March 17, 2009 - The chairman of a Senate committee said he decided to kill a bill that would crack down on Idaho employers who employ illegal immigrants because its sponsors had failed to gain any support from industry groups.
“I like to see bills that come through that have some kind of consensus,” said Sen. Curt McKenzie, R-Nampa, chairman of the Senate State Affairs Committee. “If the parties can come together and reach some kind of mutually agreeable resolution to the issue, that’s much better than the Legislature trying to force down some pretty heavy-handed penalties on an industry against its will.”
March 17, 2009 – In a book we wrote a number of years ago entitled “Our Cosmic Connection“, we opened one of the chapters with the following observation: “In spite of all of our individual and collective faults, there is a ‘great good’ that exists in a very large number of us. That good is personified in a wide range of human traits and behavior including private and public achievements, bravery, courage, sacrifice, industry, creativity, empathy, generosity, spontaneous volunteerism and spirit, either as individuals, or as a society. Unfortunately, due to the ‘distorted window’ through which we view our information, that ‘great good’ in us seems to be eclipsed by an over-zealous emphasis on that which appears to be ‘bad’ within us.”
March 16, 2009 – The following three entries were submitted to the Federal Observer, days apart. Each by themselves, was of passing interest – BUT – collectively, they began to make me wonder, “What the hell are they up to now???” Hmmmmmm – the Government is broke! The daily headlines read just like 1929 though 1933, and we’re printing our way into obscurity…. What’s next? [Ed.]
Consistent with a deep distrust of what my government says and does, what do you make of this? Of course, it’s lacking transparency for the rest of us, but what is the underlying intention of Frank’s enforcers?
March 16, 2009 - Every day American Citizens are bombarded with news of actions (and inactions) by Congress that are counter to everything that we elected and expected them to do. Both House and Senate members persist in making decisions, or not making decisions, that are outrageous and show a complete lack of common sense. Recent actions substantiate that a majority of the United States Congress has lost its way and is unable to effectively serve the people it is supposed to represent.
A prime example of what I am talking about is the recent decision to “table” the E-Verify Amendment (S.AMDT.604 to H.R. 1105) put forth by Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) which would have extended the pilot program for employment eligibility confirmation established in title IV of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1966 for 6 years.
March 16, 2009 - I doubt that most Americans have a clue what the leading Green organizations like Friends of the Earth and the Sierra Club have as their agenda for 2009. They have already made it known their members, so I will share it with you.
There are literally dozens of these groups in the United States and each has their own particular focus of attention, but the largest among them play well together in the giant sandbox of Green utopian fantasies. That’s why both FOE and Sierra Club announced they are looking forward to “a clean slate” from the Obama administration.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to realize that there is a plot to destroy America, and it has been going on covertly for years.
The Ides of March – Are we like deer in the headlights? Are we rats in a cage? Are we boxed in a corner with no escape? Are we Lemmings being driven over the proverbial cliff by a bunch of hounds? Are we trapped in a dead-end tunnel with wolves at our heels, being driven back into the deadly trap of slavery or worse, oblivion? Or, are we nothing but sheep and cattle to be herded, roped, and branded by government “wranglers” and then fattened up for market?
How many lies and propaganda will we absorb before we shine the brilliant light of freedom and truth on the evil doers who would enslave us? How many articles do we have to read about government’s attempt to destroy our Republic, before we say not “NO”, but “HELL NO“?
March 14, 2009 – Recently, the Massachusetts Department of Revenue issued its “10 Most Wanted” for fathers delinquent in child support arrears who cannot be found. How can a man end up in such a situation?
In the 19th century, not only was divorce so socially stigmatizing that few wanted it, those very few who were sued for divorce had two valuable protections: (1) you had to demonstrate extreme abuse or adultery (for which you were not equally culpable) and (2) you had to convince a jury of this fact. It was believed that marriage constituted a sacred contract, and that the government dissolution of that contract should only be for extreme cause. This was thought morally necessary because the losing party might suffer loss of custody of the child and have the duty to support the other spouse; the idea of imposing financial awards or awarding custody to the spouse at fault was considered immoral.
March 14, 2009 – Like others promoting constitutional amendments, Senator Russ Feingold, Democrat, Wisconsin, apparently is unaware of the refusal by Congress to obey Article V of the Constitution. He has a fine idea: every senator must actually be elected rather than appointed to that position. In 1913 the 17th amendment created the potential for governors to make appointments to fill Senate seats until the next regular scheduled general election and 38 states allow this; there have been 185 such appointments. Feingold is right to condemn “decisions being made solely by the powerful, without the consent, or even the input, of the people.”
Congress is unlikely to propose the desired new amendment, however. All of the existing constitutional amendments were proposed by Congress. But many worthwhile ones have never been proposed and sent to the states for ratification. There is an alternative. Article V provides a convention route for proposing amendments. Interest in amendments has triggered over 700 applications from state legislatures to Congress for a convention of state delegates that could propose constitutional amendments. However an amendment is proposed, it still must be ratified by three fourths of the states and the constitutional limitations on Congress limiting it to propose amendments to our present constitution equally apply to a convention.
