February 24, 2009 – When The New York Times publishes a story, as it did on February 19, regarding the next step in the Obama administration’s intention to destroy the U.S. economy, it’s a very good idea to pay attention.
“E.P.A. Expected to Regulate Carbon Dioxide” was the headline of John M. Broder’s article. “The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to act for the first time to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that scientists blame for the warming of the planet, according to top Obama administration officials.”
February 24, 2009 - You think you are a law abiding citizen, don’t you? Think again! You have been, you are now, and you will continue to break the law for the rest of your life, because there are too many laws, with millions more laws to follow. Many of these laws are totally unconstitutional but have never been challenged in the courts. Sometimes you break the law without any knowledge of it, even though ignorance of the law is not an excuse, if you are caught. But worse, millions are breaking the law because they are convinced the laws are illegal, or just plain stupid. With more people intentionally breaking the law, eventually the rule of law breaks down, as does our Republic.
The examples of stupid laws would fill volumes. Examples of conflicting laws would fill even more volumes. Some (or is it most) lawmakers just aren’t very smart.
February 24, 2009 - God’s children, of African, Asian, European, Hispanic, American Indian, and Jewish ancestry, were once told stories about the men and women who helped make America great. When I was a child, the heritage of our ancestors was very important to both young and old but, today, political correct thought has taken the place of historical truth and many schools, streets and parks, named for our beloved forefathers and mothers have been changed.
I write this article as the Sons of Confederate Veterans of Virginia, a Southern fraternal-historical group, is looking for a location to unveil a historically correct statue depicting Confederate President Jefferson Davis and two of his sons Joe and Jim Limber. Jim was a black child adopted by the Davis family and Joe was tragically killed by a fall in 1864 at the Confederate White House in Richmond, Virginia.
February 24, 2009 - My first reaction, when I saw the article, was of utter horror. It was entitled, “Obama Imposes Pay Cap on Executives.” Obama intends to dictate salary caps to American executives of private companies. We should all be very frightened of a government that seeks such power. It’s pure communism. The only result of such a situation can be that corporate executives and CEOs become mere employees with no incentives to build the business and increase profits. When that happens, there is no business.
Rooted in Greek mythology, the term “Pygmalion” was also the title of George Bernard Shaw’s classic comedy. In the musical rendition, My Fair Lady, the Henry Higgins character is a Pygmalion. He sensed Eliza Doolittle’s potential, and felt compelled to develop it to its fullest – then fell in love with the “new woman” he had helped create.
For me, this Pygmalion Complex applies to America’s raw potential – its raw, untapped natural resources. I feel they should be developed for the benefit of people and society, but always with great care for our scenic and environmental resources.
February 24, 2009 – Remember back in February 2008 when President Obama came to Boise and spoke at a big rally? He made a big point of saying, “I won’t take away your guns,” because those nasty, dishonest Republicans were saying that Obama was going to do that.
It sure didn’t take long for Obama to reveal his intentions. The afternoon of the inauguration, the White House Web site’s Urban Policy page admitted that he is indeed going to try and do exactly that. “Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.”
