Part I: Obama Isn’t Gonna Fix A Damn Thing

ross_neal_0808February 14, 2009I have overheard many conversations lately about our faltering economy and what should be done about it. Many people who were upset when our government bailed out financial institutions such as AIG, are now happy that our government is working to pass some sort of economic stimulus package. It seems that when our governments unconstitutional acts benefit us, people are all for it.

Just the other day I was listening in on a conversation on this very subject. One person stated, “It’s good that Obama is doing something. That is more than can be said about what Bush did.”

I couldn’t leave that comment alone, so I chimed in with, “If your house were to catch fire, and I showed up and began spraying gasoline on it, I would be doing something, but it wouldn’t be helping matters any, would it? Obama’s plan is not going to do anything but prolong our suffering, or quite possibly make it even worse.”

That drew some nasty glares, but I chalked it up to the fact that people just don’t understand the causes of our countries economic problems. Not only do very few understand what has caused our economy to falter, they assume that our elected representatives do, and that they will be able to fix whatever it is that is wrong.

Maybe our elected officials do know what is wrong, but by their actions, they certainly aren’t proving it. So, either they are clueless, or they are intentionally doing everything they can to ensure our economy crumbles.

This reminds me of what happened after September 11. Americans are demanding action, going off half cocked, pointing fingers indiscriminately, the whole time basing their opinions upon what they are told, by both the media, and their elected officials, without ever bothering to find out for themselves what the hell is wrong with our economy.

In his book, Take This Job And Ship It, Senator Byron Dorgan, (D. North Dakota) states, “We moan and pitch fits until veins in our forehead pop about ambulance-chasing, celebrity-fawning no-content news, and then we ignore substantive reporting to watch Survivor.

We can point fingers all day at corporate bogeymen and clueless politicians, but real change always needs strong roots. Until Americans start paying attention and asking questions, nothing will happen.”

Seeing as how I constantly bemoan the ignorance of the American people, I can empathize with Senator Dorgan. This economic crisis is just one more instance of people not having any clue as to the cause of our problem, then blindly expecting our government to fix it anyway.harvesting_of_cash

No one will disagree with me when I say that people are experiencing hard times, yet the blame is being laid everywhere except where it rightfully belongs.
The way I see it, their are two reasons Americans are suffering. First is because people are losing their jobs, and, secondly is due to the fact that the money they keep in their purse or wallet holds about the same value as a roll of toilet paper in their bathrooms.

I am not saying that there are not other associated factors that contribute to the mess we are in, but from my viewpoint those are the two main reasons. To explain that in simple terms, if you aren’t drawing a paycheck, you won’t have any money to buy things. If you are working, and the money you earn is worthless, it won’t buy as many things as it used to.

While the news reports on how the economic crisis is affecting other countries, and how we are all part of a global economy, the truth is that the members of our government were not elected to worry about how the economies of other countries. They were elected to represent us, and to do what is in the best interests of this country.

That may sound harsh, especially to many immigrants to this country whose countries of origin are facing severe economic problems. However, you chose to come here, to America, and you should be worried about how this crisis is affecting you, and the United States in general.

Many are looking to Obama to correct the problems created by 8 years under a Bush administration. The truth is that this economic crisis was years in the making. Both Democrats and Republicans hold the responsibility for it. To lay it all upon George Bush is wrong and shows how little you understand the true nature of the problem.

Former President Bush tried to convince us that the housing crisis had led to a freeze of the flow of credit, which caused our economy to stagnate. He said that for our economy to recover, we need to restore the flow of credit. Maybe some people bought that line of horse manure, but I didn’t.

Maybe I am naive, but the way I see it, if people have good jobs, they go out and buy things. So, as long as there is a steady demand for products and services people will continue to stay employed providing them, and our economy will remain stable. However, the opposite is also true. When people lose jobs, or work in jobs that don’t pay as well, they buy fewer goods and services. This causes the demand for them to go down even further, bringing about more layoffs. From that explanation, it should be clear that the solution to our problem is to create more jobs.

Obama claims his stimulus package will do that, create millions of jobs. However there are two things to consider. First, it is not the job of the government to create jobs, that is the job of the private sector. If it is the job of the government please show me where in the Constitution it says so, I must have missed that part. Secondly, even if this stimulus package does create jobs, they will not be the kind that fuels a steady recovery of our economy.

Allow me to explain why I say that the jobs created by Obama’s stimulus package will not cause our economy to recover.

