Mr. President, Lady Justice wears a blindfold for a reason.
She is not to know of strife. She is not to know of circumstance. She is not to know of wealth or poverty, strength or weakness, education or illiteracy, gifted oratory or bumbling foolishness.
Obviously, Mr. President, you know not the role of the judiciary.
When the U.S. sneezes, Mexico catches a cold so goes the old saying that is ironically being turned on its head as all eyes look south, afraid that the U.S. may be infected by what appears to be Mexican swine flu. But while public health and government officials on both sides of the border battle the outbreak, a virus of another sort is spreading across the Internet as anti-immigration groups use the imminent flu pandemic as an argument for closing the U.S.-Mexico border.
“Americans want our borders secured now more than ever,” declared William Gheen, head of Americans for Legal Immigration. The North Carolina–based group is calling on the Obama Administration to shut down the southern border.
When the new administration took over Washington and our smiling, community activist, leader took the oath of office, the chuckles began as we witnessed the most expensive inauguration in US history and the start of the transformation of America. I giggled – initially. This idol-worshipped man with absolutely no background or experience became our new President. I laughed at how America had been taken for a ride.
When the President embarrassed America with his lame gift to the British Prime Minister, it was so sad it was funny. I giggled under my breath.
May 6, 2009 – The voter rolls are swelled up, due to the record-setting election season of 2008. Now, you too may be called upon to “serve” your country on a jury within the court systems of America. Whether it be for murder or fraud – this is one man’s response. What you are about to view will be offensive to some, understandable to others.
A legacy is defined as, “something from past: something that is handed down or remains from a previous generation or time.” There are all kinds of legacies. Some, like a family name, are associated with wealth, power, or political position. Such is the case when you mention the names Kennedy and Rockefeller. On the other hand, mention the names Marcos, Stalin, or Hitler and you have get images of the abuse of power and the infringement of rights and liberties.
Over the course of time a legacy might change. For instance, a family born into poverty, might through the industriousness of one, lead to a lifestyle of wealth and privilege. Such is the case of many of the self-made millionaires who worked hard, and worked their way from poverty to become leaders of industry or finance.
