February 16, 2009 - Barack Obama’s bubble has been burst. Over the past three weeks, he has learned a primal conservative lesson, one on which all else is based. As put by the noted political philosopher Clint Eastwood: “A man’s got to know his limitations.” O now has a vague glimmering as to what his limitations are. His followers, as yet, do not.
All of us live in bubbles of one size or another. Bubbles that encompass what we know, what we have experienced, our prejudices, our illusions, and our manner of thinking. It would be strange if it were any other way – as was once written, “Humankind cannot stand too much reality”.
February 15, 2009 – “I’ve been through Y2K and I’ve been through 9/11. I have never seen people so afraid as what we are seeing right now,” said gun shop owner Scott Moss recently. With more guns per capita – easily 250 million privately owned ones – and certainly more people in prisons than any other democracy, the intriguing question in this still worsening economic calamity is: If Americans found the courage for political rebellion now, would it preempt massive criminal violence, social havoc and armed rebellion later?
What we see President Obama and Congress doing and debating seem inadequate to restore financial health and security to the vast majority of Americans before millions more lives are devastated. Billions of tax dollars have gone to banks, corporations and others but have not stopped the hemorrhage of our financial lifeblood. More than half a million jobs continue to be lost a month; 3.5 million in the past year. Millions are losing their homes, health insurance and ability to buy food. Those with jobs are afraid to spend money.
February 14, 2009 – The following was sent to each and every Senator in the United States Senate on this day.
To all the guilty parties concerned, Happy Valentines Day – we’ve been massacred. CON-gress took a good lesson from Al Capone, and he has been in the grave for decades, so you can’t blame this one on him!
Although not surprised at the outcome of the events, which have taken place in both houses of CON-gress over the past several weeks, frankly – I am shocked, at the cavalier manner, in which this package has been crammed down the throats of generations of Americans to come.
Do you honestly believe that any of this will be of benefit to the average American? Think again!
February 14, 2009 – I have overheard many conversations lately about our faltering economy and what should be done about it. Many people who were upset when our government bailed out financial institutions such as AIG, are now happy that our government is working to pass some sort of economic stimulus package. It seems that when our governments unconstitutional acts benefit us, people are all for it.
Just the other day I was listening in on a conversation on this very subject. One person stated, “It’s good that Obama is doing something. That is more than can be said about what Bush did.”
I couldn’t leave that comment alone, so I chimed in with, “If your house were to catch fire, and I showed up and began spraying gasoline on it, I would be doing something, but it wouldn’t be helping matters any, would it? Obama’s plan is not going to do anything but prolong our suffering, or quite possibly make it even worse.”
February 13, 2009 – My unborn grandchildren will in all likelihood look back upon the passage of this so-called stimulus bill as the tipping point when capitalist America became the Plutocratic States of America. That sad moment when the mythological Shining City on a Hill became an economically spastic failed state, with the traditional lines separating bureaucrat from capitalist merged to become an unidentifiable mass of oligarchs.
There is no economic stimulation in this execrable plundering of the public weal. It is, actually, no more or less than what it appears to be: a gargantuan and shameless involuntary transfer of the private assets of John Q. Buttfucked to the sinister Machiavels who bestride the Rogue State, bit barely in its thrashing jaws.
February 13, 2009 – Africa has more natural resources than the United States. Yet its people wallow in poverty and a horrible existence, not because the land doesn’t provide for them, but because of bad governments.
Case in point is Zimbabwe which, by all accounts, should be the richest of all African nations. It was once called the breadbasket of Africa because of its rich soil and prosperous farmers. Today, under the brutal, unending dictatorship of insane ruler Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe sits in ruins. As The Washington Times reported, “People are starving and compete in the countryside with baboons, jackals and goats for roots and wild fruits; health care has imploded and cholera is on the march as water and sewer systems collapse.”
February 13, 2009 – The House approved a $787 billion economic stimulus package Friday afternoon, with Democrats successfully promoting it as a boost for middle-class Americans and Republicans countering in vain that it will only stimulate wasteful government spending.
The vote was 246 to 183, reflecting the Democrats’ considerable majority in the House and the Republicans’ deep dissatisfaction with the measure, whose estimated price tag has fluctuated daily and was finally placed at $787 billion on Friday. Not a single Republican voted in favor of the bill.
February 12, 2009 – On this, the 200th anniversary of the birth of the emanci-effing-pator of the slaves – another installment of Obama and His Amazing Technicolor Trenchcoat!
President Obama clearly didn’t do his homework before ordering the suspension of military tribunals to try terrorist suspects. We have learned that even his own legal counsel admitted that Mr. Obama erred in discussing details about terrorism with families of victims last week, and that the administration was ignorant of a key point that terrorists exploit to their advantage. In his rush to fulfill a campaign promise to his more fervid anti-war supporters, the president’s legal oversights risk the disclosure of some highly classified information to terrorists.
The rumors of the death of the American spirit and freedom are decidedly premature and she will not go quietly into the night without first engaging in a ferocious battle to retain her liberty. It will take more than one man and a false ideology to put her in her grave. It will take much more than just robbing the treasury of our material wealth and spending us into oblivion to seal her fate. No matter what you see and hear, the real America, the heart of America, is alive and well and beginning to show her teeth, once again.
Sure, we are thrashing about and trying to get our bearings, but our bearings we will gain in time. Sure we have a false leader at the helm, but he too will flounder in heavy seas of his own making. Yes, some crazed inmates are running the show in congress and the President’s cabinet, but they will soon be hoisted upon their own petard. It’s going to cost us, but we are a wealthy nation beyond anyone’s imagination and as you will see, we can ultimately afford it.
