April 12, 2009 - I have gotten pretty used to driving around and seeing those patriotic stickers on the backs of people’s vehicles. Usually they’ll say something like, “Proud To Be An American”, or “Support Our Troops.” However, the other day I saw a combination of stickers that made me ask myself, “What the hell?”

This particular vehicle had one sticker that said “Patriotic American” right next to an Obama for President bumper sticker. I would have liked to ask that person how they could call themselves a patriotic American, yet still support Obama. To say that those two stickers, side by side, were an oxymoron is probably the understatement of the year. While Obama may have struck a chord with those who voted for him, he certainly rubbed me the wrong way with all his talk of change. Maybe it is because his vision of change is diametrically opposite of the views which was held by our founders.

Repeatedly I have tried to get across the point that our Constitution is binding upon our government in its entirety, otherwise it is not binding at all, and therefore our governments actions are irrelevant and non-binding as well.

Maybe the following, taken from an article I found on LewRockwell.com will help explain my views. In the article the writer states, “The constitution is open to interpretation.” I love this one. I’m going to employ the transitive law of logic here: If A then B. If B then C. Hence, If A then C.
Here’s A:
If the constitution is open to interpretation then of course, as we’ve seen, every administration will interpret it to their advantage.

Here’s B:
If every administration interprets the constitution differently then that means that it has many meanings.

Here’s C:
If the constitution has many meanings, then it is by definition, meaningless.
Our founding fathers based our entire government, our economic system, our monetary system, our national defense, our justice system, our civil rights on this document. It’s obvious they did not intend for it to be meaningless hence it is not open to interpretation.

Our Constitution is not meaningless, it is the document that breathed life into our current system of government. To tinker with it, or to ignore it completely, leaves us vulnerable to all types of misinterpretations and abuses of power by said government.

Obama is not alone in his disregard for the principles contained within that document, but seeing as how he has been in office such a short period of time, he is well on his way to having done, quite possibly, irreparable damage to this nation.

The people of this country need to do a much better job of staying informed as to the activities of their government, particularly this president. Turning on the television and watching a 30-minute news broadcast just doesn’t cut it. Not only is the media biased, but they do not give you all the information.

Imagine someone breaks into your house and rapes and kills your child. This person leaves behind an abundance of evidence and is quickly caught. The date of their trial arrives and the prosecuting attorney stands up and says, “Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, that man, the defendant was in the area on the date of this grizzly crime. I rest my case.” Then the attorney sits down.

In his presentation he ignores the fingerprints left at the crime scene, the DNA found, both at the crime scene, and on his person that directly ties him to the scene, or the fact that the murder weapon was found in his car. They simply say he was in the neighborhood on the day of the crime.

Folks that prosecuting attorney is the network media. They tell us that our Congress is in session, but they refuse to explore the contents of the legislation they are passing. Their silence makes them complicit in any, and all crimes, committed by those whom we elect to uphold the Constitution.

Yet the people steadfastly hold on to the lie that the news media is reporting the truth, all of it. This is where I find the hypocrisy of the American people disturbing. They will go onto the internet and use Google to find all kinds of information. They will take for granted that the hosts of these webpages are telling them the absolute truth, yet when someone tells them that they found a news story on the internet, one which speaks badly about the actions of their president, it is dismissed as some internet conspiracy theory because they didn’t see it on NBC or FOX News.

For instance, the news media all reported on Barack Obama’s recent trip to attend the G20 meeting in London. Just as the prosecuting attorney, the news reported that Obama was at the scene, but they refused to report on the crime.

World Net Daily reported the crime, as did former Clinton advisor, Dick Morris. According to reports, while in London, Obama agreed to a document which states, “We have agreed that the Financial Stability Forum should be expanded, given a broadened mandate to promote financial stability, and re-established with a stronger institutional basis and enhanced capacity as the Financial Stability Board (FSB).”

This FSB now has the authority to examine U.S. corporations to determine operations and determine the risks to the global economy. This new Board would then have the authority to set policies within these companies.

According to Morris, Obama is a “willing accomplice” and has all but repealed the Declaration of Independence of the United States. This agreement allows a group of foreign nations to dictate internal U.S. economic policy.

I don’t know, but it seems like the people of this country do not understand the concept of sovereignty. According to the dictionary, one of the definitions for sovereignty is, self-governing and not ruled by any other state.

So, what effectively has happened, is that President Barack Obama has signed away U.S. sovereignty. Where the hell does he get that authority? Not in the Constitution, that’s for sure. Yet you didn’t hear about it on the news, did you? Yet you can read all about it here.

Our elected officials are not the only ones whose actions are bound by certain rules. According to the Society of Professional Journalists, “Members of the Society of Professional Journalists believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. The duty of the journalist is to further those ends by seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues. Conscientious journalists from all media and specialties strive to serve the public with thoroughness and honesty.” Looks like our elected officials aren’t the only ones who aren’t living up to their duties and responsibilities, doesn’t it?

Obama just doesn’t seem to get it, what it means to be an American. He already has proven that he cares little for our sovereign status as a nation. However, being an American means much more than the country in which you were born. There is a certain code of ethics for this country, and ours were based upon the principles contained in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The same Patrick Henry who cried out, “Give me liberty, or give me death” also said, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.”

If Obama understood this, why would he stand before the people of Turkey and proclaim, “[O]ne of the great strengths of the United States is — although as I mentioned, we have a very large Christian population — we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation; we consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.”

Barack Obama has been in office for less than one hundred days, yet he is well on path to bring this nation down. Some people don’t see it that way, some do. For those who doubt me, there was an interesting statement made by Edgar Steele in his recent article, Christians? In America? In it, he said, “I like to say that foretelling the future is easy. If you want to know where you are going, just turn around and look at where you are coming from, then turn around again and project that line forward. History is the greatest teacher, especially very recent history. If you think things have gotten weird, you ain’t seen nothing yet.”

For those of you not capable of cognitive thought, that means that if you draw a line from point A, to point B, then continue that line off into infinity, you will see where it ends up. The line for America is off in the distance, and the point it stops at doesn’t look good for you and me.

A country is more than just the people that live within it, their economy, or even their language. It is all these, but it is more. It is the core values, the principles upon which it was founded. If we give up those principles, then we are no longer the same country. We will have evolved into something else.

Whatever we evolve into, we need to stop fooling ourselves, we no longer are a republic, as Ben Franklin proclaimed upon leaving the Constitutional Convention. And for those schizophrenics who drive around saying they are patriotic Americans, and that they support Obama, you need to find out which identity belongs to you. Because if you were a true American, Barack Obama would scare the living hell out of you.

Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders and says “OH SHIT!!…. HE’S AWAKE!!”