Remember how I said that when people work they buy things, which, in turn, keeps other people working? Let’s say Obama’s plan does put millions of Americans to work building bridges, highways, and whatever else he says it will do. While millions of workers will now suddenly have income to spend, but it will not create more jobs for other Americans. When these workers go and spend there new found income, where are the goods they will go out and buy manufactured? Not in the USA.

Therefore these new workers will only be a temporary fix, as their jobs will only last as long as the infrastructure programs they are working on. Once those projects are finished, those jobs will disappear without having stimulated our economy.

That is why Obama’s plan will fail, no matter how much money he pumps into it. All his plan will do is borrow more money, increasing our national debt. Don’t forget all the pork barrel spending that will inevitably be included in this so-called economic recovery package.

The crux of the matter is that our economy is in the tank because, over time, the manufacturing jobs that fueled our nations rise to being an economic superpower, have slowly been shipped overseas, leaving American workers in service jobs, or in jobs paying lower wages, with fewer benefits.

Just consider this simple fact. In 1970, General Motors was the largest employer in the United States. People who worked there were secure in their jobs, they earned good money, (by 1970′s standards anyway), and they had the good benefits that go along with those jobs. Now consider this, Wal Mart is our nations largest employer. Most of their employees earn less than $20,000 per year, and have few, if any, benefits.

Now you tell me, what exactly is it that Wal Mart builds? GM built cars, and provided the kind of jobs that kept our economy humming. Wal Mart, on the other hand, buys things from companies that produce their items overseas. So when people buy at Wal Mart, they are not helping to create jobs in America, they are helping to keep someone employed in China, Taiwan, Mexico, Bangladesh, India, or any number of other countries where they buy their goods. It is not only Wal Mart. Go anywhere and look at the labels on the goods you buy.

The question then is, how has this happened, and why has our government allowed it to happen. The answer will be forthcoming in Part II of this series.

It appears that you just can’t fix stupid.

If I could apologize ahead of time and make just one more comment, which I believe is extremely relevant on shining the light on just the kind of traitors we have as representatives in this nation. This question is not just for the illegal alien amnesty loving Demcrats, but for the Republicans also.

Question: Why, in an economy that is crashing and burning, (please stop with the bailout B.S. Pelosi, and Reid, we are crashing) does the Democratic and Republican Party “STILL” allow massive “LEGAL IMMIGRATION” immigration into the U.S.? In the month of January, the Democratic and Republican parties, that claim to represent Americans, ALLOWED TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND IMMIGRANTS TO ENTER THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA–LEGALLY. LEGALLY IN “ONE” MONTH!!! How can any American believe that these two Parties have Americans best intrerests at heart, or want to fix unemployment. THE ARE NOTHING BUT CORRUPT, FILTHY LIARS, Mrs. Pelosi, Mr. Reid, and President Obama.

  2. Bobby says:

Famous last words: “THEY WERE ELECTED TO REPRESENT US”

It seems I’ve heard that phrase for at least the last 8 U.S. Presidential elections. Reagan gave the first amnesty. Carter allowed criminals from Cuba into the U.S., that Fidel released from his jails. Bush 1′s corruption needs no explaination. Clinton bullied Congress or “sweet talked”it, into accepting job destroying NAFTA, as Wall Street Criminals celebrated, Bush 2, another New World Order puppet, started a bogus war, that robbed Americans of a trillion dollars, all the while Republicans and Democrats just couldn’t find a way to allow every single American to have free medical care, as every other Western Nation does. AND OBAMA AND THE OPEN SOCIETY DEMOCRATS,(what a joke) another globalist puppet, is CONTINUING WITH ALL THE TOXIC POLICIES OF THOSE BEFORE HIM. Who is in charge in the United States, and do they have Americans best interests at heart? I think the answer by now should be clear to even the most politically challanged Americans.

GET the word out >> There is little time left Tell everyone you know and don’t stop with Your American friends..Send it to all your Foriegn friends as well.
The slow train is rolling faster every day..

Congrats to Jeffrey for awakening many,, NOW we must use his “SLOW TRAIN” and his warnings..and keep Reading The Federal Observer, tell everybody you know to read it to.. GOD BLESS AMERICA…OUR country only if we can keep it FREE..

    Slow Train

Sometimes I feel so low-down and disgusted
Can’t help but wonder what’s happenin’ to my companions,
Are they lost or are they found, have they counted the cost it’ll take to bring
    down
All their earthly principles they’re gonna have to abandon?
There’s a slow, slow train comin’ up around the bend.

