Where Is Your Head America?

mini_madMarch 18, 2009The question I find myself confronting, on a daily basis, is this; Am I to sit idly by and allow my rights to be wrested from me by puppets who masquerade as public servants? I can hear my conscience nagging at me, telling me that what is going on in this country is both wrong, and will ultimately lead to our downfall.

Then on the other hand, I feel the burden of fighting overwhelming odds. Those whose goal is the downfall of this nation have done a commendable job of ensuring that the people of this country remain ignorant of their intent.

Although they are divided equally along party lines, the majority of my countrymen are under the belief that their government still serves them. For the life of me, I find it incomprehensible how people would stand in support a government that has proven time, and time again, that they are on intent upon stripping them of their rights.

As I go about my daily affairs, I often sit and observe people. I often wonder, how many of them have the slightest inkling of what is really going on in this country. When I happen to overhear their conversations my worst fears are confirmed, nobody has any idea of the peril this country faces.

On the off chance that a political discussion does take place, what I end up hearing is propaganda that has been spewed out by the political parties, or the whores in the news media who have sold their integrity to satisfy their masters.

That anyone would believe the news media is impartial, and unbiased is laughable at best. They are mere prostitutes that repeat what they have been told. In testimony before Congress, taken directly from the Congressional Record, 9 February, 1917, Page 2947 & 2948, we read, “In March, 1915, the J.P. Morgan interests, the steel, shipbuilding, and powder interests, and their subsidiary organizations, got together 12 men high up in the newspaper world and employed them to select the most influential newspapers in the United States and sufficient number of them to control generally the policy of the daily press of the United States.

These 12 men worked the problem out by selecting 170 newspapers, and then began, by an elimination process, to retain only those necessary for the purpose of controlling the general policy of the daily press throughout the country. They found it was only necessary to purchase the control of 25 of the greatest newspapers. The 25 papers were agreed upon; emissaries were sent to purchase the policy, national and international, of these papers; an agreement was reached; the policy of the papers was bought, to be paid for by the month; an editor was furnished for each paper to properly supervise and edit information regarding the questions of preparedness, militarism, financial policies, and other things of national and international nature considered vital to the interest of the purchasers.”

Our government has been taken over, and now takes it’s orders from a small group of wealthy men who wield enormous power and influence. I know that behind my back I am laughed at and, quite possibly ridiculed, for my beliefs, but I care not what others say. I have spent hours researching, double, and triple checking the information I find, and my viewpoint is based upon fact.

I feel as though I am trapped in a car, heading for a cliff, and my fellow passengers are too busy arguing about what cd to play to notice the impending danger.

However, as Edward Abbey once said, “A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.” Even though my opinions may bring me scorn and ridicule, it is not within me to back down because I upset peoples sense of security because of them.

As I reflect upon our nations current situation, I can’t help but remember the words of Thomas Paine, from his pamphlet Common Sense, “Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamities is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer!”

It is clear to me, that government has become an intolerable evil, one that must be confronted before it is too late, if it is not too late already.

With his charisma and promise of change, Barack Obama has convinced the people of this country that he is going to be different, that he will, once again, represent the people. Bullshit!

Frank Dane once said, “Get all the fools on your side and you can be elected to anything.” The people of this country fell, hook, line, and sinker for Barack Obama, ignoring all the facts regarding his voting record, his stance on the issues, and even his citizenship.

I got into an argument the other day at work about who was at fault for the housing crisis. This person would not accept the evidence I provided to prove that, as much as I hate George W. Bush, the housing crisis was not his fault.

This person refused to accept the truth, and was steadfast in her belief that Barack Obama holds some sort of magical powers that will make everything well with America again. I have found that this viewpoint is not isolated, it is widely believed that Obama is going to cure America of all that ails it. All I have to say about that is to quote Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, “There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.”

My concern is not whether we have a Democrat, a Republican, an African-American, a Chinese-American, or anyone else sitting in the Oval Office. My concern lies with the safeguarding of my liberty. As Patrick Henry once said, “Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel.”

Our liberty and our individual rights have been under assault for years, and I only see it getting worse unless something is done to stop it. Americans have fallen in behind Obama, just as they did behind Bush after the attacks of September 11. Those who speak out against what we perceive as threats to our liberty are called unpatriotic. George Washington once said, “Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.” I say, keep your mouth shut unless you know what the hell you’re talking about.

Those who have placed Obama upon a pedestal should consider the following, taken from Thomas Paine’s Common Sense, “As the exalting one man so greatly above the rest cannot be justified on the equal rights of nature, so neither can it be defended on the authority of scripture; for the will of the Almighty, as declared by Gideon and the prophet Samuel, expressly disapproves of government by kings.”

We, who continually speak out against Obama are told to get over it, and fall into line behind him. I refuse to do so. It is my right to speak out against any, and all, threats I see to my rights and my liberty. Otherwise, as George Washington said, “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”

I have enough personal integrity to stand up to all criticism I may get for my views. I know they are based upon facts, not some irrational emotional reaction to the Obama phenomenon.

As Walter Lippman once said, “He has honor if he holds himself to an ideal of conduct though it is inconvenient, unprofitable, or dangerous to do so.”

Our nation faces a serious crisis, of that no one will deny. However, not everyone can agree as to from whence the crisis originates. It is my opinion that our government has been corrupted by a cancer, a cancer brought to bear upon it by powerful outside influences who seek total dominion over this country.

If you will recall, I previously quoted from Edward Abbey, “A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.” My concern is are there enough true patriots left in this country to save it? As Thomas Paine said in his pamphlet, The Crisis, “THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”

This is what weighs upon me. It is why I often am asked why I look so sad and depressed. Often I just shrug my shoulders in response and go about my job. What I feel like saying is that the American people are what is wrong with this country.

Our government has created all these problems, but we are the ones who voted for them. We are the ones who chose to stay uninformed while we repeatedly voted for them. It is through our ignorance that we have brought this misery upon ourselves.

I try to tell people this. Some people get it, others don’t. Others refuse to listen to reason, choosing to stubbornly cling to their beliefs. I suppose I should take solace in what Euripides said in his play, The Bacchae, “Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish.” Unfortunately, it does little to console me.

So long as people keep their heads up their backsides and refuse to examine the facts, I will continue to fear greatly for the future of this country. Whether or not this country can be saved is yet to be determined. However, if it means I piss off everyone I know, I will go to my grave proclaiming the truth. At least my conscience will be clear. Will yours?

    What an excellent article you have written. There is nothing left for me to add.
    I do know what the quote you gave from Euripides feels like, for I have tried my best to share articles and newspaper clippings. to any group I was with at the time.
    RV’ing groups basically, and they would laugh and say “Where did you get this crap”

    There was absolutely no way they felt their country could do anything that I was showing them by sharing articles..”those with eyes too blind to see are the problem.” They have taken their freedoms for granted while their own children were fighting undeclared wars!!
    IN foreign countries who could care less about their loved ones. This is so sad!

    And for those who haven’t taken the time to read your great article…I say for shame on them, they missed the Advice Euripides gave,,,,Talk sense to a fool, and he calls you foolish. I know this first hand. MY thanks for your submission.. Fizzo
