August 17, 2009 – Barack Obama’s approval ratings are now in the high 40s. I predict that by this time next year, they will be in the low 40s or maybe even the high 30s.
A confluence of forces, among them the long anticipated retirement of the Baby Boomers and their consequent burdens on both Social Security & Medicare, the second round of foreclosures from ARMs, commercial real estate foreclosures which are just beginning, the coming and underpublicized Sally Mae defaults, the continued shortfall of tax revenues, the consequent monetization of the deficit and national debt and numerous other problems, will combine to swamp the federal government’s abilities to meet its obligations.
August 17, 2009 – Let’s say for a minute you live in one of those gated communities filled with tract houses that all look the same. The rules of this community are simple. You are free to do as you wish within the boundaries of your property, as long as your actions do not hinder your neighbors from enjoying the same rights.
One day the entire community gets together and decides to hire a landscaping firm to come in and maintain your yards for you at a small fee per household.
Now you are still free to do as you wish with your property, the landscapers will just maintain the property according to the terms stated of the contract.
August 17, 2009 – I was watching Obama’s town hall meeting in Portsmouth this past week, and I’ve got to give it to Barack and his boys . . . I haven’t seen choreography that tight since the finale of So You Think You Can Dance.
I bet if the Queen of Scream, Mary Murphy, was watching that little Cirque du Soleil she would have been yelling, “Barack, I think I hear a whistle blowing! Yep, I hear it! Woo woo! It’s the Hot Tamale Train, and it’s coming to pick you up, honey! Get your chocolate milkshake on the Hot Tamale Train! Woo woo woo!” Then her head would spin 360 degrees as she rises from her seat, hikes up her dress and runs straight through a sheetrock wall and down the studio alley until Nigel summons Ted Nugent to come and shoot her with an elephant tranquilizing dart.
August 17, 2009 – Democratic politicians and the MSM (Main Stream Media) consider it a given that concerns about the “end-of-life counseling” provision in Section 1233 of a House-drafted version of health care legislation are nothing but the unfounded product of right-wing fear-mongering. But Charles Lane of the Washington Post, certainly no right-winger, has taken a careful look at Section 1233 and finds that he too is concerned.
Lane argues that the “consultations” provided for in Section 1233, while not mandatory, are not “purely voluntary” either as the Democrats have claimed.
August 17, 2009 – Prior to Congress taking one of its myriad vacations – this one entitled the “August Recess”–Dictator-in-Chief Obama held both an email campaign and conference calls to train his (paid?) Obama supporters and his willing Democrat Congressional sycophants on how to smother opposition to ObamaCare and other ObamaPrograms designed to destroy We-the-People. Currently, as Obama and members of his administration cannot argue the merits of ObamaCare – due to the fact that that there are no virtues for humans contained within the bill–the now inarguably tyrannical and totalitarian leader of the USA has sicced his SEIU and others on any Americans who protest against his faux-healthcare program. And those he has instructed are now beginning to exhibit an Obama full attack mode against We-the-People who object to Obama owning our bodies and deciding whether we will be allowed to live or die.
August 17, 2009 – Has anyone noticed that the only markets that have failed in America are the ones distorted with major government controls, regulations, subsidies, or taxpayer guarantees?
Blacks are not given enough credit for being trendsetters in America.
Blacks started playing the blues, jazz, and R&B, then the rest of America started playing them. Blacks discovered the politics of victimhood, then the rest of America started catching on.
Black women got into having babies without marriage. Then white women started getting into it and the incidence of white out-of-wedlock births today — almost 30 percent — is higher than the black rate in the 1960′s.
Blacks bought into dependency and the welfare state. Now the rest of America has bought in.
August 16, 2009 – With the exception of the final entry; each of the following are readers comments, left as comments on numerous columns on the Federal Observer. We begin with several comments left by readers in opposition to what many Americans – and readers to this publication – stand for.
For your dancing and dining entertainment, we once more provide you the link for H.R. 3200 – The HellCare Package as it sits in the House of (non)Representatives, as of this writing.
Not only are there many more columns posted on the Federal Observer about this important issue, but we have fielded many, many more comments via email, than we are able to post here. Over 98% of which agree with our stand. GET GOVERNMENT OUT OF OUR AFFAIRS!
August 16, 2009 - This is hardly the rational order of things. An overpowering military occupation was meant to be resisted by an equally determined, focused and unyielding national movement, hell-bent on liberation at any cost and by any means. This is the unwritten law that has governed and shielded successful national liberation projects throughout history. The Fatah movement, under Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, however, wants to alter that order, meeting Israeli colonialism with ill-defined ‘pragmatism’, extreme violence with press statements laden with endless clichés that mostly go unreported, and a determined Israeli attempt at squashing Palestinian aspirations with political tribalism, factional decay and internal divisions.
Indeed, the long delayed Fatah Congress, held in Bethlehem on August 4 has underscored the obvious: the all-encompassing movement which was meant to exact and safeguard Palestinian national rights has grown into a liability that, if anything, will continue to derail the Palestinian national project.
