My Line In The Sand
March 24, 2009 – Pop singer John Cougar Mellancamp once sang, “You’ve got to stand for something, or you’re gonna fall for anything.” I guess that must be true, else how else can one account for the fact that someone actually believes the following statement taken from a Pro Obama image I found on the internet?
“I would rather have a President who wraps himself in the Constitution and allows the burning of the Flag than one who wraps himself in the Flag and allows the burning of the Constitution.”
We, as a nation, have done just a bang up job of educating our children in regards to our nations history, its culture, and the principles upon which our government was founded.
It pleases me to no end to see that nobody understands the Constitution, nor do they care to do so. If they did, they would find that statement absolutely ludicrous. So far, Barack Obama, and he is not the only one who I can apply this to, this, has proven that he has no regards for the limitations upon which the Constitution places upon the office he has taken possession of.
What is so sad about it all is that the whole thing is just hunky dory with far too many people in this country. Screw that! It is not alright with some people, and I am among those who Barack Obama, and my government in general, to be worthy of my utmost contempt.
People in this country, and that includes those we elect to represent us, often quote, or make reference to the Constitution in regards to the actions taken by our government. If they only knew how ignorant they sound!
People have been brainwashed into this politically correct little cocoon that tells them that government will make everything all right¾ if you just give them a few of your rights an liberty. Bullshit, they aren’t taking anything from me without a fight!
I am sick and damn tired of this whole politically correct nonsense. George MacDonald once said that the two pillars of political correctness are: willful ignorance, and a steadfast refusal to face the truth. For far too long people have been taught such rubbish as tolerance and multiculturalism. What utter nonsense, when our schools should have been teaching them a firm sense of loyalty to our country, and the principles upon which it was founded.
Multiculturalism, what a load of horse manure! I am of the same mindset as Theodore Roosevelt, when in Sept. 1917, he wrote, in the Children of the Crucible, “From the melting pot of life in this free land all men and woman of all nations who come hither emerge as Americans and nothing else. They must have renounced completely and without reserve all allegiance to the land from which they or their forefathers came. … If he does not act, he is false to the teaching and lives of Washington and Lincoln; he is not entitled to any part or lot in our country and he should be sent out of it.”
Boy Neal, you’re awful mean spirited, aren’t you? Damn straight I am, and proud of it. I am an America, not a Irish-American, a Scottish-American, or a Swiss-American, (all of which I could claim if I chose to.)
Doesn’t anyone recall the Pledge of Allegiance that they took in school, or were the words merely something your memorized, while ignoring their meaning? On September 8, 1892 the Pledge made it’s first appearance in a Boston Youth magazine. Since then, it has undergone a few changes, but the meaning has stayed constant. It currently states, “I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all.”
Notice it says allegiance to the republic. Allegiance means remaining faithful and loyal. Notice also that it says republic, not democracy. Therefore, the Pledge would mean to remain faithful and loyal to the principles upon which our republic was built.
Our government today, and at an accelerated pace under Barack Obama, is on a course that put those principles so far in our rear view mirrors that they may just disappear forever. And this is just hunky dory with America? Well, not with this American it isn’t!
The ignorance of the people of this country is to blame for our government assuming powers which the Constitution does not authorize them to assume. If our schools had done their jobs properly, people would know that there was a fierce debate over the Constitution, under the pretext that it left the door open to assume powers not authorized.
It was during this debate that the idea of a Bill of Rights was introduced. During those proceedings, the state of Virginia submitted the following, which was their proposal for what would become the tenth amendment, “That each state in the Union shall respectively retain every power, jurisdiction and right, which is not by this constitution delegated to the congress of the United States, or to the departments of the federal government.”
Read that again, because the principle contained in that statement, although more clearly stated, is the same as what we now have in the tenth amendment, which states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”
That is why it is so imperative that people know what the Constitution says, especially Article 1, Section 8, and Article 2, Section 2 & 3 says. That is of course, if you can find the time to interrupt your schedule to educate yourselves just a little.
These people we elect to office, they mean nothing to me as people. If I were to encounter one of them walking down the street, I would barely pay them any attention, unless of course I was given the opportunity to ask them where in the Constitution do they find the power to do what they do.
These people are just like me, they put their pants on the same way as I do and they breath the same air I do. God created us equal, and I don’t see any reason to put them on a pedestal, especially the way some have put Obama upon one.
However they do hold office for a reason, to represent the people of this country, and they have been doing a piss poor job of it! My beef with them, and with anyone who supports them, is that they are violating the Constitution, and in so doing, DEPRIVING ME OF MY UNALIENABLE RIGHTS! I don’t take kindly to that at all. In fact, I am willing to fight for them. I just hope that those who want to take them from me can say the same, because I am not going to let them take any more from me. So, as Michael Buffer, the famous ring announcer for HBO boxing used to say, “Let’s get ready to ruuuuuuumble!”
“Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?“

Good article. But FYI, it was Country singer Aaron Tippin who penned the line “You’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.
Thank You for another excellent article~~
I do think there are millions of frustrated true Americans who feel as you do.
However many of them have reached their ‘Golden years” and do not have the eloquence that you are gifted with…I happen to be one of them, and a woman besides.
Wow 2 strikes against me? I have kept up with the goings on of MY country and have seen the slow deterioration (Which I am sure was planned many yeara ago. When ever I have had the chance I have spoken out about the underlying deceipt going on and was rediculed for even thinking such thoughts!!
We have been taken over from within just like Mr Kruschev predicted. He was not the only onew to have warned us. IT is a shame of monumental proportions and i am left with the only hope left and that is “PRAYER”.===.God bless AMERICA,
