Cepeda: Socialized Medicine, Harry Truman, and Barack Obama

What do Harry Truman, Barack Obama, healthcare reform, and a pint of Jim Beam have in common?

July 30, 2009I have a big, thick leather-bound book sitting on a shelf downstairs in my library. I saw it the other day and I thought of President Barack Obama’s health care reform proposal.

The name of the book? “Socialized Medicine,” by Zolly Frank.

I thought about that book this afternoon when I read the White House press secretary’s pool report from today’s dog and pony show at the AARP.

If you hadn’t heard by now, the president was out today, drumming up support for his health care overhaul at the Washington, DC headquarters of the American Association of Retired Persons.

You ain’t pissed off enough yet!

bennett_blog_2July 30, 2009 - Fifteen years. Fifteen g-d years – and too many people just don’t get it. They whine, and complain about the system, and all that is going on in this nationa and around the world – but that’s o.k. – “Jesus will be here soon, and take us all away from these troubles. I’ze gwine gitz me a fuss-class limo-zine ride ups to Hebbin!”

The following email was received by me after I concluded my Wednesday evening broadcast:

I am so damned tired of people who say, “we can’t, they won’t listen to use; there’s nothing we can do.” I want to scream!!!! They might as well take a damned gun and shoot themselves in the damned head! Sorry, I’m pissed!

Well, hot damn baby! Welcome to my world! This is what I have been saying for a long-long – lonnnnnnnnnng time – and I sometimes believe – that it’s all for naught.

“He ain’t doin’ nuffin’ fo’ me!”

uncle_reamusJuly 27, 2009Recently, on a trip to the heartland of America, I was privileged to meet and speak with hundreds of Americans of all walks of life.

The two gentleman pictured below, Thomas Franklin and Rufus Washington have been unemployed for nearly two years – each with families to feed, clothe, and house. Each of them voted for ‘the One,’ because they were of the belief that FINALLY – a man of color had been CHOSEN to lead them, and that he would CERTAINLY have compassion for his “bruthas and sistahs” and deliver them out of bondage. They now believe otherwise.

“Let’s Not Wait, Shall We?”

Turning up the H – E – A – T!

obama_healthCongressional Health Care Reform proposals and counter proposals are getting heated debate and urgent calls for passage or rejection. Some erudite observers call for patience, a wait-and-see attitude. Let Congress come up with a final proposal, then see if it’s workable, they beseech. Why wait till Congress figures out how to put Americans into further uncertainty and likelihood of inestimable deeper debt? No proposal has yet to offer less cost, even though every proposal is supposed to be about better health quality, easier health care access, and lower health care cost. Cost saving predictions are purely theoretical, entirely dependent on reform working as reform writers presume.

There is scant agreement on ‘better’ care quality or easing access to care. Even more-or-less stauch reform supporters are caught up in political in-fighting and jockeying for control. We, the People” should not go complacently about other business and expect Congress to fix health care. Are or are not “We, the People” capable of picking our doctors and our health care plans without Congress holding our hands? We’re better off turning up heat on Congress to get its nose out of our health care management.

Page after Page of Reasons to Hate Obamacare

Here are just a few very good reasons to hate Obamacare:

obama_health• Page 22: Mandates audits of all employers that self-insure!

• Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!

• Page 30: A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process)

• Page 42: The “Health Choices Commissioner” will decide health benefits for you. You will have no choice. None.

Pelosi Vows Passage of Health-Care Overhaul

‘It Will Win’: Confidence Grows as Democrats Plan to Resume Talks

obama_healthJuly 27, 2009Defying skeptics in her party, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi vowed Sunday to overcome lingering obstacles and pass health-care reform in the House, restoring momentum to President Obama’s top domestic priority and order to her own unruly Democratic caucus.

“When I take this bill to the floor, it will win,” Pelosi (Calif.) said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “This will happen.”

The speaker, who has struggled to overcome a series of recent setbacks, raised the stakes by planning to restart talks Monday among bickering Democrats on the Energy and Commerce Committee, one of three House panels with jurisdiction over health care and where the bill stalled last week.

Editor’s NOTE: It is imperative that you don’t stop this fight. THIS MUST BE STOPPED at all costs. CALL NOW!!! Contact YOUR Representatives on the U.S. House of Representatives today. DO NOT LET THIS HAGGARD OLD HAG WIN – OR WE WILL ALL LOSE (Ed.)

I Seek Not Riches Nor Glory

ross_neal_0808July 27, 2009 – I have been told that I have a gift for writing, for putting things in terms that people can easily understand. I don’t know whether there is any truth to that or not. I only write the way I think.

I have also been told that I should write a book, that I could make lots of money and become famous. I don’t know about that either. You see, the thing is that I am not seeking riches, or fame. My goal is much loftier, I write in the hope that I can turn the lights on in people heads, to awaken them to fact that we have completely abandoned the principles upon which this country was founded. I want them to see that all of the problems that we suffer from could easily be eradicated if we returned to those principles.

Icke: … It’s the Vaccine (Stupid)

bomexspecialreport_blogJuly 25, 2009These are challenging times and we need to stay calm and think things through – not just panic and react. Fear, panic and emotional reaction got us into this mess and it is certainly not going to get us out of it.

We also need to realise – here, now – that we have long crossed the line into a fully-fledged fascist dictatorship. It has hidden itself to most people this far, but it is about to lift the veil.

It is no longer an option to do nothing or passively acquiesce to authority out of fear or apathy. Or, at least, it’s not if we care about our freedoms and, most importantly, those of our children and grandchildren who will have to live almost their entire lives under a global jackboot of sheer, undiluted evil.

Plenty of (Harvey) Milk for Fruit Loops

rear_window_blog1July 25, 2009 – I hear and read the phrase “homosexual rights” daily on television, radio and in print. Homosexuals believe they are discriminated against individually and as a group. Thus, they are very aggressively demanding their “rights.” This creates the question: What “rights” that everyone else has are denied to homosexuals that results in discrimination?

In the United States, our rights are listed in the Bill of Rights. Do homosexuals have and enjoy all of these rights, such as: right to worship, freedom of speech, right to assemble, freedom from excessive bail, to bear arms, due process, right to vote, to hold public office, to own property, to travel, etc.? Yes, on all basic legal rights provided to all Americans.
