President And Congress Grovel Before The Fed

eye_on_america_newFebruary 10, 2009According to Bloomberg News (Monday, February 9, 2009), “The stimulus package the U.S. Congress is completing would raise the government’s commitment to solving the financial crisis to $9.7 trillion, enough to pay off more than 90 percent of the nation’s home mortgages.

“The Federal Reserve, Treasury Department and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation have lent or spent almost $3 trillion over the past two years and pledged up to $5.7 trillion more. The Senate is to vote this week on an economic-stimulus measure of at least $780 billion. It would need to be
reconciled with an $819 billion plan the House approved last month.

Girlymen – Soldiers of Subversion

biesada_thumb_newFebruary 8, 2009The Girlymen have seized our country and life in America, as we knew it, will never be the same. Congratulations Professor Gonorrhea, give yourself a pat on the back.

Ever since the Obama’s have moved to Washington D.C. along with the Chicago Crime Syndicate, the main stream media hasn’t unglued their lips off of President Obama’s ass.

Finally, last week, some media pundits, apparently suffering from a guilt ridden complex, have taken the initiative to un stick their lips and report the news about this candidate for “change,” and his administration filled with tax cheats.

Hollywood Comes to North Georgia

sunset_thumb_newFebruary 9, 2009Have you ever seen the movie I’d Climb the Highest Mountain?

This wonderful-classic movie was made during the 1950s, when families spent quality time at the movies where Coca Cola was a nickel, hot bettered popcorn a quarter and for a mere quarter you might see a double-feature film, cartoon and newsreel. Parents did not worry about the sexual, bad language or graphic scenes of the early films because most were family friendly.

Stupid Answers to Serious Issues

island_earth_thumbOn Jeopardy, the popular quiz show, they have a category called “Stupid Answers” in which the answer is so obvious, posed in the question, that it is virtually impossible to get it wrong.

Unfortunately, we are afflicted by too many stupid answers to very real issues and needs, the most fundamental of which is energy. At the very heart of our society and economy is the dependence upon and need for uninterrupted and increased energy, primarily electricity.

Baroud: Change the Lobby

israel_thumb_new_1February 9, 2009 -  One cannot emphasize enough the stranglehold Israel’s lobbying infrastructure has on US foreign policy. The events of recent weeks undoubtedly attest to this. “The special relationship” that has been historically fostered between the US and Israel in fact, is often a relationship of leverage, manipulation and intimidation, and often leads to the US supporting actions or resolutions that stand at complete odds with the interests of the American people.

The promise of change echoed the world over as people from all corners anticipated the magic moment Obama could actually change the devastating reality in which we live today.

A Few Thoughts On Liberty And Sovereignty

ross_neal_0808February 8, 2009In 1922, D. H. Lawrence wrote, “Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves.”

Most of America still is under the belief that we are a free and independent people, they couldn’t be more wrong. Their ignorance of how our system of government was designed to function, has allowed this fraud to be perpetrated upon the people by those who have been elected to safeguard our freedom and liberty. What makes it more sad is that the people, for the most part, are as apathetic as they are ignorant, they just don’t have the desire to learn the truth. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn.”

Ewart: The Emporor Has No Clothes!

postman_ewartFebruary 8, 2009 - The wise ones knew it.  Those that were observing with open eyes and reading between the lines, were predicting what would happen.  We were all cognizant of the treachery that lay behind the polished veneer and the orchestrated, contrived oratory.   We were aware of the backgrounds of his radical and corrupt associations and the influence these associations would have on his thought processes and decisions.  We questioned the validity of his natural birth and were deeply concerned about his total lack of executive experience.  This “candidate”, rising up out of the shadows of Chicago corruption, was being groomed for plenary power.

All throughout the presidential campaign the warning signs were there.

Matters in Hand

breech_thumb_newFebruary 8, 2009 - As we once again look forward to battles within the arena known as, “The Right to Keep and Bear Arms” – in other words, the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution, we once again look back in history to one of the finest writers to ever hold court in the “City that Works” – Mike Royko.

Royko passed on, April 29, 1997. I miss Mike and his wisdom – but his words still ring true…

Economic Fascism and The Bailout Economy

wealth_thumb_4February 6, 2009I have lived through three monumental historical events. I remember only two of them.

I do not remember the dropping of the two atomic bombs in August of 1945. As symbols of scientific world transformation, this constituted the most momentous event of the 20th century. This breakthrough, so far, has not led to nuclear war, even though on several occasions, it looked as though nuclear war was a distinct possibility. Nevertheless, the arrival of the nuclear age heralded a transformation of the modern world. We have not yet seen the end of that transformation.

