Where Have All The People Gone?

opinion_blogJuly 11, 2009All around us are people who look like people, but they aren’t really people. It is written that in the later days that a strong delusion would fall upon the people and even the elect would be deceived. “Oh, but I have the light of truth, I can’t be deceived you say.” To you friend remember that those who are deceived don’t know they are deceived, else they wouldn’t be deceived. - (a Voice in the Wilderness)

There is a strong delusion which has fallen upon the land of America. One that crept in so slowly and made promises to us way out of proportion to reality that virtually everyone in the land bought into its lie. This deception was so cunning in its implementation that no one would ever see that by accepting the offering of the delusion that a trade would have to be made. That trade, take the delusion in exchange for your soul, … for your humanity. Sadly many, if not most of us have bought into the lie and traded our humanity for the delusion.

All around us are people. People … and more people … people everywhere. But I ask the question, how many of these people are really truly people and how many of them are just illusions. How many just look like people but really aren’t people anymore because they sold their birthright, their souls, for the promise of the delusion. Friend, a person without a soul is not a person. A person without a soul is simply an automation, a robot, an illusion of a person for they bought the lie of the deception and now they are part of the delusion.

What follows friend, are real life situations which it is my hope will begin to awaken you to the depth of the delusion which has swept over many of our former people. As you read through some of these situations ask yourself the question, ‘Where Have All The People Gone?’ For you will see that in our society a real person is as rare as a golden nugget. Most of what passes for people today are nothing but soulless automations of deception.

Off to the Supermarket:
On the way home from a day at the office, mom stops by day care to pick up little Johnny whom she hasn’t seen all day. Then its off to pre-school to pick up Samantha and then finally to the baby sitter to pick up the little one. As mom picks up her children, who she hasn’t seen all day there is little talk between any of them. Mom is busy chatting on her cell phone as she is doing all these things and even as she straps the baby into the car seat her cell phone is held to her ear by her shoulder. On the way home she stops at the supermarket to pick up something to make a dinner with. As she pulls into the parking lot, she is still chatting away on her cell phone. She is chatting on her cell phone as she moves the baby from the car seat to the stroller and they all go into the store with mom still chatting away on her cell phone.

What’s wrong with this story? Here is a mother of three lovely children and she has been away from them all day and rather than spending some quality time with them; listening to them and what happened during their day, teaching them important things about life, and sharing some of her day with them, she has treated them not like they were flesh and blood people with needs, wants, and feelings but like they were just like so many other things in her life which are devoid of life and are there for convenience when she cares to use them, else they are left to themselves on the shelf to collect so much dust. Is this mom, which is typical of many these days, a person or an automation, an imposter who only looks like a person? Where have all the people gone?

In the waiting room:
Well dentist day is here and its off to the dentists office. Upon entering I was the only one there. Good I thought, this is going to be a quick in and out. I like that. After signing the sign-in sheet and taking a seat, it happened and the people started coming in. First was a middle aged man. After signing in he quickly took a seat as far away from me as he could find, picked up a magazine from the table and began reading something never once looking up. He was followed by a lady with a baby in a bassinette and two other children of perhaps ages six or seven. She was talking on her cell phone as she came in and continued to do so as she sat there waiting. One of her two children, the little girl had a toy cell phone and she began a lively conversation with no one on it, emulating what she saw her mother doing. Her other child, a boy had some type of pocket electronic game thing which he began playing with. No one looking at the other or anyone else in the waiting room. Each doing their own thing apart from the other, each living out their own fantasy and delusion. None of them reaching out to anyone else. A couple more people came in and as the first man did the typical magazine thing. And even when the seats were running low in the waiting room and the next person entering had no choice but to sit right next to another, there was no eye contact, no nod, no simple little hello. They just grabbed a magazine sat down and totally ignored everyone else. Were any of these the real deal? Were they people or were they soulless automations with the bodies of people? Where have all the people gone?

At the office:
Bill and Tom have offices next to one another at the company and they are separated from one another by at most twenty feet. During the course of the day there are occasions where one of them has to pass important information on to the other. You would think that having offices right next to each other and having jobs that demanded communication between them that Bill and Tom would have gotten to know one another pretty good over the years they had been with the company. The fact of the matter is that they virtually know anything about the other. One of them would probably be hard pressed to even recognize the other if they passed by one another on the street. How can this be, you might be wondering? Each comes to work and after clocking in each goes to their respective offices. Since they come in one hour apart from the other they seldom cross paths for routine things like lunch and brakes. When one needs to ask a question or pass information to the other they use e-mail. Imagine that, offices right next to one another and rather than just walking over to the next office and taking care of business personally, they continually e-mail one another. So they come and go to work every day, working right beside the other and know nothing of the other what so ever. Are these people or have they been turned into shells that look like people? Where have all the people gone?

