individual rights and liberty.

In the movie Gladiator, starring Russell Crowe, there is a scene where the Emperor, Marcus Aurelius states to Maximus, “There was once a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish… it was so fragile.”

Peasants with pitchforks and torches

39_steps_blogAugust 1, 2009 – In yesterday’s column I wrote that Congress has grown fearful of the citizens.  Rather than facing their constituents back home during the summer recess, many Congressmen and Senators have canceled town hall meetings and decided instead to remain hidden.

To be sure, there is nothing particularly wrong with this scenario from a purely American point of view.  Our Founders were convinced that once the citizens began to fear their government, the Republic was in deep trouble, and that elected representatives need to have a healthy fear of the electorate.

It has been so long since elected officials in Washington were scared of the people that the present circumstances are bound to come as a shock.

Ewart: It’s Not Obama’s Job!

“The two enemies of the people are government and criminals, so let us tie the first one down with the chains of the constitution, so the first will not become the legalized version of the second.” Thomas Jefferson

obama_newmanAugust 2, 2009We have not heeded the wise counsel and admonitions of one of our Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson and we have allowed the government to become the criminal.  It’s not Obama’s job to provide or find you a job.  It’s not Obama’s job to pay you when you don’t have one.  It is not Obama’s job to hold your hand when you are down.  It certainly isn’t Obama’s job to provide you with health care, Medicare, Medicaid, social security, welfare or student loans, nor is it his job to force you into vaccinations for alleged world pandemics.   We are Americans.  We are supposed to be able to hold our own heads up.  We are supposed to be our own salvation.  That’s what separates us from the rest of the people of the world.  We are a CAN DO country, or were until we succumbed to the siren call of free “gifts” from the criminals in government.

The Israeli Conundrum: ‘How to Deal with Iran’

israel_thumb_new_1August 2, 2009Israeli officials face a conundrum that may take more than military muscle-flexing to resolve: how to deal with Iran? The solution to this dilemma will require no less than sheer political genius.

It must be frustrating for Israeli policymakers and their friends and backers elsewhere to stand idle as Iran openly carries on with its nuclear-enrichment program, facing nothing but United States and European chest-thumping and a mere threat of more sanctions, which will unlikely bend Iranian resolve.

It’s doubly frustrating considering the relative ease that led the US, its timid coalition and Israeli cheerleaders to unleash a war against Iraq.

Contract with your Doctor

screwedbluecrossedandtatooed_thumbAugust 2, 2009With all of the ruckus regarding the ObamaCare (he really doesn’t) Bill, or the KennedyLegacy HellCare Bill, curetnly being discussed all over the nation, some, bright individual realized that amongst the first things each and everyone of us should do, is to require our medical Practioners (or is it ‘Practicers’?) to sign a contract, which will indemnify said doctor for all harm, which comes our way due to his/her diagnosis and prescriptions administered.

Thus, the following should be considered BY ALL!

Physicians Warranty of Vaccine Safety

Is it all worth it???

So let’s see now – THEY want to give us shots!

Maybe we’ll have a few for them as well.

Take It From Thomas, I Haven’t Been Lying To You

paine_t_stamp_thumbAugust 1, 2009In the year 1776 Thomas Paine put out a pamphlet that is credited with providing the impetus for our nation’s war for independence from Britain. That pamphlet was entitled Common Sense, and shortly after its publication Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence, which outlined the principles upon which these United States were to be governed as a free and independent nation.

On my best day I pale in comparison to the eloquence and composition that Paine possessed, yet my goal remains strikingly similar. All my feeble attempts at writing are directed towards awakening the public to the fact that their government is abusing the powers we have given them, and in doing so they are stripping us of our God-given rights and liberty.
