Liar, Liar! Pants on Fire: The 90%’rs

breech_thumb_newApril 21, 2009 - Don’t Take Your Guns To Town? How? They are all in Mexico – according to ‘The Usurper” from Kenya. Must be those nasty gun shows, held all over the nation, where all the drug lords are picking up old Mini-14′s and such. Why would they bother? They can pick up grenades down South of the Border for a buck! Of coarse, they can always politely knock on my front door, and I’ll be glad to give them a lead shower…

Big Brother’s Gun Lies: The “liar, liar pants on fire” argument usually isn’t the most effective. But when it comes to guns, President Obama is lying through his teeth… It is ridiculous for Mr. Obama to blame Mexico’s lawlessness on Americans as if the longstanding corruption of Mexican elected officials, judges and law-enforcement officers has nothing to do with it. One of the root causes of corruption is low pay. Mexican police earn $460 a month, sometimes less, which makes bribes hard to resist. There are about 350,000 policemen in Mexico. The $400 million Mr. Obama has promised for his anti-gun program could raise the annual salary of every Mexican cop by $1,143, a 21 percent increase. But the president wouldn’t be interested in that because his real agenda is to pursue gun control here at home. (READ MORE)

Mexican Drug Gangs Seek, Obtain Bigger Guns: An escalating arms race among Mexico’s drug cartels casts doubt on whether Mexico or the U.S. can stop the flow of weaponry, despite renewed vows last week from presidents of both countries. Stockpiles captured by Mexican soldiers show that warring traffickers are now obtaining military-grade weaponry such as grenades, launchers, machine guns, mortars and anti-tank rockets. Some drug gangs have even sought explosive material that some experts worry could be used in car bombs and improvised explosive devices of the kind used in Iraq and Afghanistan. Soldiers found 14 sticks of TNT among an arsenal of hundreds of rifles and grenades seized in November from a house in Reynosa, across the border from McAllen, Texas… Even as the governments try to choke off the U.S. weapons supply, the gangs are clearly trying to expand their arsenals beyond the assault rifles and semi-automatics they can get in the United States… (READ MORE)

More on the 90% Lie: Reporting on President Obama’s visit to Mexico, the Washington Post parrots both governments’ line that 90% of guns confiscated from the drug lords originate in the U.S. They’re all shooting blanks… Do the math and you find that only 17% of the guns confiscated were actually traced to the U.S. So why are so few guns sent here for tracing? Because, as Matt Allen, a special agent with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, points out, weapons known not to be of American origin are not sent to the U.S. for tracing. Duh… Many weapons have been legitimately shipped to Mexico from the U.S. as part of our effort to assist the Mexican military and police in the drug war. About 150,000 Mexican soldiers have deserted in the past six years, taking their weapons with them. A report in the London Daily Mail notes that many drug gangs employ ex-special forces soldiers recruited from the Mexican military. They are supported by corrupt police, with as many as 20% local law enforcement officers believed to be in the pay of drug gangs… (READ MORE)