I had a woman down in Alabama,
She was a backwoods girl, but she sure was realistic,
She said, “Boy, without a doubt, have to quit your mess and straighten out,
You could die down here, be just another accident statistic.”
There’s a slow, slow train comin’ up around the bend.

All that foreign oil controlling American soil,
Look around you, it’s just bound to make you embarrassed.
Sheiks walkin’ around like kings, wearing fancy jewels and nose rings,
Deciding America’s future from Amsterdam and to Paris
And there’s a slow, slow train comin’ up around the bend.

Man’s ego is inflated, his laws are outdated, they don’t apply no more,
You can’t rely no more to be standin’ around waitin’
In the home of the brave, Jefferson turnin’ over in his grave,
Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan
And there’s a slow, slow train comin’ up around the bend.

Big-time negotiators, false healers and woman haters,
Masters of the bluff and masters of the proposition
But the enemy I see wears a cloak of decency,
All non-believers and men stealers talkin’ in the name of religion
And there’s a slow, slow train comin’ up around the bend.

People starving and thirsting, grain elevators are bursting
Oh, you know it costs more to store the food than it do to give it.
They say lose your inhibitions, follow your own ambitions,
They talk about a life of brotherly love, show me someone who knows how to
live it. There’s a slow, slow train comin’ up around the bend.

Well, my baby went to Illinois with some bad-talkin’ boy she could destroy
A real suicide case, but there was nothin’ I could do to stop it,
I don’t care about economy, I don’t care about astronomy
But it sure do bother me to see my loved ones turning into puppets,
There’s a slow, slow train comin’ up around the bend.

I only have a 9th grade education. And even I can see what’s going on in this country. It makes me sick! The Federal Reserve is not even a “government” agency. What we call “money” is PHONY! And the Poll-ititions are criminals, crooks, and PERVERTS! “Lawyers are Liars and Judges are either paid off or just perverts too! A so called “government agency” DHS/CPS are stealing Children from Christian parents! HOLD ON! This is just plain WRONG! If the people in America think they are going to get away with this THEY ARE WRONG! No country in the history of the world has ever gotten away with this, and this country WON’T EITHER!!!

  6. Mike from Havasu says:

What really needs to happen is that the Federal Reserve Act needs to thrown out, and the Federal Reserve nationalized! We should also get back on the gold standard while were at it. These crooks are the root cause of our problems, and in fact created the last great depression. When the government borrows money, it borrows from the Federal Reserve (FED). The FED then calls the US Treasury, and the money printed, and only pay for printing costs, then FED then loans the government the money! The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 is the biggest con in history, and needs to be stopped!

  7. duh says:

Hay, has anybody had some of that New Soup??? Cream of Crap yum!!!!

  8. duh says:

Gosh, I thought this Obomation guy was going to pay my mortgage off and give me a bunch of “money”! Gee, I must be dumb, duh

  9. Kell says:

Yes! This is just what I’ve been thinking since the late 1970′s when the corporate march to foreign shores began in earnest. It’s very elemental; if Joe doesn’t have a job, or has a very low paying job, Joe can’t buy stuff. If Joe can’t buy stuff, the makers of stuff either go out of business or are forced to retool on foreign shores to cut costs and sell globally. After a while, they will go under as volume sales in a globally distressed world are poor. The old thinking was that the money saved by off-shoring could be reinvested and that would more than be profitable. Someone should have seen this train wreck coming years ago. The moral is you can’t rob Joe without, eventually, lying on a slab with a ticket on your toe.

  10. On No! says:

Oh NO, are you saying that Obama is not going to get me free health care, a new car, a new house and pay my utilities. I have already started picking out my new color scheme.

He said that I wouldn’t have to pay taxes anymore, only the rich people. Please don’t tell me that. The rich have more than they need and he was going to spread some of their needless wealth to people like me.

All I want to do is watch my soaps on my new HDTV that is buying me, after all they voted $650 million for everyone to get a new TV box.

  11. Granny says:

Neal has done a super job of making a mental picture that most folks can clearly see and understand.
He hit a home run with, “If your house were to catch fire, and I showed up and began spraying gasoline on it, I would be doing something, but it wouldn’t be helping matters any, would it?”
Hopefully that will resonate in the grey matter in people’s heads and get them past the *pelosi* of AKA is *doing something*. Perhaps it will encourage them to THINK of exactly WHAT is it AKA is doing.
    Looking forward to Part II