Eyes Wide Shut!

Eyes Wide Shut!

Long time no see … Land line experiences:

I tried to make it a point to call dad every week or so because the distance between us prohibited us getting together personally very often. I cherished these few minutes with him on the phone as we shared ourselves with one another. Then it happened, he let someone sucker him into getting what is called call waiting. When he told me he got this service added to the phone service I was baffled. What in the world do you need something like this for you are one person not a company and if someone calls and the line is busy they can call you back, so why waste the money. Well, he kept the call waiting. One time I remember, things were such that we couldn’t get together for our regular weekly call for a number of weeks. So when we connected finally, I was happy and we had a lot to catch up on. So we started our chat and then there were these nasty beeps in the background. Dad said hold on got another call, be right back. A minuet later when he came back I asked him who it was and he said someone trying to sell him something or other. I didn’t feel too good getting pre-empted by a sales person. This happened several other times in a relatively short time period, more sales people. One a newspaper. Another insurance. Another wanted to give him their credit card. I was getting frustrated with all these nonsense interruptions. Then one of his granddaughters called to say hi to him, she lives close by and they visit and talk on the phone to one another all the time and he kept me on call waiting hold for at least five minutes while he talked with her. I felt betrayed. I hadn’t talked to dad for weeks and here some sales people and relatives he sees all the time pre-empted me who had called him first. I cursed call waiting. Dad fell for the deception, the lie he just have to have the latest technology, call waiting. And for some reason rather than disable it during important calls or ignoring the beeps of another call, he was under some spell that he had to pick up any call waiting there was regardless of who he was already talking to and the circumstances. Sadly, he just could never come to see the error in this misuse of technology. How he allowed it to completely dominate and control him even to the expense of hurting another’s feelings. Was dad a person under these circumstances or an imposter in a persons body? Where have all the people gone?

Personal conversations … well until the ring:
James and Henry were talking about some things and were engaged in somewhat of a lively conversation. After they had been talking for a few minutes it happened, some musical interlude began to play from seemingly nowhere. Lo, Henry reaches down to his belt clip and removed his cell phone and answered it tempting ring. It was Harry who he had just got done talking to on the phone a few minutes prior and Harry wanted to share some more of his humorous wit with Henry. So Henry took the bait and began to have a conversation with Harry over the cell phone completely ignoring James in the process. It was as if James had totally ceased to exist. After talking to Harry on the cell for what must have been a good five minutes, he replace the cell phone in its holder on his belt and began again to talk with James as if nothing had happened. What is going on here? Here Henry was talking to a friend in person and he let some electronic gadget come between he and his friend to the point of totally ignoring his supposed friend in the flesh for some invisible digital thing going through the air? Is Henry a person or has he succumbed to the prey of the deceiver who snatched his soul? Where have all the people gone.

Hundreds if not thousands of such stories could be told. Each one of you, if you gave it some thought could add richly to the list. We see this each and every day of our lives. We as a people have allowed ourselves to come under the great deception where we no longer value human life, human fellowship, human companionship. In the place of these things that once made us human we allowed ourselves to sell our souls … our humanity … the things which made us a person for the deception of replacements and they are all around us continually tempting us to give up what little humanity we might have left.

People see these types of things all the time but give little thought to them any more. Why is that? Because we have allowed ourselves to become deceived and those who are deceived friend know not they are deceived else they would not be deceived. So incrementally we have allowed these deceptions to enter our lives and as a result of our complacency we have for the most part become soulless creatures, who look like people but are not people. Look around you friend. Look at what is happening all around you in each and every sphere of your life. Do you like what you see? Is all well on all fronts? Are you and is our nation better off today than it was forty or fifty years ago or is it worse? Look at what we have become. We have become a people who have given away its morality. We have become a people who have given away its ethic. We have become a people who have given away its sense of right and wrong. We are a people who have forsaken our founding religion and our God. Look at the pitiful state we find ourselves in today and then ask yourself, where did our humanity go? Where did all the real people go? Pray that Almighty God will open your eyes to the delusion in your own life and show you how to regain your humanity again. Reclaim your birthright. Again become a real person … one of the remnant.