Do Americans Cherish Freedom Anymore?

eye_on_america_newFebruary 6, 2009 - I am often guilty of using the term “freedom-loving Americans.” But I think the question now needs to be asked, Do Americans really cherish freedom anymore? I believe an argument could be made that not many do. In fact, I doubt that most Americans today remotely understand what freedom – as envisioned by our Founding Fathers – even is.

Freedom is more than not being in prison (although America incarcerates more people than any nation on earth). Freedom is more than driving a car, or taking a vacation, or being able to choose your place of residence, or attending a sporting event. People in totalitarian regimes have, for the most part, been able to do the equivalent of all that.

Living Within Our Means

ross_neal_0808February 5, 2009Just the other day, Oprah Winfrey aired a show where she offered suggestions for people to deal with the worsening economy. During the short time I happened to be in the room watching, Oprah must have said that America must again learn to live within its means about a dozen times. That is quite easy for Oprah to say, seeing as how Forbes lists her net worth at over $2.5 billion.

I don’t think Oprah has any of the day to day problems most Americans face when it comes to making ends meet. However, the net worth of Oprah is not the reason I am writing this commentary. My purpose for writing is her comment that America must again learn to live within its means.

What Can We Do?

point_blank_blogFebruary 5, 2009Many write to me and ask, WHAT CAN WE DO?   Others write telling me that if we are to succeed then I need to promote some group, or some book,  or tell WGEN readers to send money to (insert group).  Many tell me that we need to ‘organize together’ and do this or that.

How many of you would follow the instructions given to Joshua at Jericho?

Ewart: We Must Confront the Bully!

postman_ewartFebruary 5, 2009As a general rule, we aren’t prone to use biblical analogies or parables in our frequent articles and essays, although sometimes they can be useful because of everyone’s common knowledge of them ….. especially the story of David and Goliath.  We won’t go into the story except to say that Goliath, the bully, was terrorizing the common folk and had to be stopped.  The common folk had no other alternative but to confront the bully.

Bailouts: a Complete Fraud Against The American Worker

visas_blogFebruary 5, 2009A recent Associated Press news release exposed U.S. banks accepting billions in bailout money along with major corporations.  Banks defraud American taxpayers by hiring thousands of foreign workers in place of our citizens.

The report said, “The figures are significant because they show that the bailed-out banks, being kept afloat with U.S. taxpayer money, actively sought to hire foreign workers instead of American workers.

Is the Cold War Over?

guest_thumb_1February 5, 2009Those of us born in an earlier era recall the Cold War that lasted from shortly after the end of World War II until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. It was the era of Mutually Assured Destruction with massed nuclear missiles pointed at one another. It was an era when Americans were rightfully concerned about Soviet espionage inside the U.S. and Soviet expansionist ambitions throughout the world.

How to Kill a Palestinian

israel_thumb_new_1February 5, 2009Commenting on the latest Israeli one-directional onslaught against the Palestinians of Gaza Strip, the Israeli 10th TV channel has disclosed that the Israeli genocidal forces had used half of its air force and had launched at least 2500 air raids against Gaza Strip.

A Recession of Biblical Proportions

wealth_thumb_4February 2, 2009 - Consumers usually build savings in booms, then raid their troves during busts – but not this time.

Ever since Joseph decoded Pharaoh’s dream about fat cows and thin ones and delivered his policy response – save in the fat years to survive in the lean times – consumers have followed that model.

Game On de Peeps

biesada_thumb_newFebruary 1, 2009Ah … Super Bowl Sunday – America’s most sacrilegious holiday has finally arrived.

As our dumbed down society clusters around their TV sets like sheep to escape the realities of the up coming man made depression, arrogant sponsors have spent over $204 million dollars on commercials to pimp their products on the unemployed masses, spending their last few bucks on enjoying the game.

‘Burn it, Burn the Train!’

stewart_thumbFebruary 1, 2009 – During these past eight years or so, I have watched the unraveling of our once great Republic – signified by the words of our former President, George W. Bush, who is reported to have referenced the Constitution as, “just a goddamned piece of paper.

Well Mr. Bush, maybe it now is damned. It is because of the weakness of your leadership and policies, which has brought us the likes of ‘the One’ and the caliber of people, who have come to Washington with him – in addition to those who so numbly believe that this modern-day ‘Moses’ can deliver us from the bondage, which this nation has been has so blindly been sucked in to. This “unraveling” has been coming at us in the form of a runaway train – and I see not the light at the end of the tunnel.

‘Atlas Shrugged’: From Fiction to Fact in 52 Years

atlas_randFebruary 1, 2009 – Some years ago when I worked at the libertarian Cato Institute, we used to label any new hire who had not yet read Atlas Shrugged a “virgin.” Being conversant in Ayn Rand’s classic novel about the economic carnage caused by big government run amok was practically a job requirement. If only “Atlas” were required reading for every member of Congress and political appointee in the Obama administration. I’m confident that we’d get out of the current financial mess a lot faster.
